The Kiss of the Vampire - 20. Chapter 20

Kiss of the Vampire

Memories

Vladimir and Constantine decided to take a break and immerse themselves in the beauty of Jardin du Luxembourg. The night was serene, with the moon casting its silvery glow over the park, illuminating the paths and giving the statues an ethereal quality. The cool night air carried the subtle fragrance of nocturnal blooms, adding a touch of enchantment to their surroundings. Constantine told Vladimir “It is hard to break this old habits now that we are now day walkers.” Vladimir nodded in agreement.

“The night still seems so friendly. And I am sure it is the best time to feed human cannot see that well in the dark.” Constantine smiled.

As they strolled, their footsteps echoed softly in the stillness. They passed by the Medici Fountain, its waters shimmering under the moonlight and creating a soothing, melodic sound. The statues, bathed in moonlight, stood as silent sentinels, their marble forms looking almost ghostly in the dark.

The two vampires found solace in the tranquility of the gardens. They paused by the grand palace, its majestic presence even more pronounced under the night sky. The palace's ornate facade and intricate architecture seemed to glow with a timeless elegance.

In the distance, the occasional rustle of leaves and the faint sounds of night creatures added to the ambiance. Vladimir and Constantine exchanged stories of their nocturnal adventures, their voices blending with the night sounds.

The walk-through Jardin du Luxembourg was a moment of peace, a rare respite from their tumultuous lives. The beauty of the park offered them a glimpse of the world they fought to protect, reminding them of the delicate balance they sought to maintain.

It was a perfect night, where even the shadows seemed lighter, and the weight of their burdens eased, if only for a little while.

They found a secluded bench beneath a majestic chestnut tree, the branches casting intricate shadows in the moonlight. The night was quiet, save for the occasional rustle of leaves and distant hoot of an owl. They sat down, easing into the comfort of each other's company.

Vladimir began, his voice soft and reminiscent. "Do you remember the first time we met, Constantine? It was in that old, crumbling castle on the outskirts of Transylvania. The air was thick with the scent of damp stone and ancient history."

Constantine, an ancient vampire whose origins were shrouded in mystery, chuckled, a low, melodic sound. "How could I forget? You were this mysterious figure, lurking in the shadows, watching me. I thought you were going to try and kill me."

Vladimir smiled, a hint of nostalgia in his eyes. "I almost did. But something about you intrigued me. You were different from the others—fearless, determined. I saw a reflection of myself in you."

They shared a moment of silence, both lost in their memories. The park around them seemed to fade away as they delved deeper into their shared past.

Constantine leaned back, looking up at the night sky. "Remember when we joined forces to take down the Brotherhood of the Blade? That was a night to remember. The adrenaline, the chaos... but we had each other's backs."

Vladimir nodded; his gaze distant. "We've faced so many challenges together. Each battle, each victory, and each loss has brought us closer. We've become more than allies—we're brothers."

The bond between them was undeniable, forged through countless trials and tribulations. Their conversations flowed effortlessly, weaving tales of bravery, sacrifice, and the unbreakable bond they had formed.

As they continued to reminisce, the moon climbed higher in the sky, casting a serene glow over the park. They spoke of the lessons learned, the mistakes made, and the unwavering trust they had in one another.

In that moment, on that bench in Jardin du Luxembourg, they found solace in their shared history. Their past was a tapestry of intertwined fates, each thread representing a memory, a choice, a moment that had shaped them.

It was a beautiful night, where their hearts felt lighter, and the weight of their burdens eased, if only for a little while. They cherished the peace they found in each other's presence, knowing that whatever the future held, they would face it together.

Constantine continued the dialogue, his voice filled with warmth. "And we have been so blessed with the wonderful, sweet vampires who are like our children. I just love them so much. I would give my life to protect them."

Vladimir agreed, nodding thoughtfully. "Indeed, Constantine. Our children have brought so much joy and purpose into our lives."

He then began to recount the tale of how Thomas had come into his life. Vladimir's eyes took on a faraway look as he delved into the memories. "It was at Castle Petrov, a place steeped in history and mystery. The ancient stone walls held the whispers of countless generations. It was there that I first encountered Thomas."

