Having lived during a time of great social changes, I view this poem as a tribute to the many human beings that forced others to change how the believed and acted.  These were the men and women that stood up and let others know they would not be defined by stereotypes, or made demons by bigoted religious beliefs.  This is a loving homage to the many people who have led the fight against hate and bigotry.

This made me smile because my Husband is this person - out and doesn't care who knows it. Like this poem says, these people are happy to share their courage.  It is a gift to some of us.

Nice to see a poem in the anthology.
