Jacob's Advocate

   (4 reviews)

Tyler and Jacob were the best of friends, until a misunderstanding tore them apart.  After Jacob's revenge, the boy he hurt the most becomes his strongest supporter in an attempt to undo the mistake that caused the whole incident to begin with.

This story is about the mistakes people make in the heat of anger, and the love that will stop at nothing to save them from it, and the overall consequences that follow.  Join Tyler as he becomes Jacob's Advocate.

A story not for the faint-hearted, this story is likely to provoke a range of emotions, many of them to the extreme; rage, sadness, anxiety, melancholy and joy.

The author @Jeff Burton has infused the main characters with many, if not all, the emotions experienced by the reader and written these characters without any artifice. The reader is exposed to a warts-and-all view and not all is pleasant to view. Jeff does not resort to melodrama; situations both pleasant and unpleasant are presented factually, which I found only increased their impact, such that some of the events are very upsetting to read.

The greatest strength of this story is the authenticity of the characters and their development in response to life and its ups and downs.

I thoroughly recommend this wonderful story to anyone who admires literary craftsmanship of the highest order. Well done @Jeff Burton.

Teenagers are a lot. Teen boys are a whole lot extra. Spend some quality time getting to know a group of young friends who have a special, mature bond.

Jacob is a boy worth saving. Truthfully his redemption arc is, at times, difficult to read yet every word carries its own magic.

Kudos @Jeff Burton on a thoughtful, emotion-filled, rather epic story.

Turn to Chapter One, dear readers. You’ll love it.
