  1. Friday night, after Aidan was safe and sound with Grandpa, Seamus dragged Matt out of the apartment and took him to Coffee|Bar. Despite having worked the day shift a while now, he’d never been there after hours. The live music was a woman and her acoustic guitar, singing cover songs that were better than the originals. Patrons sat around the tables laughing, enjoying the low-lit atmosphere while waiters and waitresses served beer and wine. Matt wasn’t even sure this was the same place he’d worked just a few short hours ago. It was so different. Matt picked a small table while Seamus went

  2. Opening the door to his cramped apartment, Kaplan let out a groan that could wake the neighbors. He flung his briefcase onto his futon and took off for the bedroom. Fuck that guy! Wagner is a real piece of work! He had the audacity to start that in front of the courthouse with people all around us. Removing his tie, he tossed it to the side and sat down on his twin-sized bed. Leaning back, his neck touched the edge of the mattress, leaving his head to fall backward. Kaplan moved his arms up and began unbuttoning his checkered dress shirt while peeling off his shoes at the same time. Shou

  3. - + What You Leave Behind Chapter 3 By Dabeagle email “I got us each a burrito and then a quesadilla to split,” he said with a grin of hungry anticipation. I handed him a ten for mine and we tucked into some awfully damn good burritos. “So. Does this thing that happened with Benji have you questioning yourself at all? I don't think I asked that,” Luca said, then took a healthy bite. I worked a piece of tortilla off a tooth where it had become stuck. “I don't know,” I said with a sigh. “I mean...sure, some guys look good. But

The tension that hung in the air when he was there vanished the moment he walked out of the door, and even Sue’s surprise statement about Stephanie failed to dent my optimism. I was able to get a worm’s eye view of my sister’s friend as she watched me pick up the pieces of Don’s broken mug, and she didn’t look any different. But even if Sue was right, and Stephanie was up the duff, I was pretty confident it had nothing to do with me. She was a popular girl with a lot of male friends co

  5. After 4 weeks, Brad told me he had received 4 scholarship offers. I still hadn’t received any, and I was beginning to worry. Mom told me not to worry, “I had a dream, and there will be a letter arriving next week.” Sometimes Mom is a bit scary when she has these dreams. She said it’s the gypsy blood in her. To my knowledge, there are no gypsy ancestors. Two days after this premonition of Mom, Brad said he got a fifth scholarship offer and would probably take it. He wouldn’t tell me which University. He said he’ll show me the letter on Sunday. Two days later, when I got home from the cabin

  6. Tyler didn’t know whether to punch Zeke in the face or throw himself into his arms with relief when he walks in the door. It’d been almost 2 days. He had thought he would be a few hours and dropped off the face of the Earth for almost 2 days! “Where the hell have you been?” Tyler shouts, apparently going for an enraged response. Zeke looked exhausted, walking straight through to the bathroom while Tyler followed close behind. “I have been so worried. And Corey couldn’t tell me anything, because he says he doesn’t know shit when it comes to mission stuff. I’ve had G try to visit twic

  7. The movie wasn’t that great, but in truth, I only saw about half of it. I ended up sitting on Brad’s lap, feeding him popcorn between kisses. When he was into watching the movie, I put one of the biscotti to his lip. His tongue licked his lip, and then he realized what I had done. “Do you have those cookies with you?” “Yes, and they are called biscotti. But you need to kiss me to get one.” Yes, he did indeed kissed me. “You keep giving me kisses like that tonight, and you’ll get the whole bag.” “You have more?” I just laughed as I handed him the bag. I drove us to his home,

  8. There were lots of groups all over the house, in the pool and in the pool house. Randy, Stevie, Skyler, Mikie and Phillip ended up in their boxers playing Stevie’s card game in Phillip’s bedroom. Britt and Tanner had brought the game twister with the suggestion that it be played in the skimpiest attire available. That was swimming attire for most of the swimmers and boxers for others. James, Marcus, Luke, Jon-Jon, Ryan, Adam, Patrick and Bryan seemed to be having fun with that. Someone had brought the Hobbit trilogy on DVD and the balance of the group had settled in to watch. JASON “I need to head back to the shop and help Damian,” Jordan said as they approached the apartment. “Dylan, I think there are a few sandwiches left from Ordya if you want a snack.” “Didn’t Etul take those with him?” Dylan asked. “Not all of them,” Jordan frowned. “If there aren’t any, we should still have a few biscuits, but they might be stale.” “I can probably throw something together. You two up for a bit of cooking?” Dylan asked, glancing at Jason and Devyn. Jason nodded, always up for a new experience. “Sander should be home any minute,” Jordan adde

  10. Oh thank god!!! Matt is the most oblivious character that I have ever liked. I hope he gains self-confidence, or this will be a very unbalanced relationship. I have to remind myself that he is still only 21.

  11. Awesome chapter. Eventually Seamus tells Matt he wants him. They shared there first kiss. After there round of 20 questions you can see why it took Matt so long to realise that Seamus wanted him as a boyfriend.

  12. It turns out Dale was right. I had just calmed down when I heard a knock on the door. After looking up and seeing who it was, I would have been out of that bed in a flash if I had the strength. Framed in the doorway was the last person I expected to see. Fresh new tears clouded my vision as I held up my arms to embrace my best friend. I never expected him of all people to be here for me in person, as he went to school so far away. “What are you doing here?” I ask Evan while clinging onto him as if my life depended on it. “I had to come when I was told you had supposedly dropped out.

