Horror Prompt- "Is someone there?"

Since Halloween is around the corner, I want to offer folks an interesting prompt that I'm toying with for a short story.

Everyone has had this feeling of being watched, being followed, or a presence nearby when no one is visibly there. It's at the heart of ghosts, stalkers, and monster stories that frighten people.

The prompt setup is: You were walking home, alone at night. You feel like someone is following, but even when you get home and close the door, you don't feel safe as you notice something in your home... Someone else has been or is still there
