Good afternoon!

I joined the webring associated with this site a while back, and am just now getting to the forums. *whistles innocently* As I've already made a response to another post, I figured I'd better make some sort of introduction.

My name is Kay Derwydd and I'm an addict... err... writer of gay erotica. I'm omnigendered (read: FtM transgendered, but possibly non-op), queer as a football bat, and I live in Delaware, USA, with my MtF partner Alana and our two toddlers. (I have an older child who lives in another state.)

I started writing gay fiction several years ago, and have recently completed my first novel titled 'The Legacy' and hope to sub it out this summer. (It's in the proofing stage now.) I'm also working on its sequel, Blessed Sacrament, and book 3 in the same series. (I swear that it was never supposed to become so huge a project.)

I also have three novellas in the works:

La Chambre Sure - Leather/BDSM novella

Taliesin's Grove - archaeology-based novella

Verdant Illumination - medieval-era fantasy

I have one short story published at Forbidden Fruit zine, titled "The Holly King". I also have another short story coming out soon from Ruthie's Club, titled "Opposites Attract".

I did have all my older stories up on both Literotica.com and my personal website, but I pulled them down from both places in order to rework them and hopefully sub them out.

Other than that, there isn't much to tell. More personal information about me (favorites, etc) can be found on my website. I'm also one of three admins for an erotic romance writers' forum that can be found via the links on my website and my writing journal (which is also linked on my site).

Anyhow, I look forward to chatting with many (if not all) of you!

Thank you, Kitty! I think I recognize PiscesRising from one of the Yahoo groups I'm on. It's great to see a familiar face here. :)

The Legacy (in its entirety) is up in the files section of both Yahoo groups (SlashandHack and Erotic_Romancers). I'll post some excerpts soon here as well, if anyone is interested. :)

Thanks again, and I look forward to chatting with you (and everyone else)! :)

Thank you :D

I'm going to do my best not to be a lurker too much here. After a weekend of being out of town, I'm trying to get back into work mode; so far, my guys (my characters, that is) are cooperating nicely. (Although they aren't always known for that... )

I was wondering, since I'm not much of a writer, whether that was how a lot of authors feel? Like their characters are sort of people that do their own things...hmm, I'm not phrasing that very well and I sound like a total dumb blonde, but I guess what I mean is that, do they feel like people in their own right?

In all honesty, most of the writers that I know think of their characters in that exact way. There are times when our characters will behave and not give us any trouble, and then there are times when they run away with our muse in a direction that we never intended for the story. My Leather novella came out of one of those moments when the two protagonists of The Legacy wanted to get into things that I didn't think fit the story. So I fashioned the protagonists of La Chambre Sure loosely after them and let them have at it.

Sometimes those odd moments lead to extra scenes, and sometimes they lead to scenes that don't need to be added. I know it all probably makes most writers, who think of their characters as living, breathing beings with minds of their own, look to be completely insane, but then again, sanity is a questionable term at times. LOL

I live for the moment my characters get away from me, then I know I have something.

Amen to that! :D It's always a great feeling when your characters become so real that they take on a virtual existence. LOL

Welcome! I visited your site and they all sound so good. Especially Verdant Illumination and Taliesin's Grove. it's driving me crazy not being able to read them :D

Kat: Thank you! I've put all the novellas (La Chambre, Taliesin's, and Verdant) on the backburner to work on Blessed Sacrament, but I really need to pull them out and start back on them. :) If there's a place to post snippets, I'd be glad to. ;)

Kitty: Heh, if you mean my short stories, I'm going to clean them up a bit and then I'll be happy to. I do have a few that I might go ahead and post; they were going to be part of an art-theme, single author antho I was going to put together, but I simply don't have the time yet. So I might start posting those soon. :)

Thanks all! :D

Hi kay,i've been here i think about a month and a half and i just got to the forumns too.i love that you write erotica.i watch it but i didn't know there were books about it.have you ever heard of intimate moments? well if that is erotica then i have read it.Nice to know someone who writes it. :2thumbs:

