  2. (Sometime in the past) "Danny, get down. It's getting dark!" the blue-eyed boy hollered from the foot of the massive oak tree, his soft and gentle expression peeking between the branches. Daniel had just climbed to the top of the tree and now sat at the highest branch, facing his uncle's cornfield, patiently waiting for the glorious sun to set on the horizon. It was his favorite part of the day, and ever since he could stand on his two legs, he had been clambering his way into e

    Chapter 9

At least Granger managed to warn Calvert beforehand, so he wasn't caught totally by surprise. I think George should hire a private investigator to check out Chalmers and his relationship to the man who was hanged. That may bring up stories about this Chalmers vowing to get revenge on Granger.

    Chapter 12

Will and Travis are great together, I really hope they'll make it as a couple long term. Surprisingly, I'm even thinking the same about JJ and Kris, though I normally couldn't care less about the drama queen.

Whilst I like Caroline, I do think she was just a little too inquisitive, particularly her question about Keith ever having a relationship with a woman again. Keith's response to her questioning seemed to please her, so I suspect her motives are genuine in that she is "fishing" to ensure Thomas is not going to be hurt. I get the impression she cares greatly for Thomas, whose relationship with his father appears to have been distant and fractured, although at least without the violence which plagued Keith's relationship with his father. Another of your wonderful physical descriptions @Robert Hugill. This time it was Isobel Bonner's turn. "She was a grey-haired woman, perhaps in her early 70s, tall and rather handsome with a very brisk manner. .... Rather proper, capable, and brusque, she seemed hardly the sort of person to be interested in art made from bits of plastic and Meccano. " I liked the description of Michael Atkinson's "artwork" too.

    My kind of Cliffie...
  7. Every Ok I’m confused. This was a great chapter but if Karen is Nathan’s sister, who’s the girl constantly all over him? Ginny or something?
  8. Seems I was on the mark about Gramps and Gran wanting to ensure that Oscar would own, (directly or 'In Trust'), or inherit property equivalent to that of his siblings (fairness to all regardless of his parent's decisions). Interesting to note that acquisition of lands, (whether a 'Private Coastal Reserve' or not), adjacent to the ocean and any shipwrecks therein, does not grant ownership of any treasures found to the discoverers, whether in the sea or on land. In fact 'The Crown' (Gov of Australia) claims vested ownership of any and all treasures. Darn, anyone with thoughts of finding and keeping treasure from the 1656 Dutch ship Vergulde Draeck / Silver Dragon, just had that vanish, like a dream!

    Chapter 11

I managed to read the first two lines of the chapter, and then I had to go and deal with some other stuff. All the time before I could get back to reading I was keeping my fingers crossed that Will would manage to hit the SWAT button, because I really wanted to read a description of what happened when Gills got taken down by them. Especially the look on his face We didn't get much of that, but I'm hoping for more in the next chapter when Jake (and Brad) confronts the Olympic security people.

    Chapter 7

I did enjoy the conversation between @Cane23 and @John Henry. I have always thought that Liam was out to his family and select others. Maggie is just too ... familiar with the whole situation and I suspect that the room sharing was deliberate and her reaction to Mike's request for his own room was from a woman who knows...
  12. And back to me. It's 420 Day today. It's also Volunteer Day. The volunteers will be having a lunch of Cheddar Fries and Pineapple Upside-Down Cake.
  13. Connor drove away from the ATM and turned out of the parking lot. They had close to $500 now and though Connor pocketed his ATM card, he wasn’t planning on using it again anytime soon. It wasn’t safe. Next step was finding a phone and luckily, Connor knew there was a payphone outside the Dollar Store, so they headed there first. It was just past midnight, and the roads were barren. Connor’s eyes were peeled, though. They had to get out of this car. They might as well have been drivin
  14. Sunday morning was quiet, Nate had an early service at one of his other parishes and Caroline accompanied him. So, Keith and Thomas organised their own breakfast, cereal, coffee and bacon butties in the garden. Thomas commented that before staying with Nate and Caroline he had usually slept late on Sunday but now he got up so that he could savour the time on his own. He smiled, “Aren’t I terrible!”. Then suddenly it was a mad panic to get dressed and ready in time for Nate and Caroline’s return.

  16. Beyond stunned. I had to do a double take to make sure I read the banner correctly. Such a tragic loss for his loved ones and friends alike, taken so young, is unfathomable. 😢 Comsie was a inspiration, a gentleman and a fine writer. I remember finding Gone from Daylight on Nifty, and I was hooked from the first chapter. He had such an easy style, it drew you in, once you were into his world, there was no getting away... not that you would want to. R.I.P. Comsie, you will be greatly missed. 💔
