Finally the scene we have all been waiting for .

Don't read on if you haven't read the story yet.

I loved how Chase dealt with Jon and Eric, especially Jon. I think of all of them, Jon has the most growing up to do.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but could the vestal virgins have been exactly that except maybe they were underage vestal virgins to be more accurate.

How long would it take for some blackmail to happen by them sending a letter to Helen stating that Jon and Eric had their ways with the poor underage girls. Also maybe something to the extent of needing a certain amount of money to make it go away, and if they don't agree, then they will go to the press and even disclose more juicy information about Chase and Brandon. :wacko:

It think Jon and Eric have really screwed things up in the short term.

Hopefully Helen borrows Chase's drum and does her on impromptu drum solo with the drum actually over his head.

Oh well, I'm definitely happy that the two guys finally talked and got somewhat intimate. But I'm still riled up over Jon and Eric that I will have to calm down some first.

I can't say anything about the future, but I will mention one scene that's in this chapter;

Remember how Jon and Eric left the party with the girls?

My guess is that the three tart-let, vestal virgins wanted their 15 minutes of fame and outed Chase and Brandon to Perez Hilton or any of the other cheesy, gossip mongers in Hollywood. In the celebrity news cycle, this would be fodder for "Page 6" in the New York Post. Then, paparazzi video photographers will try to get footage to sell TMZ. Later, the cable news channels will have a field day before the "story" moves on to Entertainment Tonight. Ain't life grand?

At least the guys got to kiss.

Now, if I was really inclined to do a cliffhanger, think what I could have done with Eric's escapades, drunk and leaning between the two balconies, 20 stories up? Remember, he did slip... the chapter could have ended something like this;

 

Eric, clutching at the rail to steady himself as he struggled to extend the mirror, stretched further out over the abyss. Losing his grip, Eric pitched headlong over the rail, Jpn's frantic grab coming just a split-second too late.

 

Racing to the rail, Jon, saw his brother, one last and final time, clinging by one hand to the rail of the opposite balcony, dangling over twenty stories of nothingness, as the rail slowly pulled free from the wall...

 

See what a cliffhanger that could have been? But fortunately, I never use cliffhangers...

 

Apart from that.... Chase is my hero He's a wonderful guy who really knows how to stick it to his older brothers when they deserve it.

As Brandon said to him, "Remind me to never piss you off..."

He does have a way of getting hos own back, doesn't he?

this scene was what I had in mind when I plotted out the story years ago, and it's a big part of why Chase is the drummer.

 

I'm wondering if Jon and Eric have enough balls to admit what they've done to Helen, Chase and/or Brandon.

Actually that was exactly what I thought about when I made my predictions. Why would they have to "sneak" them out of Jerry's place if they were eighteen? I think there is a lot more about these girls than what has been presented.

 

I still think there is a bit of blackmail in the letter that Helen is holding.

 

Really, look at the author of this fine story. Isn't it the same person who may or may not have blackmailed his fans to vote a certain way in a poll or face the possibility of the next chapter being delayed .

Dimitri was just trying to keep Vladimir occupied, but yes, you're quite right (and my apologies to Bondwriter) it could be that they both are mezmerized by the hoppers. Actually, so was I, the first time I saw them in the wild.

It was discussed before, and my view was that Dimitri is too much of a professional. The danger in trying to get rid of him, and failing, is too high, and, being a professional, the risk of him releasing details of the scheme are low. On that basis, The Scar has probably thought about it, and Dimitri has probably thought that The Scar has thought about it, but nothing will happen.

I like to try and give my characters depth, and that includes a few quirks. Dimitri, The Scar, and Vladimir might not be perfect goody-two-shoes types, but they do have their little quirks, like Dimitri's fear of heights. Expect to see more Kangaroos.

It seems to me like The Scar is definitely aware of Dimitri's fear of heights and already using it somewhat to his advantage when they meet (further intimidating him, etc.). So it seems somewhat possible to me that he might later decide to try to dispose of Dimitri by somehow exploiting that fear.

 

I definitely agree with your reasoning, and you may indeed be correct, but somehow I suspect that there's further backstabbing to be done, and I think Dimitri's acrophobia will play a role in it.

Oh, BTW, early in the story, remember how Brandon got outed back in Phoenix? Because he'd been reading gay fiction about a dirt-bike rider? Yep, Shot of Bourbon, by Shadowgod! So, Shadowgod is not to blame for Brandon's outing, TWICE!