Thank you! No, I've never heard of it, to be honest. :) I started out writing porn (and still write it), but erotica is still my love. I fall in love with the men I write about, so I always want them to have long, fully-involved stories. :D

Speaking of which, I should be sending The Legacy out by next week to Chippewa Publishing, who have said they're interested in reading it. *dances and cross fingers*

Okay. Yes. I suck. :P

I'm really going to try my best to keep up with this forum. Keep getting sidetracked by other things, but I'm trying. I swear I am. LOL

Updates? My first novel, The Legacy (vampire erotic romance), was accepted by the e-publisher Chippewa Publishing. I've had several acceptances from them (including one already up for purchase download--"Novel Visions" (short story in single-title DL and the Vamprotica 2005 anthology). I've also had several stories published at Ruthie's Club, and in Forbidden Fruit ezine. Plus I have one story published at Clean Sheets.

Other than publications, I've been working on TONS of stuff, both under Kay Derwydd (single-authored) and Mychael Black (single- and co-authored). Really been trying to get Mychael's name out there.

Anyhow, enough of that. I'm going to try my best to keep up with Gay Authors. LOL

~Kay/Mychael (pick one; I answer to both. LOL)

*chuckles* Hi there! :D

Hopefully I'll be able to upload some stories soon. My Muse is...well..he's annoying the hell out of me lately, to be honest. hrm.

ohh and as far as teh character thing goes. i have no clue what i am doing lol. when i start writing i just start some thing and everything else just plays out in my mind like a little movie. the only real block i have as is my lack of vocabulary and my gramar sucks lol.

All of my stories play out like movies, so I definitely know what you mean.

The first things that come to me are usually the characters, although sometimes it might only be one. Very rarely does a plot come first, but it happens. This latest idea (born about, oh, 20 minutes ago) started with the plot, but considering it's more of a character study, I suppose you could say the character came first. LOL

the thing i start with is the ending, and work my way backwards. characters for me starts after i get rolling from the begining lol. the endings in my head seems so awesome but when it comes to writing it i have no idea how to descripe even a quarter of the things that happens lol. some times plot gets annoying, i just want to get to the stupid sex scene and just freaking write it lol.

Oh, good. I'm not the only one. *whistles*

Heh. I'm the complete opposite when it comes to the writing process. Half the time, I have absolutely NO clue how the story will end. I might know a few tidbits of what *might* happen, but for the most part, I honestly don't know how things will eventually pan out.

My characters tend to take on very real personalities and basically run away with the entire plot before I've realized it. But...it certainly makes for interesting situations. LOL

And yes, I've been known to argue with my men. Do it quite often, actually; like when they want to get to the sex, but there's that little annoying thing called THE PLOT that has to cramp their styles.

Posted

LOL Thank you! :D

As for writing the sex... My men usually tell me when it's time, although sometimes they want it and it's really not the best time within the plot. I have been known to write sex scenes that I put in later, and also a few "orphan" scenes that never make it into the story. Those are the scenes that I write just to shut the boys up so the story can progress. LOL

Then there are the scenes (some sex scenes, some not) that reveal *very* interesting things about your characters that you weren't quite aware of beforehand. I'm talking, *vital* things...like one of them being a were-creature, and another a vampire, and another an incubus. LOL That just happened in the story I'm currently scribbling out. Hrm. Very interesting, but it works wonderfully. LOL

its not that i dont want to. its just i dont know what gay sex is like lol. ill admit it im a gay virgin T_T

and i always wondered about that, about incubus and succubus. can they be gay? im not ripping on your story or any thing if you have them and they are gay. its your story you can do anythign with it. its just somethign i thought about awhile back lol.

Not a thing wrong with that! :D It's a matter of imagination. :)

As for the incubus/succubus thing... *shrugs* I suppose it really depends on the author, or at the least, who you ask. For me, ALL of my incubi are gay. But instead of going to women in the middle of the night, they feed off of men--whether it's by semen or simply the energy of orgasm itself.
