Audre Lorde Knows What I Mean – 2021 in review - 12. The First Post-Roe Independence Day

.

The First Post-Roe Independence Day

Women, this day of all days, decide to place

Facebook messages to celebrate 'Freedom,'

When an Activist Court just spat in their face

And blew Rights of Privacy to kingdom come.

So this Fourth of July, Twenty Twenty-Two,

Is not the time to hoist Liberty's cliché,

Thinking healthcare's access will not affect you,

When it shall, along with all you have to say.

Raise Oppression's banner, media people:

Ape the talking-points that poison like sarin,

Praise the bloody Gop's treason from every steeple

Gaslighting us to death, not letting the air in.

Republican women -- you've killed your kids

And blindly thrown this country on the skids.
