Lucy Kemnitzer Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 The most important thing -- Quinn saying "it doesn't matter." Dom, you're really getting deep into resolving the unresolvable. I think that having Quinn accept his own discomfort is so much better and so much richer than it would have been if he suddenly just felt all right about everything. I can't wait.
Conner Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 I really must acknowledge Bree for telling Quinn to grow some balls. 'Cause he did and it really helped. :2hands: It helped him and it most certainly helped Jude. Jude really needed to know that Quinn wasn't going to bail on him. It's starting to look like Jude has got Quinn's mom wrapped around his baby finger. She's become the grizzly bear mom of late - and Jude just became one of her cubs. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jude moving in any day now. I'm trying to imagine everyone's reaction to that - Bree's, Taylor's, Brad's, Marissa's and, of course, Quinn's. What a hoot that would be. Anyway, it's not likely to happen. That would put both Quinn and Jude under mom's microscope 24/7. I can just see mom removing every door in the house. Anyway, Quinn's world seems to be unfolding as it should....finally. The only issue to think about now is whether there'll be a climax before or after the climax. Hugs, Conner
glomph Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 What an amazing chapter! I'm becoming a worse Domaholic all the time. I started out reading "The Log Way," and that was the extent of my addiction. It's still my favorite so far. I then started "The Ordinary Us" and found it more annoying than anything else. Quinn still annoys me, but somehow I've come to care what happens to him. I guess that makes me like a lot of the characters in the story. It's a good thing that the "refresh" button in the browser doesn't wear out. I sure use it a lot to see if I can make another chapter magically appear. I don't like "Desert Dropping." I don't like the characters in the story, and the ones that don't even appear in the story. But if I saw that there was a new chapter, I'd put off everything else to read it (well, everything but a new TOU chapter). I guess that's a sign of a real addiction.
glomph Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 That would put both Quinn and Jude under mom's microscope 24/7. I can just see mom removing every door in the house. That would call for a system of surveillance cameras.
Bao Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 (edited) this chapter of TOU is just awesome. and an awesome ending to the chapter..... so any guesses on why jude want to keep crying. Edited September 12, 2005 by Bao
rknapp Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 pure excellence, although Dom broke his routine by putting in something i expected, Mrs. Moore wanting to help him, instead of pushing Quinn away or something. but i didn't expect Jude to go over there. somehow i get the feeling that Quinn shouldn't be beating himself up over telling his mom who her son really is, because thirty-six missed phone calls over the course of four hours only says that she was all but messing up her pants, not knowing where her son was, after what had happened earlier in the day. damnit i want 22 now! im as anxious as Quinn is to learn what Mrs. Moore and Jude are talking about!
Guest rainbowelf Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 I really liked this chapter, especially because finally Quinn is the one there for Jude, instead of the other way around as before. You can definitely tell that Quinn has matured and changed a lot from the beginning of the story. I'm also really glad that Quinn's mom seems to be sympathetic towards Jude instead of just telling Quinn to leave him alone or something. And, of course, I'm dying to know what they talked about while Bree and Quinn were in the other room. I really hope that at least Jude comes out to Mrs. Moore, because at this point I think she's not going to just shove him out the door after being so horrified that his parents just left him like that, and if she still accepts him, it would be a good incentive for Quinn to eventually come out too. My guess is Jude and Quinn will be caught kissing together by Mrs. Moore eventually. PS I've been reading Dom's stories for several months, but finally got the nerve to actually register and whatever so I can post. I admit it. I'm a domaholic. So yeah, hi everyone, and Dom, you are an awesome writer.
Kat Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 ^^^I'm glad you decided to post rainbowelf! And welcome to the boards I'm so glad I got up early so I could read this before work. Otherwise it would have driven me mad! Quinn seems to be working a lot out so that's good since Jude's probably going to need him and his support for a while. Brad and Marrissa... I'm kind of worried about them. In the last chapter I wanted to believe that Marrissa really did accept Quinn and wasn't going to do anything but now i'm really thinking that she's up to something. And I could really see Brad going along with her since he's so pissed at Quinn right now. But I really hope that doesn't happen because Brad seems like such a good friend especially after he accepted Taylor so easily (at the locker). I wonder how Quinns mom his going to find out about them? For some reason I just want her to accidentally walk in on Jude and Quinn so it'll all be out in the open. I really don't think she'd react badly but who knows? Now I really really can't wait till the next chapter! I wanna know what's going on with Jude and Quinns mom! Great work as always Dom!
Guest maboi26 Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Hello. I just recently became a member of Dom's group. I have been reading some of the stories that Dom has written and so far, The Ordinary Us, appears to be an ongoing story. I enjoy the way the author sets out the story and the characters and situations. It is very well written, the reader is kept in suspense until it happens. Finally ending up on Chapter 21, I think I'd drop by and say hello and tell Dom how much I enjoy the story to date. Can't wait for the next update. MABOI26
Bao Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 lol this chapter must really be taht moving cause it seems like people are signing up just to post about it lol.
Lucy Kemnitzer Posted September 13, 2005 Author Posted September 13, 2005 Think back to the very beginning of the story. We first meet Quinn taking care of Marissa and Brad and Bree (she does the cooking, he does the cleaning, and he vets her boyfriends and listens to her problems). Quinn isn't doing something new with Jude, though it feels new to him: he's integrating his new feelings with his old, responsible self. I also love that they spent all that time kissing, because remember Quinn's physicality was always kind of mild before.

Then I realized that it is just a deeper explanation of the "there's nothing wrong with you" comment that Jude made. Jude was not referring simply to Quinn's sexuality, but to his person as a whole. His compulsiveness to be neat and to take care of those who are important to him (if you want to call it 'responsible', fine) is as much a part of him has his sexuality. While some might find the neatness to be a negative, others might find his concern over Bree's friends negative, and others will find his sexuality as a negative. But to Jude, it was all acceptable, it was all ok, it was all just Quinn. Oh well, that may or may not have made sense, my mind is in a strange place right now. :king: Snow Dog (looking for a corner to hide in until the 2nd coming -- 1st if the Jews are right)
