Shakespearean Sonnets - 1. Shakespearean Sonnets
Carpe Diem
A Shakespearean Sonnet
All things must pass and time is a-flying
A tale of woe. Alas, how sad a fate!
Short is my life, and my love is dying
My life is withered; my laments too late
Thy beloved face I see and close my eyes
Gone are those happy days of fair a light
Thy love I lost due to mischievous lies
A storm is raging; it is forev'r night
All things must pass and time is a-flying
Thy sweet face’s but my saddened mind’s display
Night’s upon my soul; my heart is crying
Too late, alas, I failed to seize the day
This is my tale. Do not bewail my lot
Cherish thy life and the good things you got

Bona Fide
A Shakespearean Sonnet
Those were the days of love and happiness
Of pleasure, joyous mirth and bright delight
The sun a light so fair, pure tenderness
The peaceful night a shelter, good and right
Thy love so dear, thy kiss a silken touch
Thy heart so meek; soft and sweetest treasure
My dear, thy precious words, they promised much
Promised love and zest and playful pleasure
My lady, in good faith, I kissed thy lips
In thy embrace I lay; in lulling peace
A bed of roses; away all reason slips
Alas, when morning breaks, you take your leave
Those were the days of foolish love and lust
Gone, alas. Ash to ash and dust to dust

Ad Finem
A Shakespearean Sonnet
Never have I thought of a thing like this
What a fool I am, what a fool I was
Your company I truly will not miss
You cheated on me and betrayed our cause
I am innocent and simple-hearted
Your mean and wicked plan I did not see
It was clever and, alas, well crafted
You showed your true face finally to me
However, thinking now a second time
I had suspicions the first day we met
You are up to betray and drop a dime
Strangely, and honestly, I’m not upset
So I shall better trust my inward voice
It says: game over, make a better choice