  13. “Well don’t you look like shit.” Damien’s voice comes as a welcome distraction to Jasper who sighs in relief to finally see someone show him absolutely no pity. “Good to see you earning money with your clothes on.” Jasper comments. Damien flashes him an impressed grin at the passive aggressive insult. “Is it too early to do shots?” Jasper asks as he sits down at the mostly empty bar. “Ethically yes, but as long as you pay me I will pour them.” Damien shrugs and gets out a shot glass, placing it on the bench and waiting for Jasper to tell him what he wanted. “What

  14. I had to jump right making my comment before reading the others...J H Christ on a frigging Christmas cracker, Matt's obtuse thickness was soooo thick, it was like he had the the density of a gigantic, no humongous gravity sucking vortex of a black hole! And for that matter, Seamus, for all his smarts, charm, and savoir faire...was almost a match in the density department, but not for a lack of trying...now...how bout those steaks???

  15. The "duh" moment. Seamus should have realized Matt needed direct language long before as he did not pick up on the hints. Matt perhaps was too close to the situation to see it for what it was ... they finally stopped "shoulding" on themselves and we now have a whole new situation! Love it!

  16. I don't know what you mean when you say "you could end it right here?" That sounds terrible. There's so much growth left. We don't even really know Seamus! Tell us more about Kelly. Or Matt. How does Matt grow as a parent? They haven't even consumated their relationship. Who causes the conflict? Climax? Resolution? End now? Blasphemy.

  17. Oh my god I was going to scream if Seamus didn't go after Matt. I don't entirely blame Matt, he didn't have the objectivity that his friends did. When Seamus was like, I've been flirting for months, all of us could clearly see that, but Matt didn't get it. He's living with the guy and didn't get it. I kept saying, Seamus you're gonna have to be more direct, and say what you want instead of planning a date and not saying it's a date. Thankfully Seamus did show up at the club. Hopefully this will teach Matt a bit of a lesson for the future, especially for understanding Seamus.

  18. DEVYN The thumps echoed through his head, rank fear pouring through his nose. Devyn raced out of his room, his ears low, his entire body ready for a fight. There was so much blood in the air, Jason’s scent mixing with the metallic tang, and Devyn’s heart plummeted faster than he could leap down the stairs. Letting out a loud whimper, the wolf barked frantically, crouching over his brother. His tongue licked at the neko’s mouth, trying to clean the gash in Jason’s lip. “Fuck! Jason!” Richard was kneeling beside them a moment later, his hands pulling at Devyn. “De

  20. James: James glanced at his blank phone screen for the fourth time in as many minutes, before once more trying to return his eyes to the television. His grandmother’s arrival had, as always, brought with it a new box of Japanese media for him to consume, and he was trying as hard as he could to enjoy it. No matter how hard he tried, however, he couldn’t shake that last nagging bit of doubt out of his head. It was irritating, really. The birds were no longer really much of a worry for him; he was pretty sure he’d been overreacting earlier, and, for whatever reason, he couldn’t really

He was hurting quite a bit last night so Hospice gave him what M called "a very tiny amount" of morphine just to knock the edge off the pain. Before he left they said his vital signs were really good. He hadn't been sleeping that well. The morphine allowed him to relax enough to go into a deep sleep and...just didn't wake up. Much worse ways to go (like watching mom linger for four days), and he had a long lif

We were at a CIA safe house in rural Virginia, actually sitting in the house's dining room around a regular table. Four of them were in uniform: three two-star generals and a two-star Admiral representing each branch of the military. Another man wearing a suit was an Assistant Secretary of Defense while the last man was William Blakely, a senior CIA manager. We'd arrived here yesterday after a military flight across country. Probably more so now that I have Aidan.” He’s already made up his mind. Wonder if this will be a problem for Matt, who likes to be in control.

  30. New Year's Eve Part Four In spite of the not having the sweet ice tea, Carmine’s was nice! Heather’s ex-cousin-in-law didn’t just stash us away and forget about us. Again, this was a busy time for the city. Did we deserve special treatment? Some thought yes. We were people who did things so well, we brought attention to ourselves. That was partially true. Heather, Tom and I told stories. We did it so well, that people wanted to hear more. I did it to music and actions that people liked to see telling a story my way. Tom and Heather told stories that were done playing

  31. Casper: In the back of his mind, hidden somewhere deep, Casper could have sworn he could hear a part of himself screaming as his new protector turned towards his former foe. He couldn’t think why, though. What possible reason could he have for panic when this new man was around? What could possibly be wrong when he was able to be this happy? Perhaps it was just the last traces of fear from before the man had come for him. Yes, that was probably it. After all, he could still feel the newcomer within his power, and he was still perfectly calm, so there couldn’t really be a reason to scream,

Hopefully he may find ways to help Devyn function better within his human form. He truly seems like a great guy with his concern for the impact on Jason’s quality of life. Now as he observes the boys hopefully he can see that same impact for our favorite misfit. 😝

  46. Happy Sunday, everyone! Today is the shortest day of the year here in Ireland. That's because at 2:00am this morning the clocks were moved forward an hour for the start of Summer Time. So today is only 23 hours long. It's often called British Summer Time, but here in Ireland we usually drop the "British" part for some reason and just call it Summer Time. In fact a good number of Irish people refer to it as New Time - a hang over from when it was first introduced back in 1916. I've not changed my wall clock yet, or the clock in my car, but of course my electronic equipment (s

Traditionally since I was a small child mum would host both sets of my grandparents and another couple they knew for dinner on Palm Sunday. However, all of the attendees this year, with me as the exception, have been vaccinated and can safely gather. We are serving fresh spinach salad, jaeger-style roa
