Help finding a story

Hello all I hope I am posting this in the correct section. I read a story some time ago on nifty and now cannot remember it to save my life. It involved all kids having to wear the same clothing and getting shocked or someting like that if they wore anything else. It was the beginning of a series that I don't think ever continued something like golden circle or circlet project something like that. Any help would be useful.
