The Jerk-Off - 26. Chapter 26 Maybe I’ll Join You

They spooned together on the California king bed, the dinner tray filled with what was left of a steak frites dinner for two, near their feet. A bottle of champagne, half consumed, was on the room service table. The lights of downtown Minneapolis twinkled outside the tall windows of the upper floor suite in the trendy Rand Tower Hotel. Heavy drapes, dramatic lighting, ornate wallpaper, and 12-foot ceilings.

Elliott yawned, nudging the guy behind him. He could tell from his breathing that he was starting to fall asleep. He turned his head to be sure.

“When are you going to stop using that shampoo? It smells like shit.” The acrid, bitter aroma tickled his nasal passages.

“As soon as the dandruff is gone,” he murmured.

Elliott yawned again and, with it, released a long and satisfying sigh. “Well, what do you think, brother dear?”

“I think—well, I think,” Stuart yawned. “We should get ready for bed. We fly out in a few hours.” He stood up and stretched, turning to his identical twin.

“You gonna miss this place?”

“Ha! Not for a minute!” Elliott laughed. Then he became a bit more serious. “Well, I’ll miss Freddie. Maybe a little.”

“Awww, Elliott, someone have a crush?” Stuart teased.

Elliott sought to change the subject.

“So tell me, Little, what have you got lined up for us next?” Elliott frequently called him that. Stuart was, after all, three minutes younger than he was.

“Well, while you were in the shower, I received a dark web message from an old acquaintance of ours.”

“I could only guess.”

“Yeah, you could, but you’d probably be wrong. It was Wy Valdespino. He’s got a project for us in Monte Carlo. Something about a backgammon tournament.”

“So, we’re switching sides?”

“Why not? The FBI pays top dollar. You know that.”

Elliott sighed. “Well, good. I hate cold weather, anyway. I hope this one takes us through the winter.”

“Maybe you could find a way to get Fred to join us.”

Elliott chuckled. “There’s an idea.” He pulled himself off the bed, grabbing a leftover morsel of meat from the dinner tray.

“Where ya goin’?”

“To the bathroom. I’m gonna take a whiz and maybe jerk-off.”

“There’s an idea,” Stuart mimicked, with a giggle. “Maybe I’ll join you.”

The End.

p> Thank you so much for reading my story. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. As I talked about in some of my responses after chapters, this story is mostly character driven. I so much fell in love with Thayer, Ozzie, C.O., Romey, Elliott (even Stuart), the Ledecker’s, Sheriff Concannon and his deputies, all of the Fibbies including Claire, the Mafia rats, Clark and The Ghost, Zoov, Tyrone, as well as Kat, Kara, Gretchen, and Cutie. Oh, and I can’t forget Shamus. Full Disclosure once and for all: I AM NOT Shamus, although I could be!

If you’re so inclined, dear readers, perhaps you’d like to complete the recommendations section. It would be so helpful to other readers. And, if you’re so inspired, you might write a review. I would be so flattered and grateful.

What a surprise ! Stuart and Elliott are identical twins and worked the Ledecker deal together. They got away scott free.

Now ,Stuart said we--not just Stuart- an offer from the  FBI to investigate a blackgammon tournament in Monte Carlo. They are leaving soon. So the upper echelons of the FBI know about the twins and their deadly skills and did not telll the locals

He finally know about the existence of the twins. They got away.

Thank you are a very interesting, compelling story I have already made a positive recommendtion.

Identical twins revealed in the last chapter?🤔.....Ok what soap did or do you write for😄 I'm making a recommendation right now

Ha! That would be fun Dog! I also write some sketch comedy…have dreamt about one of my sketches being performed on “Saturday Night Live.” Regrettably, they don’t take solicited scripts.

Actually, the FBI didn’t know about Stuart until Tyrone snapped that photo of him closing the transaction with Dickie Lee. Remember, Valdespino had to order a “last known” from one of the techs on duty to be sure. It was only then that the FBI was able to generate a vague sketch for local law enforcement and the Fibbies on the scene to use. Stuart and Elliott are so illusive that even the FBI hasn’t ever set eyes on them. And, in spite of that fact, they respect their skills enough to hire them for “special” projects.

My brain had to form multiple new neural pathways @drsawzall in an attempt to keep up with the fast pace of the story, and the conclusion resulted in the catastrophic destruction of several synapses which had slowly been burning out with my changing views on who did what to whom, how, why and when. Like Bohemian Rhapsody, a mish-mash of styles, tenuously held together with the end result being a masterpiece.

Well done @JLynch.

Thanks so much for staying with this until the end. I so much appreciate your generous comments and astute observations. You were one of the few that was able to sniff Elliott out early in the game.
