So, as some of you know, I stopped working on September 1, 2023. I didn't really retire; I can't do that for twenty-fourish years, but I did quit doing paid work. I realize I'm very lucky to have this opportunity. I am grateful to my Husband, Michael, for making that happen.

So, what do I do with myself? Not a lot. I spend time at home, looking after the house, and with spring here, there's the garden, which will keep me busy. I've completed a few knitting projects and have started to make my first sweater. That's fun.

I will try to read more completed works on GA. Authors need support and feedback. I've blogged about this before, but authors should support each other the best we can.

I've written a bit and hope to write more poetry.  I posted five for the 2024 poetry Antho.  I'm working with an editor on a longer piece, which is complete but still in editing. I've started another dystopian-type piece, which I hope will be ready for the anthology in October (I think).  I've also edited a story with a new GA author, which has turned out to be an excellent and well-told story with the help of another GA author who beta-read.

Not working has been good for my health, especially my mental health.  i have been thinking about what more i can do.

i'm happy to help around GA. i hope to post more.  i'm also considering volunteer work and looking at options.

I know many people have no choice but to work. I felt some guilt about that, and I still do, but hopefully, my job went to someone who needed it.

Your sounding much happier and more relaxed. With time to enjoy things you like doing.

Health is important, especially mental health to all of us.

Thank you, chris.  i feel happier and am more relaxed. i get more exercise and sleep better for the most part.  Also, thanks for your support. i think most of the authors on GA feel the same way.

I know you know that I've said multiple times that I'm proud of you... but I'm saying it again... I'm so effing proud of you!

Yes, you are fortunate to be able to ditch the hassles of people-ing for a paycheck but you don't need to feel guilty. Many others are able to do the same thing.

All of you are doing what is right for you. Michael gets to provide for your needs and take care if you, Dan gets to make sure you are taking care of yourself and that you occasionally get donuts, and you, my friend, are finding a new person inside of you... someone who is happy.

Seize whatever opportunities that come your way to enjoy life to the fullest. And never forget your donut soul mate🍩❤️🍩

xoxo

You're right. i do feel happier and more content. i'm definitely less stressed.  Thank you for your support as well. I value it very much ... and not just because of the love of donuts we share, as great and amazing as that is. :D

This was really good to read, so thanks for sharing this with us all.

I am absolutely delighted for you, tim, and here's to your next endeavour in whatever form it takes.

xoxo

PS: Your job very likely went to someone who needed it, so that's a good thing, and means you should feel not an ounce of guilt. You did a good deed for that person. 😊

I'm grateful that I'm able to support us on one salary.

There are perks that benefit me directly, such as dessert and a hot dinner when I get home. Not in necessarily in that order.

Seriously, your mental health professional told me a long time ago that you'd benefit from working part time or not at all. Sadly, we were not in the position to let that happen until last year.

You do seem happier and less stressed. I want you to enjoy your life now. Write, nap, bake (lots of baking), exercise, volunteer, read and just relax.  Just be happy. That's all I desire ... well, for the most part.

i am very happy.  xo

Thank you for sharing! It sounds wonderful not having to work.

I myself just lost my job of almost two decades due to the company I work for filing for bankruptcy. And I am taking all the knowledge I've acquired and am going to start my own tiny company with the best friend I could imagine for the job.

2024 is going to be interesting.

I deeply respect that you saw what needed doing, and you did it. You evaluated and gathered information. You planned. You executed. You did what needed doing.

We spoke years ago when you helped me see the difference between posers/abusers and Doms. And while you’ve no need to prove anything to me or anyone, this does exactly that.

I know you like your work, and that it helps you to do it. But the imperative stemmed from what tim needed.

I’m glad tim has you. You really are his Sir, and that’s just … perfect.

Thank you, Wayne. We've talked about this several times.  tim's wellbeing and happiness are everything to me.  I'm happy what I'd hoped and planned for have come to fruition.

I can also say, I'm happy tim has the friends he does.

It is wonderful. i'm very lucky not to have to do paid work.   2024 will be challenging for you. That sounds like a great idea and a brave one but why not?  i hope your new company brings you much success and fulfillment!
