Don't you know - you can't post a chapter until AFTER we have created a thread to whine about when is the next chapter going to be up...

Sheesh... Authors.... 0:)

OMG - only got about 1/3 through it so far - Dan just called and we're heading out to a meeting together... but I had JUST gotten to... well - if people haven't read it yet, let's just say about the 1/3 mark, there is an incredible scene that made me smile (and wanna spurt)...

So far, so GREAT - heh - hopefully the meeting will be over quick and I can finish reading ch 12...

Did I like loose a couple days? I swear I just read DD Ch11! We barely had time to overanalyze the last chapter :2thumbs:

<the above is NOT a complaint>

I'm just saying :P

Finally finished and gotta say - another fantastic chapter Dom. Very sensual, very funny and as usual - CLIFFHANGER!

heh

I'm glad you said that DD may be longer than TLW as I love the characters and am very interested in where you take them - should be a great ride.

Thanks again (as always)...

How does the man do this? Another chapter appears as nonchalantly as if it took

about 10 minutes to write it, and storms through the range of emotions leaving us

breathless, maybe a little damp (!) and drooling with anticipation for the next instalment!

The scene in the park is sooo teasing, so horny without actually getting anywhere very much -

hell, Rory just about gets his hands under Aaron's shirt, then his phone rings! :P

How long can the Master Storyteller keep stringin us all along like this? But hey, it's great too -

wouldn't have it any other way.

Yeah, I love the uncertainty and the tentativeness of it all, and the confusion of who is the good guy

and who screwed up! What's more of course this lack of progress means more horny stuff to come.

Yep, our Dom knows how to play his audience like a fisherman who's a master at his sport.

Ya gave me quite a memorable lunch break, Dom .... and I'm still sittin here saying "What the f**k?" as the frame freezes outside Seth's house.....

LOL excellent chapter! And I was actually thinking during the day "it's about time Dom put out the next chapter, I bet it's there when I get home." and look it was! (he did say he was going to try to put out two a week for awhile, so one every 3 or 4 days is about right, and it had been 4 days. I think this is awesome and amazing, and I'm sure not complaining :D .

I think like Rory I'm growing to like Seth less and less by the minute. Maybe I'm just in a goofy mood but I found this chapter to contain so many rich, imaginative mental images and funny situations. I love the way Dom writes! LOL like the part

But that didn

This still wasn't a date. I doubted I'd put out like this on a first date.

I just love this line. I laugh every time I read it. :D

Okay, I'll admit I really didn't like Rory. He was whiney and irritating. But now he's moved on to that slightly neurotic, querkyness that Dom does with such flair. Thank you, Dom. Querky I can deal with, irritating is just.....well, irritating.

So now I've decided that Rory will end up with Seth. Think about it. Luke's too close (in that whole cousin/brother way), it can't be Aaron (tls  ) because then I'd have to listen to Vic scream all the way from the West Coast. Therefore, by process of elimination, that leaves Seth. Makes perfect sense.

Sharon

No, no, no, Nope ... I think Rory should end up with Dave (str8 best friend thing again)

Wait. This is supposed to be my least favorite of Dom's story. Well, I guess it still is, but it sure is growing on me, and I'm finding Rory is starting to be a sympathetic character. And given that we now have Seth to hate, Aaron is looking a little better.

Hmmm. In chapter 52, 40-year-old Luke discovers that the younger guy he's been dating for a few weeks is Seth and Angela's son. Jase dumps Aaron and goes back to Eddie. Rory is still trying to figure out how he feels. Eddie tells Alice she can't stay any longer, and needs to move to assisted living. But then comes the cliffhanger. . . .

I actually had to reread the chapter to get the full affect. The first time around I got the warm fuzzies with all of that lip action, but it was interrupted by people in Europe and the Northeast instant messaging me again and again about mindless crap. So by the time I got back the magic was gone and I was yelling at Rory for getting horizontal with the little slut in the middle of the park when I knew I was supposed be sporting wood over it...

ANYWAY, while reading the story, I did a little experimenting. While Rory and Aaron were just talking in the park I noticed that Dom never went out of his way to describe Rory as male, so I tried to imagine him as a female, and I realized two things. One, is that Rory is a bitch. The other is that Aaron is an asshole. How? Well, at various points in the discussion, Aaron was clearing showing that he was getting annoyed with Rory, and made sarcastic comments while obviously trying to get in his pants. This line comes to mind: "Yeah, you know, that thing people do when they want to spend some time alone together... getting to know each other." He actually had the nerve to roll his eyes at me as he said this. I wanted to punch Aaron in the throat for that one.

But then, Rory wasn't helping. He was too busy being a little bitch and trying to put everything that had happened on Aarons shoulders, like this:

"I like you," he said quietly, glancing over at me. "You get on my nerves sometimes..."

"It feels like all the time..."

"But I don

Hmmm...the inner feminist in me takes offense at this statement :P . So if Rory is a female he's a 'bitch', but if Rory is a man, he's just 'Aggressive, Strong, Dominant?'

Wow Dom....

I never thought having mono would have its upsides. I mean to me it seemed as it was only a few hours since ch. 11, but ya know sleeping for 36 hours straight does help a little. Well anyways , I loved the chapter and I am glad it is going to be a pretty lengthy story

Will someone PLEASE bitchslap, Rory? Aaron must be nuts, he'd be better off having an affair with Chy.

Ok I didn't mean mean to insult the females and Vic. What I meant was that for the moment, it seemed as though Rory was operating under the mentality that he is right, everyone who thinks otherwise is wrong, and he has to have his way; that kind of bitch. Pretty soon he'll be wearing mascera, lipstick, eye shadow, mini skirts, and pumps (What are pumps, anyway? I'm jus throwing random terms out there :P ).

