We have a dystopia and brutal future where all the once world powers are in a long forgotten past. The Shifts are evolved humans which have a gland which give them incredible powers. The problem comes when humans realize this power can be stolen. You only have to kill a shift. It brings a moral dilemma. What are you willing to do for power?

The story has some vivid and memorable characters. It's an enjoyable read, but not for the faint of heart.