That seems like a good guess, Steve, but my initial reaction was simply that the girls' father would be ticked off and might be influential. As I recall they were there accompanying their father who was dressed as a Roman Senator (well one of them was a friend of the daughter if I remember correctly). What if the Roman Senator was also an American Senator (that would be just the kind of cute, little ironic joke people like when picking costumes)?

 

Even if he's not, he's likely to be influential if he was at the fund-raiser in the first place!

Vladimir... Dimitri... This is quite confusing. Even to you, as Graeme pointed out. I have a hunch Vladimir is not going to grow very old.

You may be right about the drunken conversations, but I tried it using more "natural language" and deleted it. To me, it detracted a little, because I needed to keep the dialog in that section very brief.

I only noticed the second time around; I agree with Graeme on dialogs being the illusion of speech. Maybe a phrase more colloquial than 'promiscuous' would have done the trick. Well, this works the way it is anyway.

Hrmmm, I see some wonderful predictions from you and others in this thread, (and some, though I won't say which, are spot-on) but I do notice one recurring and puzzling theme; people seem to be assuming that The Scar and Dimitri are bad guys. While I do grant that they aren't perfect, don't they come across as nice, lovable characters?

I tried a few, well, one, "cock-chasing", the only one I could think of, but it didn't seem to fit, especially as they had used the word before. I also needed to make Jon's statement about "keeping them apart" as something Chase would misunderstand. If they'd used more of a slur, it would have not been so much of a misunderstanding. In other words, I cleverly wrote myself into a corner.

 

I have a knack for doing that... probably the worst case so far was back in FTL: After the stake-out, when Eric (not the same Eric as in LTMP, LoL) needed to steal the Charger, I ran into a huge problem; I'd previously mentioned (in a very early chapter) that the car had an alarm, and I couldn't initially think of a way that Eric could purloin the key AND an alarm fob. I think I spent more time figuring a way out of that box than in any other I've written myself into.

That's what I was wondering, back before the first mention of "promiscuous". I did look for another word, but couldn't find one. That by no means indicates there isn't one; wording is definitly NOT my strong suit! I'll never be an eloquent writer, I'm more of a storyteller, i think.

 

And BTW, a shout-out to Ishewar; he (I think) noticed that first mention, and wondered why. Now we know. Good catch, Ishewar!

But, in LTMP, The Scar and Dimitri did something that Eric never did in FTL. They have killed countless people. Therefore, I don't believe in this story that CJ can convince us that they are just misunderstood .

It's my favorite chapter of those posted, too. It was fun to write, and oddly enough, probably the easiest to write.

On the subject of Eric, I probably did goof in using the name in both FTL and LTMP. I just liked the name, and the draft of the early chapters of LTMP was written long before FTL, so Eric was already Eric in my head.

Anyway, regardless of the fact that copious isn't a very common word I'm pretty sure that if I were discussing crying or shedding tears it would easily spring to my lips because I associate the two.

 

So if Jon was used to thinking/saying "promiscuous gays" I don't think he'd have struggled for the adjective regardless of his state of mind.

 

I suppose I may be wrong though.

 

 

BTW, being a newbie around here when do the new chapters come out? I've heard that they're released in a roughly weekly manner. Is in on the same day every week?

Those are some very good points! One of the reasons I went with "promiscuous" was that's what he'd used before, so I was thinking he'd likely use it again. I know that when I've had too much to drink, my vocabulary doesn't change, just my pronunciation. LoL

 

The next chapter should be out sometime on Tuesday. Tuesday is my normal posting day, though delays sometimes occur.

Sometimes my chapter titles can be a tad ominous. If that was the case, this one would be called something like "Hiting the Fan".

That would be a bit ominous after the "Wild Wild Night" events, so its a good thing that's not the title!

Hmmm, so this is where we all jump in to interpret what it could mean, right? (I'm going to be familiar with the ways of this forum yet!! )

 

-The most likely interpretation is probably that it's in reference to the consequences of their "wild wild night". Now they have to pay the price.

 

-A secondary, but less likely interpretation could be that one of their "fans" is the one responsible for the bad press and as a result they're going to go knock him/her around a little bit

 

-The only other interpretation that I can think of would be the slangy, sexual meaning of "hit"...but since the boys hit three of their fans in the last chapter that seems unlikely.

This also looks like a derivative of the American phrase "When the $h&! hits the fan". Which basically means that if you keep doing something stupid, or you generally get yourself into trouble that eventually the "**** is gonna hit the fan" and be spread around (in other words you have to pay for it).
