i just don't understand...

They're good kids, young adults, young men, mostly housebroken. They really are. But today i'd sell them to the gypsies.

When we got the house put back together after the floors were installed they were told that at least twice a week the floors needed to be dry mopped, swept, and at least every weekend a good wipe down. Not even a full mopping, just use the Swiffer wet. We’ll  drag out the mop and bucket every other weekend. As long as it’s kept clean, and spills or whatever are wiped up right away, that should be enough.

Well, i swept on Wednesday after work, before my class. So why is it that today there was push back like they were toddlers being denied yet another cookie?

How is it that they can remember song lyrics, movie lines & obscure facts about video games Pokémon & Yu-Go-Oh but can’t remember that this needs to happen? And, in fact, happened last week?

i don't want to do it. There are 100 other things i’d rather do.  Phil would rather do other things too. But these chores need to be done to keep the house clean. And we all live here.

i swear they were taught to listen.  It's stuff like this that just makes me want to scream.

Wonder what's going to happen next weekend?

as always, thanks for reading

Oh molly!

I can soooo totally relate.

After spending almost 2 hours cleaning my son's bathroom (because let's face it... he just wouldn't do it right) today the counter is all messy again. At least the shower and toilet are still clean.

This whole scenario reminds me of a meme I've seen on social media:

Boy Moms

My friend asked me what it was like to live in a house full of boys.

So, I peed on her bathroom floor, ate everything in her fridge, told her 800 stories about Minecraft and farted 30 times.

When she was ready to kill me, I hugged her and told her she was pretty.

🤣🤣🤣

(Helpful hint... Bissell Crosswave. It cuts mopping time in half. It's totally worth the money!)

i knew after your posts that you would get it! boys are unusual there's actually another blog here i wrote about that, lol!

and i know that boy mom meme, it's funny because it's so true!

bissel crosswave.... i'll look into it

thanks for reading

Sorry. i'm a boy, living with another Boy. Don't come here. That's all i can say.

mopping? twice a week?  hahaha, sorry.  That just slipped out, kind of like hysterically.  haha  i can't remember mopping.

Best of luck, molly.

i kind of thought that might happen here, your comment causes a memory to float just out of reach... we may have had a conversation about cleaning before
it's just..... can't they see the clumps of dog hair and the bits of mud and other debris the dogs bring in?

thanks tim. i appreciate you encouraging me to write these things down.

we have had this talk before .. we have not improved here.  i think that many us either just don't care that much and really just don't care that much.

i did clean up the bedroom a while ago..it's still pretty clean, Michael vacuumed the place a week ago? We'll get around to doing more.   Remember, what was written in The Lancet, we can be too clean ... it's better that there's some dust and stuff we are actually healthier that way   ~looks around~  Okay, they may not have meant this dusty....

My husband is the cleaner in our duo. He sees and is bothered by stuff in the house sooner than I am, so he is often the one to initiate cleaning. Me, I'm the dish washer/yard worker (except for the garden, that's Kevin's), and I usually do the laundry. It works for us.

But when he needs help, of course I step in and help. I want him happy, and I know a clean house is a part of that.

Sorry you're frustrated, molly. They do love you, they're just ... well ... they're boys.

Phil can take clutter, up to a point. i can take less of that. but the dust and the clumps of dog hair and dirt and leaves from doggie paws.......

What i seem to be hearing is that "this" is just a part of being male?

I've known "neat freak" guys, but they were the exceptions. And they were also off the charts in terms of a need for a clean space. Kevin is the most "normal" neat guy I've met.

Overall? It's just not as important to most guys as it is to most girls. And it absolutely creates strife between sexes.

Cleaning standards don't align?  A universal situation and since no  gravestone mentions spotless floors, I feel it's a minor issue.

Floors, houses, material things come and go, stay healthy and happy inside yourself--adapt and/or invent.  This thought this won't eliminate dirt and it may structure an atmosphere where more respect is offered to the person who makes the good life happen.

Be glad for the subconscious; you words will linger to reemerge later in your children's lives.   Encourage them to study Microbiology.

As a kid, I reveled in using the Electrolux floor-cleaning attachments and the smell of the paste wax that came in a yellow tin.  That old machine drowned out all the noise around me, my socked feet stepped across the reflected light, I inhaled the unique aroma of carnauba from a distant palm.  No one bothered me for hours as I pushed the whirling brushes left and right--I imagined kids around the world with brooms, mops, shaking rugs outside in the same moment.   A spiritual task, cleaning floors, it developed a perspective that the repetitive motions of mundane chores were akin to chants of the monks.

A few years ago I came across this video on YouTube and was really tickled at the concept. Not only is it actually really cute, but it got me wondering about temptation and how we all have a "candy" in our lives that is like just too much temptation for us to really handle.

Ok so have a watch, a bit of a grin and then share with us all what YOUR cotton candy is in life! (Just for a bit of fun ey!)

So go on then, what's yours?

      Have a great day!
