Dejection and Hope

   (3 reviews)
Sub-genres: Drama, General Romance

All Seth wanted was ramen. A small, androgynous, blond was not on his shopping list. Nor was an outspoken new friend and therapy. He’d obviously turned down a wrong aisle somewhere.

Noah has a great best friend, a great job, an okay car, and an awesome apartment. Things are great. Except he’s watching his life from inside the closet. Also, he has…eclectic tastes. Most of which involve lace and silk. He didn’t mean to take “niche” and run with it.

Will the closet door open? Will everyone accept Noah? Most importantly, will Seth get his ramen?

Eventually there will be mature content. Story will deal with themes such as abuse, anxiety and depression. Also people who are genetic males wearing traditionally feminine clothing and a dusting of *different* explicit content. I hesitate to call it BDSM

Full disclosure: I am writing this review after reading 36 of the 37 chapters that make up this story. In other words, all but the final - special episode - chapter (sue me, I'm just not ready to say goodbye yet) so if that one sinks the ship, no it didn't.

According to Wikipedia, "the demiurge is an artisan-like figure responsible for fashioning and maintaining the universe" - a creator (of sorts), if you will.

Which, in the case of the writer of this extraordinary tale, yup, dude is definitely that...

And the tale in question is, without a doubt, nothing less than an entire pocket universe fashioned carefully from the bones & flesh of worlds long past their prime, very lovingly maintained through the writer-creator's own will, blood, sweat and tears.

Blood, sweat and tears, being very operative words.

See, this story is really heavy in places - very well signposted though, so don't fret too much. If you read it, you will cry.
But you'll also laugh and, if you're anything like me, wish you could reach through the screen to smack people.
What you won't do however, is walk away untouched. Or with your heart in any way still intact.

You have been warned.

Anyway. In addition to a well thought out, elegantly executed, delightfully immersive plotline and character set, readers will - slowly but surely and, again if you're anything like me, somewhat against your will - be very thoroughly educated in the ways of fashion and home decor.
And learn how to halt a panic attack in its tracks.
Not to mention, if you happen to pay attention, how doors work.
Also, correct positioning of a teabag within a mug so as not to have to repeatedly fish said teabag out when it inevitably succumbs to the gravitational pull of the water it's immersed in.
If you're really on top of things, you may even pick up a few useful hairstyling tips. Unfortunately the demon child-raising guide is a bit lacking but eh, can't have everything now can we?

Read the story, yeah? It's good. Really really really good. Just watch out for the herrings, they're a bit... feisty.

When you have a background, you have to fight for your living while supporting your sister, and additionally you have to fight for your ghosts, add to that another guy with his own background and ghosts, and you have some mess.

With all the mental difficulties around I found the story a bit disturbing, a lot intriguing and to be another story I couldn't leave unread.

Thank you for writing
