  1. Finding Refuge

Thanks, Rolfe! I appreciate the kind words. I love this story too, and am always thankful when someone new reads it, and even more so when someone rereads it. As a matter of fact, I am posting a new western story right now called "Sidewinder." I still have Wiley and Cooper in my head, though, and one day hope to continue their story. You could help me get new readers for Finding Refuge by leaving a review in the review section... that usually brings an influx of new readers. Cheers... Gary.

P.S. I hope you check out my new story and let me know what you think. :)

  2. Sidewinder

Thanks, starboardtack! It's nice to have another Western fan. Finding Refuge was one of my favorite stories to write, and I always wanted to write another Western... this was my therapy for dealing with pandemic isolation.   Thanks for the encouragement!

I, for one, keep searching for stories set in the West and am so pleased you have written another story in this genre. Not only do I enjoy the genre but I enjoy your writing as well. Keep 'em coming. And thanks.

Thanks, Ullyssess! I love to hear when people reread one of my stories. It means a lot that it stuck with you all this time. I believe this is the story where my writing skills took a leap forward. Cheers!

I had read this story a few years ago and I loved it. However, the story stuck, every now and then I thought back to it without remembering many details. I'm glad to have read it again! Despite the fierce beginnings, it's a real feel good story.

Thanks, Gyrefalcon! I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed it. I do have a sequel planned, but I can't commit to when I'll find the time and motivation to write it. Cheers... Gary....   Any chance you could scroll up to the top of the story page and leave a story 'like?'

Great story! Are you planning on letting us know what happens with everyone in a sequel? Please? 😄

Thanks, Chris! I'm sure Craig and Jared have the house finished by now, and that it is a real home for them and Bailey.

What an AMAZING story! So enjoyed reading and feeling the emotions Jared and Craig were experiencing during it. Thank you so much for a real life, realistic, happy ever after love story! ❤️ Definitely a recommended read.

I love your descriptions of the wild west! I don't know much about the history of how the West was settled but what you wrote felt very real. All the details painted a vivid picture for me. Thank you!

Don't be sorry. I take it as a compliment. A lot of readers feel the same way, and I'm proud of the story, even with its loose ends. At 326,000 words, it is an accomplishment, and I do take some solace in leaving them is such a good place... getting Michael and Kendall (and Nate and Lily and Rose) into their dream home took a tremendous amount of work. That said, readers deserve for it to be wrapped up. So do I.

Sorry, please forgive me. It wasn’t my intention to guilt trip anyone (or was it?☺️) it just that sometimes I fell in love with some of the stories and I get like a dog with a bone!

I’m still not over the fact that Dom Luca  went awol and it’s been what...almost a decade now? So you see it’s hard for me to let go😔

I, as well as many, many others, are happy you're writing again. You have a brilliant imagination, and your well-written stories reflect that. But, yeah, I am guilty, and deserve a little bit of asskicking. It is what it is.

I know, and I do feel guilty, but at least I am writing again - which at some point last year didn't seem likely at all.

But I can still maintain Gary shouldn't feel terribly guilty over having just ONE Incomplete story, even if it is his main one.

You do have a point... guilt is a powerful weapon... bad, bad author, Gary.   Thanks, Cachondeo!

No, no, no...not over cuddling the author!! They gave us a lot of wonderful stories, yes! The shoulder surgery and physiotherapy are looming over the horizon, yes! (but seriously best wishes with that🤞🏻) but don’t tell them not to feel guilty, man! I’m counting on them feeling bad about that, guilt is a powerful tool!

I want to now the baby’s sex! It’s been so many months is gonna be an elephant...

If you spoil the author rot they will quit on us all together! A firm fan, I mean hand is what they need!

All jokes apart, get better, find the inspiration you need and resurrect  this wonderful story (a personal favourite), pbeeeeeaaaase!!!!😫🙏🏻

    Much love to you💋

Thanks, Tim.   No, that's true, and at the time I really did need to get some of those stories out of my head and on to paper/screen. And, the truth is, at one time I had intended to get them into their new house as the final act, and maybe that is the big reason there is a hurdle to get over now.

 But...but if you hadn't, we wouldn't have had Morningstar or Finding Refuge or all your other wonderful stories. Even though we miss the CotT story, the long hiatus didn't happen because you stopped writing altogether. Don't feel guilty, you'll get back to them sooner or later.

Sorry, Nahrung. All I can say is I know I've let readers down. I'm having surgery in June to reattach two tendons in my right shoulder, and I won't commit to anything, but I still plan to wrap this story up at some point. I never should have left to write anything else until CotT was finished, but it is a lesson well learned. Thanks for caring about this story... it still lives in my head somewhere.

This is one of those stories, beautifully written, that gives you something unexpected. I love the mystical aspects of some cultures, and the ones here are woven with great care, and are immensely captivating. A satisfying read I heartily recommend.

Sorry. I know it's frustrating, but I have had some setbacks, health issues, and now renovations... still, I have written a lot in that time span. Morningstar: The Malaise and Exes and Ohs for examples.   I have every intention of picking the story up again,  and I left them in a very good place in the meanwhile. Thanks for hanging in there... cheers... Gary...

Yup... you've caught and saved me a few times lol. You're the best, CG. You've been there from the beginning, and I've learned a lot from working with you. You put everything you have into your writing too, and your big heart shines through Jay and Miles like a beacon  Another Morningstar book? I can't even think about it until I'm done with this one... well... I do think about it, and scenes keep arriving, but I push them aside. I will devour anything you serve up as well, my dear friend... HUG

BME not only has pictures of people who have had their tongues bifurcated, but also men who have had bifurcation surgery on their genitalia. If you have enough money, you can pay for anything (and according to one website, nearly anyone). Try Craig’s List.
