Obviously people in my classes, I always thought, were the smart ones. That was until I got to uni, when I realized that obviously people are just as dumb as me and you. The difference being that obviously people have their hand on the buzzer at all times so that they can spew forth an "Obviously..." at any time. Obviously people are short sighted though because they think they can gain fame from fragmented memories of Nova, History Channel, Time Magazine, previous classes, and so forth. It isn't that they know more, it is that obviously people crave attention and are able to nicely construct poor points and arguments in a matter of seconds. Obviously people annoy me. Obviously people give me headaches sometimes. Obviously people get my goat when they say something out of context with the discussion. This is all because obviously people have a good, though limited, grounding in scholarly adverbs. Obviously people use adverbs in some sort of academic power struggle with an unknown foe. Obviously people's mastry of these adverbs is sickening. Obviously people make me sick.
