OMG, I don't even know where to start from...this chapter was sooooooo good. I had a feeling that Marrissa wasn't going to turn out like Janie...Im glad I was right. I just hope that the sound Quinn heard was the sound of Brad getting hit upside the head with a lunch tray instead of Taylor...he deserves it

Super chapter, Dom. I can certainly understand why you had to do a few re-writes. That last scene in the cafeteria was incredible. Everything was hanging by a thread. Gulp!

I would have had Quinn punching out Brad and Trina and Marissa in a cat fight

Finally, more action of Quinn and Jude getting horizontal. And a lot more positive progress, even if it doesn't seem that way. What I'm going to find interesting though is the next chapter, as it or the one after it will be the closing chapter of TOU. I mean, there are still many unresolved issues at hand like, will Quinn and Brad be friends or enemies (it actually sounded like he was trying when he asked if they were still friends, I wanted to admonish Taylor for his interruption but he did bring up a good point), will Quinn get his head out of his ass for once and listen to Marissa? She sounds sincere, boy! What will happen when he gets home, or meets Jude by the tracks, when he finds out what his mom is going to do about Judes current living arrangements? And, most importantly, will she learn what Jude really means to Quinn, and vice versa, and how will she react?

I have to admit, when I read the first chapter or two of TOU, I didn't think I was going to get into it, but DAMNIT Dom has his way with my head, AGAIN! :read:

T_T only 1 or 2 chapters left of tou. I DEMAND A SEQUEL. i wonder when the next chapter of TOU will be out.

HOT! That's the one word that comes to mind after reading CH 22. I actually had to stop mid chapter to go cool down

The description of Jude in the black undies was...ummm, ummm, good! Dom does an incredible job of giving us details that makes us feel like we are there.

I'm so glad that Dom doesn't listen to crazy Bardeara :P cause that sex scene was H-O-T HOT!

Time to go re-read :read::read: ...I missed most of the plot cause I was too focused on the sex :*)

Amazing chapter Dom!!!! :worship:

I'm SO GLAD that Quinn pulled his head out of his ass long enough to realise what good friends he has in Trina & Taylor :great: . Not to mention the backbone to let Marissa & Brad know that they are his friends.

Besides night time at Quinn's being smokin' hot ( with the added irony that Jude was sent to Quinn's room to prevent teenage sex from happening on Mrs.Moore's watch), it was good to see Quinn take another step forward in accepting that he's gay and a big step towards being an admirable person by being more concerned about Jude's feelings and pleasure than his own. :2thumbs:

I won't attempt to make predictions because mine are always wrong!

Is it time to start hitting the refresh button yet for chapter 23 yet?

BTW, I wanted someone, anyone, to smack Brad on his ass! First he asks Quinns in a sheepish way if they're still friends and proceeds to talk loudly about interrupting Quinn & Jude!?! As if outing Quinn once wasn't enough!

So Vic when you went to cool down who did you picture yourself as, Quinn or Jude? :lmao:

As for the sex scene, Dom you made it work very well. I liked it. I'm certain readers will get "HOT" reading it. :P I felt it worked very well as you progressed Quinn even further along into acepting who he is. You made it very believable which is very nice to see. Well done.

As for the rest of thet story, I'm uncertain if it is was split or not. I can hope that it has been split, but considering what has happened it almost feels as if you set it up for the very last chapter. So even though Vic is happy that you didn't listen to 'crazy me' please I hope your hearing me now, I hope you did split the chapter so that there is still two more chapters. B)

Not that it will make much difference now. :D

Great job dude, you did it again!!!! :2thumbs:

Dom your stories are something of an addiction when one starts reading them it is difficult to quit. I am eagerly looking forward to more of the story and I hope that we will see Desert Dropping continue.

Feminized , Conner? I think you've got the wrong word there. That's all I'm going to say about it, for now, except: think about the women and girls you know, and think about Dom's female characters, for that matter, and then think about how you used that word.

