Are you Corona phobic?

Apparently, according to the World Health Organization, the Covid-19 virus is not like influenza, but the symptoms are the same. It can be deadly but also very mild, and some people may not even know they are infected. We must act swiftly to contain this outbreak, but a global pandemic is inevitable.

In other words, they haven’t got a bleeding clue. Not a Scooby, and never has it been more obvious.

I don’t know who these WHO people are, but this virus has instantly catapulted them into superstardom. Recently they’ve been getting more television minutes than Trump. I preferred them when they were smashing guitars, not giving bland news conferences to tell us. Well, absolutely nothing really.

I feel sorry for them. They’ve been thrust into the limelight and pressured by a hungry media to respond to something which they know very little.

It looks as if we’ve all been caught with our pants down, and the message is clear.  ‘Every man for himself’. No offense intended to female readers, but the politically correct version of Captain Smith’s famous last orders just doesn’t carry the same weight. Not that I’m making any direct comparisons between the doomed Titanic and the Corona-virus, but there are some disturbing similarities.

Having said this, I’m optimistic about our chances of containing this un-flu-like, same-symptom virus. You have to be pragmatic. I’ve never heard of anything made in China that has lasted more than a couple of weeks.

Seriously though, as with most things, it’s important to remain calm. Fear of the illness or Corona phobia could potentially prove more damaging than the virus.

What do you think, are you Corona phobic?

And how do we stop infected baseball players from spitting?

I have sworn off kissing men until I know there is a cure :P Sorry Dodger, no kiss kiss for you :gikkle:

Now, the one thing I will say, is that I'm really tired of hearing all the misinformation out there. Although people mean to share what they have heard, most of what has been heard is very incorrect :( .

Now, I can't say this is true or not, and I couldn't find it in a cursory search of the WHO website, but I do believe the recovery rate is up around 90% of the virus. Can anyone qualify that?

It was funny Friday at work, before a meeting, we were wondering out loud why people are stocking up on toilet paper :o. There was 3 guys and a gurl in there and I said I buy a 12 double roll pack and that lasts me 4 months. Jennifer said, "You've got to be kidding!" My reply, "I get to stand to pee." Was that sexist of me in International Woman's Month?

There is so much false news out there its really not worth listening to it, in the UK we have at least two anti-conservative gutter press rags who are constantly glorifying things to make it sound worse than it is and slang the conservative government off at every turn despite no one including the government knowing how to combat this virus.

Thanks to the gutter rags we now have panic buying which if people just carried on as normal we would have plenty for everyone, but no lets all be selfish and to hell with everyone else.

One thing that I do find amusing is that its 2020 and people are just finding out about this thing called soap, its been around for years, but lets hope we get a few clean people out and about .

What is the fuss? we have over 1000 people die from Cancer a week in UK, Hundreds die on the roads a week, average of 10 knifing's a week several shootings a week, the list goes on but we have at this time 3 people die in a week and hell breaks loose, out of those 3 all had severe underlying health conditions and were all in their 80's, this is once again down to false news and rabid gutter press that are making it worse than it is.

One mistake the government is again making ( such as the brexit shambles ) is that they do not have a press officer giving up to date news about things, that way people know that the rubbish papers print are false and that there is one and one source of news only regarding this.

As for myself, like wildone, I will refrain from kissing men and avoid people who cough, sneeze or have a cold .......however i feel it is only sensible to keep taking my vitamins,.... straight from the source  🍆 💦 💦

Just be sensible and use common sense.

I share some of your same sentiments.  Opioid overdoses skyrocketing for quite a while, little done about it.  You're right about other common causes of death.  Thanks for putting this virus in perspective with that comment.

Just a thought, but I consider all soap anti-bacterial as it does kill most, if not all dangerous pathogens common in our world.  What kills the virus, how long does it live and where?  The confusion in the news seems to press people to do strange things.  I guess that's employment insurance for the reporters.  I noticed the changing "facts," and decided to order my groceries online and keep myself unstressed till this panic passes.   Could have been handled better here in the US, am hoping things will sort out soon.  Maybe this will pass with the warmth of spring.

Have been getting emails from local gay bars/businesses saying they're upping their cleaning and sanitation, etc.  Nothing was said about social distancing, that's going to be hard to do at a bar where folks enjoy standing side-by-side to enjoy a cold one.  From what I hear, there are few out cruising, shopping or anything else.

From my past in a lab, I consider cells and microbes beautiful.  Electron microscopy only emphasized nature's artworks.  This one is a deadly beauty.

Tilting axis seduced knobby buds,

Clouds of pollen applaud.

Grubs lazily rub crusty eyes.

No rollicking in warm rains this spring -

Corona phobic.