Vladimir continued, his voice growing softer as he remembered. "The dark gods had blessed me with dreams, visions that guided me to him. They showed me a young boy with a pure heart, one destined to walk our path. I knew then that I had to find him, to bring him into our family."

He paused, allowing the memories to wash over him. "When I approached Thomas in the shadowy halls of Castle Petrov, he was friendly, and there was a flicker of hope in his eyes. I charmed him because I could not take a chance it would go wrong! From that night on, he became a part of our family."

Constantine listened intently, his eyes reflecting the moonlight as Vladimir continued. "Thomas was different from the start. He had an innate strength and wisdom that belied his age. Under our guidance, he grew into a formidable vampire, a beacon of hope in our dark world. The dreams the dark gods had sent me were not just about finding him, but about nurturing his potential, guiding him to greatness."

Vladimir's voice was filled with pride as he spoke of Thomas. "He has faced many challenges, but he has always emerged stronger. He embodies the very essence of our family—resilience, strength, and a sense of purpose. The dark gods' blessings have truly been a gift, not just for us, but for Thomas as well."

Constantine nodded, his heart swelling with pride and love for their adopted children. "They are our legacy, Vladimir. Through them, we find purpose and strength. We are not alone in this endless night."

“Then when I found Alexie my perfect and wonderful mate. He fulfilled many of my needs and wants.” Constantine happiness shows on his face. “I would do anything for him! I remember it also clearly that perfect night that I found him.”

The moon hung low in the sky, casting an ethereal glow that bathed the small village in silvery light. Shadows danced along the cobblestone streets, and the night was filled with a tranquil stillness, broken only by the soft rustle of leaves. Constantine, driven by an irresistible pull, found himself drawn to a small hut with an open window.

With silent grace, Constantine approached the hut and, with a fluid motion, climbed in through the open window. As he landed softly inside, he was bathed in the pale glow of the moonlight that streamed through the window, illuminating the interior, and casting long shadows on the walls.

It was then that he saw Alexei, lying peacefully asleep on a small bed. The moonlight caressed Alexei's face, highlighting his striking features with an otherworldly beauty. In that moment, Constantine felt a powerful surge of emotion—a feeling he had not experienced in centuries. He knew he must have him.

Kneeling beside the bed, Constantine gazed down at Alexei, his heart pounding in his chest. As if sensing his presence, Alexei slowly awoke, his eyes fluttering open. Constantine spoke softly; his voice filled with a tender affection. "Go back to sleep, my love," he whispered, his words laced with a charm that lulled Alexei back into a gentle slumber.

With a tenderness he had not felt in a long, long time, Constantine leaned in closer and bit Alexei gently. The act, once a means of survival, now felt like a profound connection. He drank the thick, delicious blood, savoring its taste, which was wonderful beyond words. Once he had his fill, he carefully licked the wound, ensuring it would heal quickly, leaving no trace of the encounter.

The night deepened as Constantine remained by Alexei's side, lost in thought. He mused to himself, "He sure took to the blood quite easily," recognizing the depth of their connection. This was more than a metaphor—it was a recognition of their shared destiny.

With dawn still far away, Constantine decided to stay in the hut, allowing the magic of the night to weave its spell. The bond he felt with Alexei grew stronger with each passing moment, and he knew he had found something timeless.

As the stars continued to twinkle overhead, Constantine and Alexei's connection deepened, creating memories that would last an eternity. In the heart of the night, surrounded by the timeless beauty of the moonlight, they found something enduring—a love that would outlast the break of dawn.

The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silvery glow over the tranquil park. Shadows danced among the ancient trees, and the night was filled with a serene stillness, broken only by the soft rustle of leaves. Constantine and Vladimir sat together on an old wooden bench, the cool night air enveloping them.

The bench was situated in a secluded corner of the park, where the moonlight filtered through the branches, creating a peaceful ambiance. They had come here seeking solace and a moment of quiet reflection.

Constantine turned to Vladimir, his eyes reflecting the moonlight. "That was the luckiest day in my long life," he said softly, a nostalgic smile playing on his lips. "I found Alexei, and from that moment, everything changed."

