Treading Water

   (7 reviews)

Craig and Jared, former brothers-in-law, have been tormented in different ways, and lines have been crossed. Can they now find a way to make sense out of a challenging family situation?

This story was originally intended to be part of an anthology, but it grew... and grew. Family dynamics can be quite complicated at times. This is an example of how certain acts can steamroll, and get out of control. I hope you enjoy this tale of love, and how hard it can be to kill it.

Wow, a new story! Like everybody said, intriguing situation, interesting characters, so much tension in the first chapter. I guess
there's more to Jared's condition than repressed sexuality and ugly divorce... Looking forward to the next chapter!

The woman scorned ... there is every indication that Carly is not pleasant to live with. Her mother doesn’t seem the least bit concerned by the theatrics suggesting she knows her daughter is a drama queen more interested in herself than those around her. Life hasn’t dealt her the hand she believes she deserves. Her twin brother is more attractive physically and in personality ... and without trying has stolen her man. The question is, was she always this way or is it a learned coping behavior to deal with repeated disappointment?
Why Jared married her we don’t know … did he love her, was it a necessity or was it a subconscious attempt to be close to Craig?
So what happens now that Craig knows of Jared’s feelings …?
I understand why you felt compelled to complete this story once the voices began and why it grew beyond your expectation. It’s a good read.

Thank you so much, dugh. You ask all the right questions, and there will be a few more chapters before we get all the information, so bear with me, buddy. This story did really grab me... surprised the hell out of me too... I hope you like where it goes. Carly is one pissed off person right now, but does she have a right to be? Thanks for the great review, dugh... take good care... cheers... Gary...

Sorry Kalandor... I missed this... I guess because it was a story review and not a chapter review. Glad you liked the beginning. This story took over my head pretty quickly, and kind of surprised me... it was meant to be a short anthology piece. Thanks for the great review, and I hope you stick around for the rest... great hearing from you... cheers... Gary...

Thanks, Chris! I'm sure Craig and Jared have the house finished by now, and that it is a real home for them and Bailey. :)

I had read this story a few years ago and I loved it. However, the story stuck, every now and then I thought back to it without remembering many details. I'm glad to have read it again! Despite the fierce beginnings, it's a real feel good story.

Thanks, Ullyssess! I love to hear when people reread one of my stories. It means a lot that it stuck with you all this time. I believe this is the story where my writing skills took a leap forward. Cheers!
