COMPASS! North.... No its south :/

Okay,

So I went into the local Tech College to take my placement tests... They are called COMPASSes and boy were they boring.

You sit at this computer and click the answers, so I'm like "No biggie". I fly through the first two sections which were easiest; Writing and Reading. But when I got to the math... I knew I was in trouble. Ya see, I havent taken a math course in a year and a half so I was left with a little bit of a disadvantage. SO in the end I knew I was screwed major with the math one.

My Scores were:

Writing - 85%

Reading - 98%

Math - 47%

Now its not graded like normal tests, the percents are how many people I did better than nationwide. So overall I guess I did ok. But I'm pissed about the math. :/

Oh well, BUT I did get excepted into the PSEO program which means I get college paid for while I'm still in HighSchool :D So next year I'll be doing half of my classes in each school. But I still hafta meet with the Head of the Program. That happens on the 1st of May.

So all in all its just another brick in the wall... lol

Anyways thats it for now I guess,

Nate

Nateypoo,

You are soooo damned right about why you did poorly on the math portion. Math, like any "foreign language" is only learned by using it. Because you have not had a math class is so long a time, your skills are simply rusty (unless you were always crappy in math, then you just needed more practice). If the time comes and you need to take a similar test, go to the library and get a basic textbook at the appropriate level and do some of the problems, you'd be surprised how fast it comes back (assuming it was ever there), at least to the level of raising you by tens of points. (I was gonna say a score of points, but that would have been confusing :P ).

I LOVE that song! My favourite part is, "I'll show you mine if you show me yours first, let's compare scars I'll tell you whose are worse" :boy:

Snow Dog is completely right, I took the GRE 6 or 7 months ago, which also has a math section. At that point I hadn't had a math class in about 3 years (since my first semester of college when I took calculus). I still did pretty well on it, but I used to be really good at math (in high school I was always the one people asked for help with their trig. or calc. ), anyway all the way through I kept coming to problems and going, "well I know I used to know how to do this".

Do you get to retake it? If you brush up on you math I bet you'll kick major butt ;) Anyway take care and have an awesome day!

Congrats again for getting into that program.
