  2. Not what one would expect with the title but I really enjoyed the plot. You can wish there was more but I feel the ending was still quite appropriate.

    Chapter 3

Thanks for all the comments so far (terrible jokes aside). I'm actually still editing this story even as I begin to post it; last night, I decided that a key part of chapter 6 was underwritten, and I actually ended up adding around 1,000 words to it (it's a daunting 8,500 words now, compared to my chapter-by-chapter target of 6,000 words). In a way, I may have started posting too soon, but I'd been grinding away at writing this story since the end of December and I was keen to start putting it out there. It hasn't always been the easiest of writing journeys. Memory game time. Who do we know who worked or aspired to work on the Amalfi ferries, and might have reason to reject an ugly soul like Vincenzo? In the swimming scene, there's one thing I was half expecting you to mention but, since you didn't, I'll bring it up myself. For all Cosmo's many deficiencies, through his eyes we nonetheless get our first entirely positive physical description of Marco. I thought it was important to provide a firm contrast to our little mouse's own lack of self-belief. Looking at Luca, Vincenzo and (if we go back to earlier stories) maybe even Enzo, I wonder if there's a thing with heterosexual boys in my stories being written as less sympathetic? I feel like I/we would naturally find them less relatable, and I'm actually glad that Vincenzo read to you both as overtly hetero from the beginning. I wasn't trying to hide it; just to insert enough ambiguities for Cosmo latch onto and get the wrong end of the stick, so to speak. As to Luca... I don't think he's ever really integrated that take on Cosmo's choices when they were younger into his worldview, despite Dani suggesting it as far back as the last story. Who knows, maybe this story will allow him to grow into his relationship with Cosmo a little? Aargh! 😩 (I do, since you brought it up... but if I lived in Ravello, I'd be tempted to brave a Vespa.)

    Chapter 8

Later as we know River and Kenji will have a front row seat to what was happening with Alec and Finn I wonder if observing those two help them navigate their own relationship. I had no idea how much paint was smeared over my person and I quickly lost track of time. If River went out in public with all that paint on him would Anyone really notice?🤔 So Kenji overheard a member of his staff speak of Rivers page. I hope you write a scene where River shows up with Kenji at his place of work I would love to see the staff member reaction
  5. Good advice... although at times it feels like life can be a dumpster fire and you need to douse those flames with a giant extinguisher of whoop ass. 🤭
  6. If you enjoy travel-themed romance and LDR, this will be good for you. It’s really sweet and great happy ending.

    Chapter 3

You could always switch your car nav on James, assuming you have a car (I don't and never have). And I have just realised this does not really work as you have a second r. Have I not noticed this before? I am not sure if I have or if I am suffering from temporary insanity (I don't have enough hair left anymore to be blonde).
  8. This a beautiful story with an intensity that can leave you breathless. A bit of a trigger warning for mental health issues. Otherwise, well written and a great read.

    Chapter 3

With jokes as good as these, I see I'm going to be making extensive use of the 'Sad' reaction to represent 'Groan' in the comments on this story!
  10. There is actually a bit of mystery and humor in this. It’s a bit of a riot and a fun read if you ask me.
  11. Hopefully Alec's truth-telling will also have an impact on his father and he will finally grow a spine too. Let Mae die alone; a lonely, bitter and twisted woman, who drove away with hate and scorn those she should have loved. River stop smoking. It is a filthy, unhealthy, disgusting and very expensive habit. You are too good for smoking. I have but one thing to say @Demiurge and it you better work, Supermodel. Mae, long may you suffer and rot, bitch.
  12. Yeah, they discovered the pitfalls of alcohol but were fortunate to get away with it.
  13. 6th June 1991: I hate missing sessions to write. I'm itching these days to tell you what’s happening. I must get myself checked out if I keep referring to this book as a person. It can't be healthy… can it? Christ, I have no idea, but hey, I guess there could be worse things than talking to a book; then again, isn’t that how writers go crazy? They spend too much time talking to the book or themselves. I saw that somewhere, or maybe read it… or perhaps I'm starting to get weird from all the

As a foreigner with English as only a second language (I am a Quebecois and my first language is French), I find Nigel Gordon's stories and novels to be very revealing of certain aspects of daily life in England and fascinating. I believe that we can also break it among the great UK authors.
  15. Heartwarming series. Love the build-up.
  16. I know, this was posted years ago and the author doesn’t seem to be active here any more. But, I just came across this recently and have to leave a review. I truly enjoyed this story. The ending is not as expected (or “satisfactorily ended” as some would say) but I quite liked it - it’s a point of contention for some readers but to me the author had essentially did their job as an author - they got people talking. It’s well written and doesn’t follow a typical “the end” template and makes one think and ponder. That’s why it’s so good.

    Chapter 3

You should be careful making any comment which could be construed as anti-Russian @weinerdog. It could result in you being Putin an uncomfortable or very dangerous situation.

    Chapter 3

It wasn't that bad of a pun. Don't go Russian to any conclusion
  20. The little girl is Finn's niece. Veronica is still a nasty bitch. Alec's mother has not changed any more than his father has. I am looking forward to Alec's showdown with her. If she is her usual spiteful self I wonder if Alec's father may finally snap. Maybe he will pull the plug on her. Good riddance if he does. There is no doubt Alec has mental health issues, but then so do both his parents. His mother believes her self to be blessed, but she is surely addicted to piety and religious zealotry and has lived in a fantasy world for all of Alec's life at least. His father is weak-willed, nothing but a doormat for the hostilities and irrationalities of the odious woman he is married to.

    Chapter 47

If the throes of a fever look like an orgasm, maybe it's not so bad.

    Chapter 46

We must be on the Gregorian calendar as this date is past Paul's death.
  23. LaKuntia has erased all evidence of her son. What a devotee to zealotry. Perhaps she thinks it will be her safe passage to "heaven". And Henry as we now learn is his name. It seems his balls still have not dropped. How did he ever manage to father a child. Perhaps he is not Alec's biological father. And Veronica, still a bitch. I heard her condescending catty tone as she spoke to River and Alec. Spiteful nasty harridan has not changed at all. And Finn, well I expect the next chapter will reveal much about him.

    Chapter 13

Kage 💯 percent was supposed to be a complete asshole. But he decided otherwise. He's still embedded in my brain, living rent free.
