Cameron MacKenzie and Kevin Stolz had been best friends and almost brothers their entire life. When a series of bad things happens to their families, the boys find themselves getting closer than they ever considered before.

Paternity is the twelfth story in the CAP Saga. The story takes place in 2000, with Wade Danfield and Will Schluter as our primary narrators. Many of the characters in this story were introduced in “Chronicles of an Academic Predator,” “1968,” “The Land Whore,” “Be Rad,” “Man in Motion,” “A Summer Love,” “If It Fits,” “Bloodlines,” “The Box,” "Millennium," and "Poor Man's Son."

It is January 2004 and the United States and its “allies” have just completed the successful invasion of Iraq and Saddam Hussein has been captured. US Presidential Elections are on the horizon. Howard Dean is the frontrunner to be the Democratic candidate to take on George W. Bush.

These events weigh lightly on the mind of Will Schluter. He just graduated from high school a semester early and is looking forward to spending the next eight months in the pursuit of hedonistic pleasure and mind broadening experiences.

Neither Will nor his country had any idea about the challenges that lurked ahead.

It started off as a simple, innocent friendship between two college students brought together by an English project. Noah is shy, quiet and nerdy, while Jordan is the exact opposite, athletic, social and outgoing. A series of events, a break up, an unexpected injury, bring the two closer together. "Man in Motion," follows Be Rad and begins in 1985. To most Americans, 1985 was about the second Reagan term and the economic boom that was following the stagnant 70's. The culture was wrapped up in materialism, so it's no wonder that Madonna's "Material Girl" was popular then. Then there is this parallel culture, the gay culture, reeling from the onslaught of AIDS.

The Funny Thing Is, things always change when you get older. Cooper, Kyle, Spencer, and Sebastian are all older, but barely any wiser. When a blast from Cooper's past returns to threaten his status quo, how will react? How will he balance the quest for true love with his new status as a family man.
