"Tragic Genius" is the fourth and penultimate book in "The Trial", a series beginning with "Shadow Honor". In this book, we follow the early days of the Demon War, and focus on the stories of Neredos and Veil predominantly, but with many other familiar faces as well. What does it take to make a leader, and how do the horrors of war twist a person's mind? How do we fight for good, life, and peace in a world full of evil, death, and pain? This is the heart of what The Trial means.
Raven is a thief, probably the best one. He is hired by mysterious clients to obtain a rather peculiar object -- a dark-green, oval-shaped rock. He is tempted to accept the offer even though the rock belongs to one of the most influential, powerful, and cruel men in the world.
Timmy rides back to Nags Head with Pate after a real estate development meeting in Richmond. The two partnered in presenting the housing concepts to the audience and found that they had a natural chemistry. Timmy’s boss is adamant that his staff not socialize with clients, such as Pate, however fate has interceded and the fellows decide they must follow their hearts. They become the boys of summer but will it last into the fall when Timmy’s boss finds out about the relationship?
Events on a small New England college campus, following an exceptional one. Gil Andrus and his husband, Pete Sordan, follow through.
Chapters will be added Monday and Friday, and the book should finish towards the end of September.
Note: this book shares roots and occasionally overlaps with my other book, Quabbin, which is also set in Waldron, Massachusetts, though in a national clothing company. But they're different books. And Don Burris, from The Pendleton Omens, reappears.

The sleepy village of Crumbington is about to get a wake-up call.
When the new chairperson of the Summer Fête Committee pushes to create a naked calendar of the Crumbington football team, mouths drop open. Her further pronouncement at having snagged a celebrity host for the fête—rising television and movie star Clifton O’Keefe, and ex-resident of Crumbington—is met with indifference.
Not by Nathan Fresher, though, local baker and captain of the football team. He had been Clifton’s boyfriend in high school, until Clifton and his family disappeared into the night over ten years ago.
Growing up in a small town, Tyler's life had always felt like one struggle after another. When he befriends a young father of two, he finds that he may not be the only one who feels lost and alone. With a little hope and good friends, maybe they can find their way again.