See, see! I'm not the only one who thinks so! :2thumbs: Well, all except for the Chey thing. I mean, come on. She deserves better than that.

Hey Folks I'm new here, so be gentle with me

Aaron is a spoilt brat who always gets what he wants, and like every spoilt brat throws it away again just as soon as he's had his fun. (When applied to other guys ...Yes it makes him a Slut)

Rory has inadvertantly become a pawn in the on-off relationship between Aaron and Seth. I think Seth is probably Bi and Aaron doesn't like having to share with the result that he's now fawning all over Rory infront of Seth as revenge...a "see what your missing" type thing.

Luke will spot this and try to explain it to Rory, but he'll think it's still sour grapes regarding Aaron.

I think there is yet more to the Luke and Aaron story, to be revealed.

This is the first of Dom's stories that I've managed to be current with....and I'm looking forward to the next chapter

The Aaron(tls) dislikers of the group will probably have a rough and tumble time over the next dozen chapters or so, but I strongly believe(hope) that Rory with end up with Luke when all's said and done.

Okay, it's Newbie day -- I'm new as well. I've read all of Dom's serials so far and I'm a huge fan of them, but there does come a moment in them when I want to strangle the protagonist because he just can't seem to keep himself together. Take a valium, dammit. Not that, in this case, Rory isn't right. No one -- not his mom, his grandmother, his father, Luke, Aaron or Dave -- has been entirely honest. In fact, right now, the most honest of the whole group is Seth. And although I have sympathy for Rory, I do think he's being a little slow catching on to his own emotions. Well, no so much that as catching on what to do with them. Which is why he needs a valium. I had the same problem with the characters in The Log Way and The Ordinary Us. And he's what I really like about Dom Luca's stories -- they don't end on a cleanly happy note. Just like life. The endings are happy to a point, but there are always unfinished, uncomfortable facets.

Anyway, I'm a sucker for a good story well-told, and Dom has found his talent.

We can't be too sure of that. So far we have heard from Seth only once. Every other appearance he has made has simple been him being silent and hiding under that ballcap. That combination makes him a very mysterious character, and forces Rory's mind into a tailspin everytime Seths name comes up because he has no idea what the boy's deal is.

Rory bashing is easy and fun but lets think about what he's been through.

>His mother was sick for a long time- 2+ years. That doesn't go away in a few months.

>He has been sent to live with a father that he has never known and that alone is enough of an issue to cause a lot of trouble.

>He has no idea what his father, "uncle" or "cousin" are going to think about him being gay. So, he has to go through coming out all over again (until chapter 10)

>He is away from every support system he's ever known.

>He knows that there are a lot of things that he doesn't know.

Don't you reckon that's enough stress, pressure and anxeity to make anybody act like a bitch?

Cut the kid a break. He is doing as well or better than could reasonably be expected.

While I've said before that TOU and TLW would make great indie films, IMO DD is just a big old soap opera. That's not exactly a criticism, just an observation.

Since in DD nothing is ever as it seems, Aaron could turn out to be the hero in all of this :o .

Kitty

LOL I agree Kitty, DD does seem like a big soap opera, and you're right Aaron could end up being the "hero"! And you're right that's not necessarily a bad thing :-)

Unfortunately I think you may be right Ramius, though I'd prefer to think Aaron wouldn't do something like that (anymore). Things between Seth and Aaron are definitely complicated, and I think even if on some level Aaron is trying to make Seth jealous, he may still have feelings for Rory, and also there's a good chance he isn't AWARE of the fact that he's using Rory to get at Seth. Often people aren't really cognizant of their underlying motivations, especially the less savory ones.

Ok granted Quinn often drove me nuts too, and I'd have to say I think overall he had less excuse for his mistakes than Rory, who's been through alot. But what's wrong with OWEN??? He hardly drove me crazy at all, and he'd had a very tramatic experience too. LOL ok so maybe Owen is one of my favorite characters and I'm a little partial but really I think he handled most of his problems in a very healthy, mature way, and the few mistakes he did make seemed very natural and understandable. Like not wanting to tell Aiden about his mother warning him off, I mean who wants to wreck their boyfriend's relationship with his mom, especially a newly healed relationship. Sure it was a mistake on Owen's part, but a very understandable one.....Ok maybe I did go a little off topic lol.

You're quite right James, I know I'm one of the guilty "Rory bashers", but you're right. Rory has been through alot and perhaps he is handling it fairly well. I think I just got into the habit of criticizing Quinn (who had it coming :P ), but Rory's situation is worse and more tramatic for him. We should cut him some slack. ***takes back his nasty remark about Rory's personality earlier in this thread***

HUH? I think you've lost me. Aaron is Keslin...Aaron Keslin. But in general yes I'd agree that Aaron may be using Rory to get at Seth, but I hope not. I really don't think Aaron is that bad anymore, and from what we've seen of Seth, Aaron's better off with Rory anyway, so he should forget Seth and be happy with Rory (yeah I know that MAY not be his opinion and maybe it's all a big game to him,,,but I don't think so)....Of course I think he was best off with Luke, but he obviously screwed that up. Anyway can't wait to see what happens next.

I know this happens every chapter, but what has Aaron done in this chapter to deserve the customary chorus about how much he's reformed? He's still manipulating Rory and if Seth really said that stuff to him how likely is Aaron to take Rory back to Seth's? Leaving the car aside, Aaron is still someone who makes stuff up all the time and is pushing a younger and isolated kid very hard.

The really interesting question from this chapter is why Jase is so angry with Eddie and why Luke is so weird when he asks if Rory likes Aaron. And what James sad, Rory's been through a hell of a lot, if less than Owen. Even so, Owen still had a support system in his brothers. Rory has people who lie to him and walk away (or hang up) if he asks what's happening.
