February Classic Author Excerpt: Archangel by Andrew Q. Gordon

Did you catch Monday's blog featuring @Andrew Q Gordon short story, Archangel? This is an older anthology feature from the theme "Walk on the Wild Side". What does that have to do with angels? Hmm.... Well, I picked this excerpt because it doesn't show that, but I really wanted to feature some of the smooth flow of Andrew's work and how well he could craft characters and stories that suck in readers from the beginning. He has many popular stories featuring characters who are evolving into t

February Classic Author Feature: Archangel by Andrew Q. Gordon

February is a month people tend to focus on that cute little angel with the diaper and wings, the bow and arrows... but Archangel is not about Cupid, oh no no no. What kind of angels? Well... Length: 10,683 Description: Everyone thinks Nick is the 'nicest guy they know.' But is he really as 'angelic' as they think? This submission is dedicated to Cia - who challenged me to write something for this Anthology. Hopefully it is worthy of she whom it is dedicated to. A R

Traditional Forum View VS Fluid Forum View

Now that the forums are consolidated, one of the features added to the system years ago is a LOT more useful.  You can now select Fluid View and see all topics in a single list, instead of having to go to different forums to see the most recent topics.  You can see them all in one go and filter to see only the forums you are interested in. If you are not a fan, you can still use the Traditional view, which is the button next to the one with the giant red arrow, shown above.

Josh.mp4 Albert Nothlit Reviewer: Puppilull Status: Complete Word Count: 34,936 I’m sure many of you know and love Albert Nothlit for his science fiction adventure stories, that bring strange worlds and even stranger creatures alive. I’ve read them and have been on the edge of my seat to find out what will happen to the main characters. You see with Albert, you never really know. Stories can t

Ask an Author 2.0 #28

Welcome back.  One of the advantages of asking several authors the same question is the opportunity to discern something about their writing. Their responses, shared in this blog verbatim, can give us glimpses into their style. This month’s replies may also tell us if their work is to be read one handed. A while back, a reader suggested one of my stories did not belong on Gay Authors. The complaint was I barely included sex scenes. Before I could reply, several others jumped in and made it

Weekly Wrap Up (Jan.27 - Feb. 1)

Well happy February all! I'm in another great mood tonight  So please just humour me for a bit. See, my hockey team got their butts handed to them on the scoreboard tonight  As most of you know, I live in Calgary and our arch rivals are in the other major city in Alberta, Edmonton. So back in the 80's and 90's, the two teams had games that were legendary for everything good, and some bad, in hockey. After 20 years, both teams are both relevant again to each others and the game tonight was a

Politics and GA

So what is Steve doing writing a blog outside of the Weekly Wrap Up?  Well, once every four years something happens that affects our site in an unusual way. It overtakes a lot of the US of A as well as the rest of the world. What am I talking about? The US Presidential and Term Elections is what. Now before you hit the report button and report me for talking about politics outside the Pit, please read on. As many of our long-term members know, and I imagine new ones as well, polit

January CSR Discussion Day: Silverwolf by Wayne Gray

This month's feature is a popular one, Silverwolf by Wayne Gray! Did you read it? Well, you have the chance to share your love for the story below, or ask extra questions, or beg for a sequel... whatever quirks your fancy. But first, you get to enjoy my interview with Wayne.   Have you ever gone out in public, realized your shirt is on backwards, and just didn’t care? Backwards, no. Inside out? Yes, and I didn't care. If you had 30 minutes of free time, what would you do? Hr

Huh! I was snuggled into bed with the music of Rent going on in my head (guess what I partially watched tonight ) when I said to myself, 'Self, did you do the weekly update tonight?' Needless to say I had not. So here I am well past my bedtime and thinking if there is anything for a preamble. Since I'm in shut down mode already, I guess not. January Classic Author Excerpt: The Long Way by DomLuka

Did you catch Monday's blog featuring long-time and uber-popular author, Dom Luka, The Long Way? This story has always been one of the most read on GA, a popular coming of age story that leads readers on a journey of self-discovery along with the main character. Domaholics know just how addictive these stories can be, so it should be no surprise this one was featured for your reading enjoyment.    Now on to the scene I picked! It should be fairly self-evident why... Want to read

January Classic Author Feature: The Long Way by DomLuka

New month, new year, new round of features of stories by GA's Classic Authors from years gone by! So many loved stories from the past are missed by current readers, so we like to feature the great stories by promoted authors so they don't fade into obscurity. Now this month's story... well, it may be one of THE classicest of classic stories on GA, lol, and is still loved by many.  The Long Way by DomLuka Length: 319,403 Description: When a secret gets out and things unexpe

Weekly Wrap Up (Jan. 12 - Jan. 18)

Well the Great White North is living up to it's name this week. Snow hurricanes in St John's, and in Atlantic Canada. Huge amounts of snow have fallen in central parts and the the Prairies have been gripped all week in -40 weather. Even the nice green lower mainland of BC is covered in snow and the travel is not recommended. Still, Australia is burning in some areas and other areas next door are flooding.  Okay, the localized weather forecast is completed and I really should get to wrapping

Signature Feature: Cole Matthews

So, with the new year, I like to see what features I can add. This year, I decided it would be great to try and feature our Signature authors once a month (when possible). So, to get this feature started, let's take a look at some stories by @Cole Matthews! I'll be picking three stories to share from each of our signature authors, and it would be great if the members would weigh in with what their favorite story is from that month's author!  I'll only be sharing complete stories, so if it's a st

Well I'm in a good mood I just finished watching a hockey game that came out the right way   I don't know about you, but do you come to GA for a mood change? What am I talking about? Well this week has had me thinking about a lot of things, Australia burning, Eastern North America in tornadoes, rain and freezing rain. The Royal family in turmoil (okay, so I like the Royal Family, shoot me ). A passenger plane accidentally being shot down in Iran and 100's of lives lost. With that all going on,

2020, A Look Ahead

In our last blog post here in news, we looked back at 2019. Author Guess Who #7

Well, it's that time again!  Who's ready to see if they can guess this month's author?  I love seeing all the guesses and can't wait to see if you can figure this one out!!! Happy Guessing!   What is one thing that most GA members might not know about you? I have a growing interest in photography What prompted you to write your first story? CSR Feature: Silverwolf by Wayne Gray

Welcome to 2020! Well, no one wanted to revolutionize the CSR posts, and the author interviews still seem to be popular with blog readers enough to get at least a few comments each month, so I'll keep this going on to Year 8 of monthly suggested reads by yours truly! One of the best parts of this blog is I get to feature new and experienced authors and stories of all different types and styles; the only criteria for the CSR is that the story is 1) complete and 2) between 10,000 to 75,000 ish wor