Vladimir leaned in, intrigued by the emotion in Constantine's voice. "Tell me more," he encouraged.

Constantine's smile grew softer. "Alexei became my world, my everything. I love him, and he adores me, much like your Thomas does you."

The two vampires sat in comfortable silence, the moonlight casting a gentle glow over them. The bond they shared with their loved ones was a testament to the enduring power of love, a connection that would last through the ages.

"And remember that night I found Étienne in that alley. He was surely going to die, and that night I made him, and he joined us with love. He does bring a lot of happiness to the family." Constantine's voice was filled with a tender nostalgia as he recounted the events of that fateful night.

Constantine had been nearby when he heard the faint, desperate sounds of someone in need. Driven by an innate compassion, he had followed the sound and found Étienne, lying on the cold, hard ground, barely clinging to life. His clothes were torn, and his body bore the marks of a fierce struggle. Without hesitation, Constantine gently lifted Étienne and carried him home, his heart heavy with concern for the young man's life.

Once they arrived at Constantine's home, he carefully laid Étienne on a comfortable sofa and began the ancient ritual that would save his life. The transformation was almost magical, as Étienne's eyes fluttered open, filled with confusion and relief. From that moment on, Étienne had become a beloved member of their family, bringing joy and light into their lives. His laughter echoed through their home, a testament to the new life he had been given.

Vladimir kissed Constantine on the cheek, "You have always had a large heart, my dear Constantine, which is one reason I have always loved you." The warmth and sincerity in Vladimir's voice were unmistakable, and Constantine couldn't help but smile in response.

Their family had grown over the years, each new member adding to the richness and diversity of their lives. Remy had joined the family, bringing his own unique qualities and strengths. He quickly became an integral part of their lives, his presence adding to the joy and harmony they shared.

"And lastly Remy and Robert—it is surprising how large our family has grown for the better!" Constantine's eyes sparkled with pride as he spoke of the two newest additions to their family. Robert had been found on the front porch of their house, an unexpected and serendipitous discovery. He was welcomed with open arms and soon became a cherished member of their family.

Each member brought their own unique qualities and strengths, creating a tapestry of experiences and memories that bound them together. The bonds of love and unity that held their family together were unbreakable, and they faced every challenge with unwavering support for one another.

The tale of their family was one of resilience, compassion, and the transformative power of love. Together, they continued to build a life filled with happiness and shared memories, always cherishing the night Étienne was found and the love that brought them all together. And so, their story lived on, a testament to the enduring strength of family and the boundless capacity of the human heart.

Constantine turned to Vladimir, a nostalgic smile playing on his lips. "Remember when we took the young ones to the opera and how they loved it?" he said, his voice filled with fond memories.

Vladimir chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "How could I forget? They were so mesmerized by the performance, especially when the soprano hit those high notes. It was as if they were transported to another world."

Constantine nodded, his expression softening. "Yes, I can still see the wonder in their eyes. It was a night of magic and enchantment, a rare moment of pure joy for all of us. The music, the ambiance, it was all so captivating."

Vladimir leaned back; his gaze fixed on the moonlit sky. "Those moments remind us of the beauty and richness of life, don't they? It's not just about survival but about experiencing the world and sharing those experiences with the ones we care about."

Constantine sighed contentedly. "Indeed. And it is moments like those that make our long lives worth living. To see the joy in their faces, to share in their excitement—that's what truly matters."

Constantine looked deeply into Vladimirs eyes “In the shadows of eternity, where the sun’s embrace is but a distant memory, we dance with the night, for the night is ours.”

The two vampires sat in comfortable silence, the moonlight casting a gentle glow over them. The bond they shared with the young ones and their cherished memories of the opera were a testament to the enduring power of love and connection, something that would last through the ages.

They walk hand in hand on the way back to the Chateau!

Thanks for taking us on this surprisingly sweet and tender journey, an unusual thing for a vampire story. This is really a story about loneliness and finding family as much as it is about a race who is violent by nature. Great job, Albert. Cheers!

Ture that Gary I want to do something different which isn't an easy thing when writing about Vampires! They do tend to solve problems with violent means. But these guys value holding on to their humanity in their eyes they are just different! Thanks again!
