Weekly Wrap Up (Oct. 13 - Oct. 19)

Okay, how was your week? Mine kind of sucked, but there is not much to do about it. 

So here is what I thought I'd ask. We always hear to control what is in your control and to not fret over for what you don't control. The way I read this is there is a lot of things in the world out of our control, but when negative things happen that are not in our control, it is what you do after that you can make the decisions and control the eventual outcome :yes: 

Now if I didn't lose you already with the overuse of the word control, my question is do you fret over what isn't in your control, or do you think things through rationally. I know there is different severities of this. Experiencing a rain shower while out hiking in the mountains without a jacket, is not as bad as getting a life altering diagnosis.  

So are you the calm, cool, cucumber? Or are you a reactive mess of a person :P I think I am a reactive mess right away, but usually doesn't take too long  to morph into the cucumber :). The only issue is sometimes my reactive mess needs an apology depending how far off the deep end I go.

Now that I got that all out, shall we look at our much reduced Weekly Wrap Up, which is the plan when we have the Anthologies coming out 🎉

Tuesday, Myr kicked off the week with a Deep Dive into the genre that I really, really should read more of :unsure::

Then on Thursday, Valkyrie came back with the Week 2 of the Yearly Anthology. How are you doing on your reading?

Believe it or not, that is it :D My job is done.

 

Oops, maybe not ;) Still need to recap the Words of the Day. If you are a doctor, was your specialty featured this week?

neurologist, oncologist, pulmonologist, rheumatologist, hematologist, urologist, otolaryngologist

I used to have two rules. 1. Don’t sweat the small stuff. 2. It’s all small stuff. I had to eliminate #2 when I wad widowed. That was big stuff.

I worry about certain things that are not in my control, such as a wild or forest fire, a hurricane, or a blizzard, especially if it might affect where I live or my loved ones live.  

@Valkyrie didn't we have the Carlos Hazday event already?

Most of the time I can deal pretty well with the unexpected. However, I do have my moments of being a hot mess. 

Being displaced for hurricane Helene, I was a bit of a mess. There were other things contributing to my stress levels and unfortunately, I let negativity come to the forefront. 

Evacuating for Milton, even though we were playing musical accommodations for a week, didn't stress me out as much. I only had one afternoon where I just didn't want to deal with anything or anyone... so I didn't. 

I learned it's better to control what you can and adapt to what you can't.

Yes, we did.  This is a second event being held in Carlos' memory.

 Are you going to tie the two together, sort of like what you did with the Anthology, In too Deep: Week 1 and Week 2, and label the two Carlos Hazday Tribute: Part 1 and Part 2?

I just wanted to say thanks for a great week!  I’ve enjoyed my first week as an official member and appreciate being a small part of this community.  It still feels like "your community” but a goal of mine to make it feel like “our community.”  It’s a me problem, not a you problem.  I think it is something I can control. ;) 

Thanks for the warm welcome.  Thanks also to all of you who have been reading my first attempt at fiction since college!

Here’s to a great week to come!

They are two different events, so would be considered like two different anthologies/tributes.  The first one was named Long May You Run and the second one is named Auld Lang Syne.   It will be featured in one blog, like last year's.

Depends on the day really. Also, if I'm dealing with your cheekiness Wildthing, I am far more likely to not be cool as a cucumber. 

I must admit I do react with the loss of control. :P Is it to a fault? Maybe, but I don't really know who will ever be brave enough to tell me such a thing. 

I mean, we've had the discussion of Husband's tactic for dirty dishes numerous times, as it is a tactic that seems to crop up in more issues than just dirty dishes. That's also why we have one of the world's most comfiest of couches for him. *whistles* 

On a more serious note: It definitely depends on the projected outcome. I think, at least for me when something pops up, I can work through multiple possible outcomes. If most of those possible outcomes outside of my control, are baseline manageable or has a lot of flexibility, I can deal with them without a lot of fight to regain control. I can be relaxed in those outcomes, whether they hindered me or not. If something outside of my control has more impactful outcomes, with unfavorable outcomes, or forced acceptances of bad outcomes, I struggle a lot with those, and they tend to stick with me a lot longer. Especially, if they impact more than just me.
