Site Administrator Popular Post Myr Posted Saturday at 09:09 PM Site Administrator Popular Post Posted Saturday at 09:09 PM With the upcoming switch to Invision Community 5.0, they will be dropping a few outdated features. One of those features is "Status Updates" on your profile. As I know some people are still using them, I've created this new forum specifically to drop status update like content. Feel free to post about what's on your mind (outside of political junk of course) 5 5 2
Ron Posted Sunday at 01:07 AM Posted Sunday at 01:07 AM My thoughts... If it isn't repopulated by 'Did you know' — that being a confiscated and repurposed non-important thing from the way-back of internet history. I'm of the opinion that that drivel either chased off or pushed away those considered status updates from members who may have offered something of real interest to know about. Posts from authors and readers dropped off dramatically when the 'Did You Know' material began taking over the status updates section, and it became an infomercial for one individual. But now that Status Updates has been relegated into the backwaters my argument against that nonsense is most likely moot. 3

Popular Post Thirdly Posted Sunday at 08:52 AM Popular Post Posted Sunday at 08:52 AM Farewell 'status updates.' @sandrewn's already made a blog I just followed, and that was all I was concerned about (I happen to enjoy binge reading them whenever I have downtime). 2 5

I'll miss the status updates. It gave a little glimpse into how people were doing. 2 7

The people with telemetry for all their software. The feature was apparently little used and more of a social media thing than a community thing. According to them, they chose to focus on stuff people use. 5 1

Totally agree. I have been a long time reader, and only a member for less than 2 yrs. Once I discovered status updates, I visited at least once a day, I enjoyed the constant updates on member badges, story reviews, and yes little known facts or information. I have no idea of the past status update history. I just thought members posted and we could choose to read and react or not. I gained a lot of insight into the backgrounds and current activity of all members from posts and levels of their activity via badge updates. I will miss status updates also. 2 4

I think I had left you a note the other day on your status page and it disappeared so fast. 🤣 It wasn't anything important, I was just saying hi. 5
Popular Post CassieQ Posted Tuesday at 03:01 AM Popular Post Posted Tuesday at 03:01 AM I don't think I realized that we couldn't see any of our old status updates once that feature was gone. That one hit a little hard. 2 5

Haha. Thanks for your patronage. That'd be $25.99 for my OnlyFans subscription. I'd probably finish this early next year. 2
Site Administrator Popular Post Valkyrie Posted Tuesday at 09:30 PM Site Administrator Popular Post Posted Tuesday at 09:30 PM I will miss the status updates feature, even though I did find myself using it less. I still read them almost daily and posted otter memes on @wildone's wall and penguin memes on @Slytherin's. This forum will serve the same purpose, though. And we get to have all the In Otter News pics in one place! 2 2 3