Dom, I can see all too clearly what the unresolvable is in this story (like some of Owen's relationships in "The Log Way" were unresolvable). It's Quinn. He's just now capable of learning to give other people the chance to do the decent thing. His reactions in the cafeteria -- while completely consistent and excellently portrayed -- are stupid and more wrong than I can say. I was actually hoping that this time, with all the hints from Bree and Jude, he would get it, but no -- and I don't see how, walking out like this, he will ever get it, even if Brad corners him at home or something.

Meanwhile, I don't think Brad's father is coming back, and I think Brad's mother is going to have a very hard time with this baby, and I think Quinn should but probably won't get over himself and go help Brad like he did Trina, only without the jumping to conclusions and yelling part.

But maybe -- if Bree recruits Jude to help with Brad the way she was recruited to help with Trina, Quinn will finally see the bigger picture. I don't know.

Lucy, I do have strong views on the feminization of man in modern day society and the serious detrimental effects it has had on our communities. Those views are not relevant to this story. Such a discussion would more properly take place in the soapbox. I would be more than happy to engage you on the subject in that venue.

However, given that I made the remark I did, let me provide some clarification. It must was not my intention to decry women for the existence of what I call the feminized man. It sickens me as deeply when I observe the behaviour of a masculinized woman. It is my view that when one gender, for whatever reason, attempts to incorporate the persona of the opposite gender, the resulting behaviour is always dysfunctional.

If you choose to believe that I was attacking women, then that's your issue, not mine.

Conner -- I wasn't getting into that political=cultural discussion (and I really don't want to any more than you do, beyond registering a strong disagreement with the premise). Nor did I think you were trashing women to say that: I thought it was just an inaccurate word to describe what was going on <i>with Brad, in Dom's story</i>. If "feminized" means "made to be like a woman," and the women in the world of Dom's stories are the nearest examples of what women are like, and the thing we want to describe is Brad losing his initiative, his determination, his courage, and his ability to speak for himself, which is what I think you wanted to describe (and I could be wrong), then the word doesn't do the job <i>in this case</i>.

I don't think that's what's happening to Brad in the long run anyway. I think it's important to recall that Brad, Marissa, and Quinn were inseperable best friends since sandbox days and it's really quite reasonable, given Quinn's response to having his world shaken up, that Brad would also have a period of deer-in-the-headlights, since their personalities and (non)coping mechanisms developed together (apparently under the leadership of Marissa).

Another thing I'd like to throw in which is only tangentially related -- notice how Bree and Quinn keep emphasizing what a wonderful kid Marissa was before high school? -- (aside from a stupid lasting feud with Trina) -- I think this is important. I think it's easy to underestimate her good qualities because we're seeing her through the eyes of a person who is forcefully disentangling himself from her.

Brad is messing up in four areas - trust, loyalty, honour and integrity.

Conner

Quinn treated both Brad and Marissa like crap while he was struggling to deal with being gay. He pushed them away, fought with them, blithely rejected them, all without explanation. They are supposed to feel no pain or anguish over this reaction? They are supposed to just accept his struggle, and go "OK, so that's why you hurt me so badly. Oh, it's all OK now" and hug him? You ignore the considerable issues that Brad is dealing with. Sounds like his family has some pretty tough issues themselves. I guess Quinn's irrational actions as he deals with being gay trumps the health of Brad's mom? Nonsense.

I think Brad's actions regarding Marissa are completely logical. They are the only two of "The Three Musketeers" that are still together, and naturally they would bond over that. Besides, women tend to be much more in tune to relationships, and it seems natural that Marissa would guide him towards healing the wounds.

i guess will find out in 23. i hope there will be more sex...... 0:)

Im beginning to wonder if Quinn is actually ever going to come out to his mother or not

i can see one of two things happening with that, the first being that the story ends with her in perpetual darkness, which has so far been a good thing (so long as she doesn't ask Jude too many questions in the coming chapters, as that appears to be the likely scenario of the light overhead coming on and illuminating the truth that is currently shrouded with mystery.)

the other thing is that she already knows, and she is trying to pry it out of him (Quinn) by messing with Jude.... BUT i have an overactive imagination and it appears that anything i think i can see happening, never actually happens....
