One Hundred and Fifty-Five Sonnets - 5. romanza

.

Sonnet No. 9

I close my eyes, and feel you on my skin –

You lie me on my back before the sofa,

Then, tenderly, with your hands you begin

To lift my legs on the seat, and tell me: "Ah."

You will take the clue; you will be in charge,

For I will be the clay that you will mould,

And press, and work, and your hands will enlarge

A new heart for me to replace the old.

Back on the floor – feeling you and your touch –

Your love is a moving experience

That rocks me to my core, and means so much,

My eyes close from being delirious.

Love in perfect balance can quickly cede,

And let the other roughly take the lead.

Sonnet No. 10

Without trying, you become my stanza –

My rhythm, my rhyme, my metre beating;

The wanderlust of our two hearts' meeting;

Like the calm strain of an Italian romanza.

Yet, why indulge me in this extravaganza –

My heartache, my pain, my sorrow fleeting,

When all should be light and my joy heating,

Like the burning comfort feel of silk organza.

But music of the mind and heart are one,

As the brain gives up to let love win –

For these resting beats not to be outdone,

They must start again right where they begin,

Yet, without you, my heart and mind find none –

While with you, my soul finds its fun within.

Number 9 had me shifting in my seat - so deliciously hot. Number 10 made me pay more attention to the rhyme - and what lovely rhymes you made. Both are feasts for the senses.

Thank you, Parker, for a considerate review. It's nice to know No. 9 is 'working' the way it's intended. You're too kind in regards to No. 10, but I will take your praise greedily :)

Thanks again.

I feel like I repeat myself, but I can't help it..

You take simple words and connect them to convey beautiful intimacy and passion. It was touching and intense.

I agree with Parker for no. 10, I heard the music in your rhyme - so sublime.. Lol.

Loved them both AC!

Thank you, Defiance19! You may repeat yourself as much as you like (...long as it's good stuff, hehe). Many of the early sonnets in this collection seek out that intimate space via words, so it's wonderful to hear they are reaching their goals.

Thanks again!

10: Without trying, you become my stanza

My rhythm, my rhyme, my metre beating;

This sounds like you're in love but it's moving from new to a new place of deeper meaning and importance..

9: You describe a beautiful afternoon with your lover. You've given yourself to him, trusting him completely and he moves and fulfils you beyond hopes and dreams.

Thank you, Tim! I like your summary of the two poems, and I cannot disagree in the slightest ;)

Thanks for all of your support. I appreciate it a great deal!

No. 9.

I almost feel like a fly on the wall, so vividly painted is this sensual poem. The beauty of an intimate moment.

No.10.

Da capo al fine. A very musical poem, both in content as in flow. Con spirito.

Thank you again, Peter! Music and private moments – beautiful review. Every tenth Sonnet in this collection is in the Italian form, and for this first one, I feel a little self-conscious; later ones are far superior, I feel. But I gladly accept the praise, and most people have commented favorable on No. 10, so I am content.

Cheers!

No.9...it was an intimate n sensual evening with ur beloved! So well written..

No.10 it was like a melody of love. The line:

But music of the mind and heart are one,

As the brain gives up to let love win –

Had such a strong feel like finally losing in hands of love (felt so) :):)

Thank you, Aviana! In this series, every 10th poem is an Italian-style Sonnet (as opposed to the other English-style ones). I found No. 10 difficult to write, but you have such lovely things to share about it. i appreciate your thoughts very much

Another review from Lyssa:

----------

No. 10 always makes me smile. The rhythm sets a fast pace for the reader and even there are some deeper tunes lying beneath the lighter ones hold the majority and love is the ruler.

So it holds a lot of joy in its lines. And that is as life should be, the joyful part should overpower the painful, even without them we won't be whole.

Thank you, Lyssa. If I'm honest, I am probably most self-conscience about No. 10 not being up to par. The Italian form is not one I go to automatically, and I think this poem is a working-piece (for practice) more than anything else. However, that readers connect with the message really warms my heart and gives me hope.

Thanks again for another wonderful set of comments. Muah
