This originates with the Greek root cronos, meaning time.

The earliest known use of the word chronicity was in 1878, in the writing of A. M. Hamilton. The word is a derivation of the adjective and noun chronic and the suffix -ity. 

The medical meaning of the word chronicity is the state of being chronic, having a long duration.
