Boring too. No sun, grey sky all day. Spent most of it in bed reading. I made quiche for dinner. It's just me and mom tonight, dad's gone to a concert and lil bro is with his friends.

If I'm honest, most of the times I've thought about having a kid of my own. Unfortunately, my financial situation won't allow me to take surrogacy as an option. 

 

Adopting will prove to be a challenge. But one that will be worthy. My fear is having to face a social worker, whose mind is set on the notion that there cannot be two daddies, but a daddy and a mommy. I know times have changed, and this is just an unfounded fear, but you never know. 

 

Fostering... I don't know. I'm afraid I'll be heartbroken to see them go, but happy that they found a loving home. 

I bet you would make a great dad... you have all the qualities needed, especially humor.

I just got back from the vet... they gave me the wrong protections... I wanted her protected from heartworm too, so I have to change the pills they gave me... she has to have a blood test to see if she has heartworm first, but that only takes a week so she will be covered before mosquito season. I have an appointment in three weeks for her booster shot, so I'll get it all done then, and switch over to the flea, tick, and heartworm pills.    Why don't they listen?

I've had some personal practice for fatherhood with Mickey. He feels like a brother to me, but I have to play the bad cop side on occasion. Someone has to be legally responsible for him when he's visiting, and Morgan, unfortunately, is too much of a pushover for his baby bro.   

With that said, I love spending time with him. Fishing, swimming, kicking a soccer ball...it's hard to keep up with an athletic kid like him when I'm so out-of-shape, but I manage. Sometimes he helps me in the kitchen. When it's snowing or raining, we'll snuggle on the sofa and watch

Stranger Things on Netflix.

The world needs more strict parents.  Having boundaries and expectations is a good thing, and so are manners.

I believe so too. Sometimes, I see my brother and his wife being too hard on their daughters. I try to stay out of it (they're their parents after all), but when I can't hold myself anymore, I intervene. Tough luck if they don't like it.

My brother and I welcomed our baby brother when we were fourteen and fifteen. So, I can relate to your other half.  I instantly became another parent, a friend, a protector, a teacher, a cook and a confident. And it's true. It's been a great practice for the real deal.

Earlier this week I edged some of mum's flowerbeds. Made them slightly smaller. Today I cut and laid sod to fill in the gaps. Then I spread some fresh mulch in the beds along the front entrance. 

Mum has caught a cold and is feeling a bit poorly.

Tomorrow she and I are going on a staycation at a nearby Hilton resort. We'll be there all week.
