    Chapter 1

These are wonderful, tim! As always, nicely done.
  5. It was not the only time that I intervened in the affairs of Navarre or disrupted the affairs of the Habsburg Empire and their lapdog priests from New Rome. The quotas that I obtained from the Bishop caused only a slight stir, the priest and his guards went missing on the road without witnesses except for the basque boy and the elderly tanner, who did not know my true identity or purpose. Sadly, Habsburg and church agents did enter the area and sought out locals and the appearance of the boy liv
  6. I didn't really know him at all, except by reputation here. Still, I was shocked when @Sherye Story Reader told me. I know I've read a couple of his stories - there are just too many to have gotten too far in the relatively short time I've been here or on nifty. I have to echo what @James Carnarvon said about his stories never being finished and add that it's sad that he'll never see the comments that are yet to be written by people still reading him for the first time. Very sad. I wonder if the rest of the folks here might chip in and continue some of his unfinished work... Maybe it's best to leave them as they are. RIP Comsie.

Who would have thunk that beings from alternate galaxies, dimensions, parallel universes, and from parts hither and unknown would ever need one of the most basic sanitary conveniences...humm...unless they are used by Dr Who's telephone boxes??? Carefully opening the door, I found a well lit bathroom. There was a port-a-loo to the left and a plastic shower to the right. Well, even ritual murderers had bodily functions. Having a shower in the cold cellar was probably not pleasant. I wondered how they’d transported these things down here through the narrow staircase. As to the cliffhanger....hang in there @Al Norris
  9. No need to feel stupid, I it probably wasn't totally obvious.
  10. The silver Twenty-Twenty Lincoln Navigator turned into the townhouse complex and pulled into the spot next to Brandon’s Hyundai. Linda and her husband, Tom, climbed out of the vehicle, and she locked the doors. As they walked up the stairs, Tom noticed the vehicle parked next to Greg’s truck. The patriarch whistled as he pointed at it and said, “Babe, look at the CJ7.” Linda turned her head and nodded. “I’ve never seen another one like it before. It’s definitely unique,” she said.
  11. Oh, okay, it was meant that literally. I feel stupid now 😬🤦‍♂️😅
  12. I wanted it to be way overboard. I'm afraid, I don't get this one The singer Meat Loaf sang a song 'Two Out of Three Ain't Bad." Two of the three people that I mentioned Cal still having, aside from Karl, she'd still have. It was a slight foreshadowing of Stephanie's departure.
  13. Thank you, k. I know there are no easy answers. I remember when I worked at the bank, people would complain about homeless people who huddled where the ABMs were. Often, they don't help themselves and can be rude. Not all end up like that, but many do. I get it. There is something wrong in our world. I don't have the answers, but I agree that governments must help their populations. There are indigenous people here who live in shacks and don't have running water or clean water. We need to fix ourselves before fixing everyone else.
  14. A mixed bag of emojis agrees with you.
  15. Yes, Stephanie went pretty much off the tracks. I don't know if she's the worst character, but definitely very hateable.
  16. The people of Timberford were huddled around the tavern. In spite of night’s encroachment their voices rang with excitement, not fear. No sooner had Crowe and Barghast broke from the line of trees, the crowd was at them, raised not in shouts of accusation but triumph. “You did it…You defeated the beast…” “You can heal the sick. Monad has sent you to save us from the darkness…” “The herald is here at last.” “Twin o’rre!” Barghast reached for him through the press of bodies bu

Thank you for reading them. I'm glad you liked 2. As the author, it's very clear I wasn't sure whether people would get it, but I'm delighted that some did. Thanks again for your comments and for reading these.
