  1. Me at 11 years old dusting my room: Hey mom, what kind of rag is this anyway? Mom: That was one of your diapers when you were a baby. Me: 😳 Yeah I feel you on the Nappies. I tend to think that some of the most special moments in a person's life start with some innocent, everyday event like running to the store for something. It helps to ground the story with some realism and helps the readers to easier identify with the characters. I'm glad you enjoyed the story and hope you like the others I'm working on.

Tanner is 8 in this story. I think..... 🤔

Or her father. Anything is possible. Though, we will never really know.

Between the two of them, I would say that it's Jacob who had taken David's more selfless caregiver identity to heart and is more able and willing to emulate it. Not to say that Kyle is less so, only that Jacob is probably more prone to act on it quicker than Kyle would.

I feel the same could be said about everyone, really. That we all carry some kind of burden deep down inside that we rarely put on display to everyone around us. Those awkward, hurtful, poinant moments in our pasts shape us into who we are over time. And much of Jacob's past wasn't the most ideal version of what growing up is supposed to be. I think that in his case, coming to live with Kyle and David showed him that there was a better life to be had. Not just in getting to share his love with Kyle but to build on that love and find his own self-worth beyond that love so that he has becom

I do not have plans for the children as far as their lives beyond the final story I have in my mind. But that is not to say that they will not be prominant figures in future stories. I try to not make the children perfect. Most of their "less than ideal" moments usually don't happen on the page but are more or less referred to in some way or another (apparantly, Aaron can be a screamer when he doesn't get his way.) I like to think that the children make the boys more interesting because of the changes they go through from raising children of their own. They are supposed to be as real as p

Thank you! I do my best to try to capture the obvious and subtle emotions and roll through a scene. I feel it brings a character to life more than anything else I can do.

Glad you liked it because it took me a dozen times to get it just right. While the stories typically play out like movies in my mind, it's not always easy to capture the essence of the moment and be able to fully express it in one try. Hope you enjoy the rest.

It just goes to show that no matter how much time passes, those regrets never completely go away. I think Jacob is in a much better place in his mind than he used to be. It only came to the forefront because he was able to compare his past with Tanner's.

While it may not have been a quality he would have thought of as a good one, no matter how old he got, how full his life became, or how large his family had grown over the years, Jacob still enjoyed the peaceful silence and solitude his workshop afforded him. Regardless of how many friends he had or his job as a parent and a husband kept him busy through most of his days, he always felt more refreshed after getting some time to himself when he had the chance. So, when he tells Kyle he is going to work in his shop, Kyle knows to give him some time alone. Working by himself was not an activit
  11. I have to admit, that is one of my favorite parts of writing this series. Watching them all grow and mature and how the moments in their lives shape them.

    Chapter 38

Good catch. I'll need to fix that.

    Chapter 38

Your English is fine. No problem there. However, I do feel you may be reading too much into things. Kyle and Tyler are not related in any biological sense. Yes, there are some subtle hints that there are things below the surface and I do those intentionally. David only had one biological son and that is Kyle. But David's love goes beyond what most people would define as "family." And he does not hide his affections for any of the other boys. Helen didn't have an affair. She dated Sam when they were all in high school many many years ago. She pretends to be a jilted ex but in

Thank you so much for that! I did a fair amount of research about the area while writing the first book. I looked at everything I could and did my best to remember my times traveling through Pennsylvania years and years ago. I like making realistic characters. I feel they can connect more to readers if they see something in themselves in who they're reading about and makes the story more enjoyable to tell and to read.
