This week's Anthology Flashback brings back to the Summer of 2007 and for Endings and Beginnings.

As always, we thank all these authors once again for participating so long ago.  If it is not too much trouble, would you be willing to write a review for these authors?  Even if some of them are no longer around, I'm sure other readers will appreciate the effort.  The authors that are still with us surely will.

Writing Clubs - Places to Make Yourself a Better Writer
I just wanted to remind everyone that if you are an author or Poet here on the site, we have a club for you!   Authors are encouraged to join up and participate with your fellow authors.  We have been having some ongoing discussions about writing and how we each do our thing.  You should definitely join up if you are writing and want to chat about the technicalities of writing with your fellow authors.

Show, Don't Tell
It's been said many times before. It's practically one of the first basics that every writer learns, that every mentor teaches, and that every critic jumps on. That is the idea of 'show, don't tell'. And yet, while many people may hear that, to some it's a bit unclear as to what that really means, or how to achieve that particular goal. Hopefully, this would give you a slightly better perspective on what appears to be a very simple task on the surface, but actually takes a little practice and finesse to pull off correctly.

There seems to be an unwritten rule out there for websites and publications everywhere that the last week of the year is the time to do a year in review wrap-up sort of post.  This is the one for Gay Authors.
2017.  What a year!  This was the year we jumped 50 versions of software to finally break free of the 3.4 version of the forum software and break into the world of 4.1 and then 4.2 versions of the software.  We've had hundreds of Stories archive software updates in the same timeframe as we've worked through all the bugs from going through a complete software rewrite and carrying a ton of existing data along.  The good news?  The biggest part is behind us for now.  It took considerably longer than we wanted to get where we are, but the system is mostly working as intended.  There are some outstanding notification bugs and quirky language that will be the target of a patch sometime soon.   The important thing here is that we made it!  We had a much smoother transition this time around.

Tech Tuesday - Chapter Text Controls
One of the most important aspects to our Stories software is allowing members to make the reading window fit their need for reading.  Whether that is to adjust the text size, the contrast, the indents or the width of the text window.

Welcome to the Quickstart Story Posting Guide for Gay Authors.  It is important that you spend the time to read this and the included links.  Since Gay Authors allows authors to directly post their stories on our site, we necessarily have a more complex system then sites that just accept submissions via email.  This guide was written to help speed you through our process.

Wow, another week in the bag! I know a lot of our American friends are busy getting ready for US Thanksgiving this coming week, but lets take a look back at the GA News Blog for the past week and see if there is something that you are thankful for early .

On Monday, Renee brought us a review by @Puppilull for the Feature Story this week; Personal Banking by @Refugium.  Good comments and feedback to entice you to take on another story to read.

Renee is off, so I will be helping out for the next few Weekly updates. Before I start, if I make any mistakes, blame @Valkyrie . Actually, no, we need to thank Val for stepping in and helping out in a pinch for anything to do with the Anthologies. As per this announcement, please send all anthology proof requests to her. Thanks Cat, er Penguin, er Val

For October, the Classic Author feature is another oldie but goodie, Working it Out by Don H. This story was actually what drew me to the site, and I have to echo a lot of Myr's sentiments on why he chose Don's story to feature! And if those endorsements aren't enough, check out some other reviews left by fans in the feature below. And don't forget to download the smaller graphic for your personal signature if you want to show your love of Don H's work!

Well all, I hope you've had a great weekend! Thought I'd take a quick second to tell y'all that I'll see ya in a week (or a little over a week) as this girl is heading out for GRL (GayRomLit) as a Supporting Author this week. I won't be on GA much, if at all, so if you message me I most likely won't answer right away, and it might have to wait until I get back. I hope you all have a wonderful upcoming week and I'll see ya when I get back. Wish me luck (I'll need it!)!!!!  While I'm gone, if you hold an Author title, take a second to go check out the first round of voting for next year's anthologies. You can find them here. Voting will end on October 25th, so make sure to get your vote in soon!!!  Also, don't forget the Halloween Contest has gone live, so make sure you go read all 11 entries and then send your vote to @Reader1810. Now, let's see what happened this week in the various GA blogs!
