Any doctors in the house?

I'm currently writing a story involving a doctor, preferably general surgeries since the protagonist is a general surgeon. I'm very keen when doing research and I would like to get some information or references about such procedures.

Any help would be gladly appreciated.

A better option might be to contact a general surgeon at your local hospital. You could arrange an interview and ask them questions about their job, as a reporter might do.
