   3. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not the views of Gay Authors.    7. In addition, when you post a message, upload a file, or otherwise provide us with material for display on the Gay Authors website, you are granting Gay Authors and CDEJR Web Services, LLC and its successors a royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive, unrestricted, worldwide license to:
      1. Use, copy, sublicense, adapt, transmit, publicly perform, publish or display all such material in any medium or venue or publication, printed or electronic, which medium may or may not exist at this time and without further compensation or attribution, unless otherwise explicitly marked.

      4. The above applies to any material posted on the entire website, except for material posted in the Stories archive software used to display stories on Gay Authors.
   8. All rights (including copyright) to original written works posted by members in the Stories Archive area of the site are retained by the respective authors, unless other agreement is made between the author and Gay Authors.
   9. You agree to receive email from time to time from this site. The first will be email confirmation of registration.
      1. Your account may be terminated for cause if you report emails from Gay Authors as spam.
      2. Yahoo.com is prohibited due to their inappropriate flagging as spam valid emails.  Member using Yahoo emails will be required to change email address to a non-Yahoo email upon system detecting such an inappropriate flagging.
   10. You must disclose in your signature if you are an active agent of a political party or other political organization that would be subject to campaign finance laws.

This agreement was updated on March 3, 2024, to reflect updates and clarifications to site policy.

• Things such as complete removal of stories from GA, for self-publishing or subbing to publishers, will preclude authors from being promoted to Promising or Signature.  While we understand some stories are removed for personal reasons, using GA as a beta/editing service for later publication is unacceptable.  Some stories may be eligible for movement to the site Premium section, but authors should check with site staff prior to making the decision to remove stories for publication.
• Poor site behavior, including antagonizing readers and members
• Not engaging with the community at Gay Authors

The best approach for promotion is to post quality content, engage members and readers in a friendly manner, avoid controversy, and don't post and remove stories.

By registering at Gay Authors, you are certifying that you are at least thirteen (13) years of age and that your participation at GA does not violate the laws of the location where you live. 

Any account determined to have a member under the age of 13 will be closed by the administrators.

Important Note: Yahoo.com Email addresses are prohibited because Yahoo constantly blocks emails from Gay Authors.

• New members will be prompted to set up their group when they join the site.
• Once you have an active account on Gay Authors, you can change your member group between Member, Author, Poet and Editor. Current Members can change groups in their Account Settings:

• If you have a special account such as Classic Author, you will not be able to change your own group.

• First you have to gain the ability to post in GA Stories by gaining Author status.  You can do this by visiting the GA store and purchasing them for free.  Once you have selected “Activities” from the red menu bar, locate "Store" in the drop menu. Under the “Member Groups” area, choose the Author or Poet group and follow any additional directions on the screen.

I purchased Author/Poet from the store, but my title did not change, what do I do now?

• Log out of GA, clear your cache, and log back in.  Your title should change after this step.

Note: Yahoo.com Emails are banned because Yahoo frequently falsely reports Gay Authors emails as spam or blocks us.

Important- Your email account most stay active. If an email from Gay Authors bounces or is reported as spam, your account is automatically suspended until a new email account is provided.

Members have access to more stories, have less ads, can follow stories to receive notifications of new content, and can provide feedback to authors. (Feedback via reactions, comments and reviews are often the only compensation authors receive for their hard work)

Optional Premium Membership has a small monthly free that provides additional stories and no ads on site. 

Promising Authors:

• Demonstrate a basic level of writing ability
• Actively seek and accept assistance to improve their writing
• Participate in and contribute to the GA community
• Promote the GA site (ex. If posting elsewhere, link back to GA)
• Show initiative in promoting their work and growing their reader base, and/or are open to learning how
• Actively engage their readers (respond to reviews)
• Promising Authors must be willing to agree to post concurrently on Gay Authors any new material with the exception of personal blogs

Signature Authors:

• Have an existing body of quality writing
• Established a strong reader base on GA
• Actively participate in the GA Community
• Cross-promote and link back to GA when posting stories elsewhere
• Encourage off-site readers to join the GA community
• Actively engage their readers (respond to reviews)
• Signature Authors must be willing to agree to post concurrently on Gay Authors any new material with the exception of personal blogs

Classic Authors

• Signature Authors can request "Classic Author" status if they have reached the point where they will no longer be posting new stories on a regular basis.
• Authors that have already been established on other sites and are coming to Gay Authors to post their content, can apply to be considered for Classic Author status. 

How do I let the team know I want to become a promoted author?

• Nominations can be made via PM to any Author Promotion Team member.  You can find the list of Author Promotion Team members in the Staff Directory.  The Author Promotion Team is also actively watching for authors that meet the criteria.

Who can nominate an author?

• Any member of GA can nominate an author for promotion, including the author themselves.

• A Promising, Classic, or Signature Author is an author who has achieved a level of performance, gained some recognition by the staff and membership at GA, and have entered into an agreement with Gay Authors concerning the hosting and promotion of their stories.

What are the differences between Signature, Classic, and Promising Authors?

• Signature Authors are active authors who consistently produce high quality stories and represent some of Gay Authors' best writing.  Classic Authors were at one point Signature Authors but either do not post regularly or have retired from writing altogether.  Classic Authors can also be authors recognized for their works posted to other sites over the years.  Promising Authors are Gay Authors up and coming authors and will typically be promoted to Signature within a year or so.

What is the purpose of Promising Author status?

• The purpose of Promising Author status is to help develop writers who have already shown initiative in improving their writing and promoting themselves; to give up-and-coming writers exposure and help them build a fan base prior to being considered for Signature Author status.

Promising Authors:
