#5 might be about another person, but your words took me to that place where I am missing myself... and that serenity and peace of mind when my world feels in balance. At any rate, a superb poem. I've traveled in canoes and on rafts during my time on earth. I think I needed both, but I'll always choose the canoe now. Another great poem. I felt the fear and darkness of #1, but it works so well with the last word being 'hope'. Thanks for these. Cheers.

Wow. Some great poetry here. I absolutely got lost in the old tree. It was wonderful. 'Shame on my tongue' was beautiful, yet sad too. I understood. This is a collection to be proud of, Parker. I hadn't heard of or seen a golden russet in many years. I swear I can smell and taste on just from memory. The ones I remember weren't as smooth skinned as others. 'The apple of my eye' was charming, and ended with the best of lines. Well done!

Maybe, or at the very least it might not be as severe as Mike is making it out to be. Ultimately, they would've had to move, because of Mike's mom's illness, since the house was sold because they needed the money. It just so happened to happen around the time he was being bullied, so it could've just been a coincidence that he's internalized, which he has a habit of doing. He suffers from low self-esteem and he internalizes a lot of his issues. Mike has not been specific about what he experienced, and we only have his word for it, which isn't reliable. He might give us the actual details, but his reaction to them could likely be blown out of proportion. We don't know if he was beat up, called names and/or just whispered about. Bullying is a spectrum, and we're getting our information from someone who misreads people and situations a lot, especially under stress. I have no doubt that Mike was bullied; I don't think @Arch Hunter would throw that out there and it not be true. However, he's the only one who knows the truth, and he's said that he's letting the characters tell the story, which means he doesn't know either.

Come clean Linda. Tell the others. Lev will be telling Brandon soon as he drives away, I bet. Troy is badly hurt by Maddox. I hope he does not kill Troy. Will the sound of the shot and horse running away attract others? I cannot wait for the next chapter when all will be revealed.

I am heartbroken. You can learn a lot about someone reading their writings. Com's inner sweetness and light always came through loud and clear. When I first read, My Only Escape, I had to stop. It unlocked things inside me that I'd stuffed away for decades. I couldn't read because of the tears in my eyes, and I'm having the same problem now trying to write this. We've lost a brilliant author, but more importantly, one of the sweetest persons you could hope to meet, in person or online. His wit, charm and optimism were unmistakable in ever single paragraph. I expect there will be a tribute anthology, but what could I write that would be worthy? I can hear him laughing and calling that sentiment silly. Just don't set the time for the anthology too soon. Getting this one right won't be just a lark. This one demands our A game.

I can't believe it! The Bell road crew is actually replacing the lines on my road in the pouring rain. Al said he wanted to make sure I was looked after. OMG What a Sh.. Show ! Hannah got fully disgusted with Connor and M and threw them out to find their way home. Connor and M tried to play sexually but M kept having seiizures, They did each have orgasms The man in b;ack showed up while Connor was at work. M killed him leaving lots of blood in the trailer and on his body.M arrives at Pizza Hut covered in blood. The staff freakes out. Connor takes M home and his boss calls the police. Connor gets M home and sees the body and blood. He finds a document that says the man in black is an agent--a government agent? Connor buries him in the swamp. They flee using his car an $200 from his work. Connor does not know where to go. They are likely going to be wanted by the police and maybe considered murder suspects. The bloody shirt and blood in the trailer will be daming evidence.This looks hopeless for them. They might be caught very soon. Willl Mother step in at least to save M?

There's some potential evidence to support that Liam would look out for Mike, provided Mike was actually honest with Liam. Liam had asked if anyone was messing with Mike, and Mike lied about the small amount of bullying Mike experienced. Liam has been trying to get Mike to hangout with him and his other friends, who might know Liam is gay (they might be gay, themselves, as we assume Olivia and Abi are), but Mike keeps turning him down. Then there was the incident at the mall when Liam yelled at the kid and the boy's father for the kid bumping into Mike. There's been no evidence to support that Liam is afraid of confrontation; if anything, the incident at the mall shows that Liam has a backbone and isn't afraid to speak his mind, even to an adult in public, with a decent chance that Liam was ready to fight the dad to defend Mike.

You are absolutely right, too many open questions still... Your comment, one sentence actually (Mike is very lucky) has been a trigger for me to (over)think further. Liam is very nice and gentle...and whatever...in their personal communication. I would like to see him when real challenges occur. Not just about coming out whether yes or no, but will he stand up by Mike in front of family and friends? That was my question, not judgement.

I think you're over thinking my comment, and we also don't know that Liam is in the closet. We're getting everything from Mike's point of view and he's an unreliable narrator. He's very oblivious, poor at reading people--especially Liam--poor at reading situations, and over analyzes situations, while being completely off the mark and blowing situations out of proportion. There are plenty of examples starting in the first chapter to support that we can't take Mike at his word, so we actually don't know for certain what the real cause of him moving or the true extent of the bullying was. As for Liam, we've all guessed that Olivia wasn't his girlfriend, that she knows that Liam is into Mike, that the date at the mall was a double date coupling Mike & Liam and Olivia & Abi, and as stated in this chapter, Liam has been dropping hints that Mike hasn't been picking up, such as Liam telling Mike he has a nice cock. There's also no evidence one way or the other to assume that Liam's parents don't know he's gay; in fact, it could be one the "secrets" the twins threatened him with, that Liam himself said wouldn't work on him. Mike is far more likely to be too wrapped up in his own head to even notice that Liam isn't in the closet. And so what if Liam is? It doesn't mean that he has to come out to the whole of society now that he's with Mike. Mike hasn't come out, either. They could keep everything to themselves, come out to a few trusting people in their lives until they find a community that'll support them and their relationship. Again, my comment was just about the relationship between Mike and Liam, particularly since they started having sex, and how lucky Mike was to find someone who wants to look out for him and still tickle that kink that Mike seems to really like.

Comsie’s passing is truly saddening. My deepest condolences to his family and friends and his fans . I found GA about 6 years ago and New Kid was the first story I read and since I have probably read it 9 or so times since. I’ll be honest, I check GA every day awaiting new updates from any of his wonderful stories. He truly had a gift. One that I will truly miss. Not only did I enjoy him as an author but also somewhat as a shepherd, educating those who struggled to love themselves or be ok with who they are while sharing the ordeals of dealing with rejection, hate or intolerance. I am quite sure that thru his works as well as all of you who have contributed to this outlet for readers has saved many from making the inevitable mistake of taking the easy way out. For that we are all grateful for your endless efforts.
