GA Classroom: Writing Challenges

I bought a book with daily writing challenges (yes, for students, but in the grand scheme of things, aren't we all students?) for a student-centered approach to composition and creative writing. And my first thought was... let's do it together! A GA Classroom, if you will, since learning is often done best as a group where discussion can happen. You're welcome to join in for each and every lesson challenge or just try the ones that fit within your schedule. But if you have a whole week, instead of just one day, what excuse do you have not to do your homework? LOL So pick up your 📓 🖊️ ✏️ and let's get started! 

 

Or... not. How about a little more direction first? I thought we'd just have a nice intro today, and I'll share the information in our newsletter tomorrow as well. Make sure you're following that, because I'm going to do the lesson each week in the Writer's Circle Club on Saturday/Sunday, and then the following week I'll feature the previous week's lesson challenge and response(s) in the newsletter (one or more, depending on how long the responses are). And I might do a mid-week promo in a site announcement. Or on GA's social media. It all depends on how brilliant you guys are! I will keep a list of who'ss been featured, to make it as fair as possible for all who participate, and rotate to make sure it's a new person each week if enough join in. 

 

Want to know what sort of things we'll be doing? Well, I won't go into the different lessons specifically, and these aren't the book's chapter titles. I've actually gone through and written up my own, and I thought I'd share some of them for you. We're doing an assortment of things from talking about writing, to word choices, to grammar challenges, to plotting and characterization lessons, to poetry fun (I didn't forget the poets in the group) and even some business writing because, face it, we're adults and we really should remember how to write somewhat cohesive and professional letters, essays, reviews, etc... And you can try to guess what the last two games at the bottom are, lol!
