Naked Calendar

   (10 reviews)
Sub-genres: Drama, General Romance

The sleepy village of Crumbington is about to get a wake-up call.

When the new chairperson of the Summer Fête Committee pushes to create a naked calendar of the Crumbington football team, mouths drop open. Her further pronouncement at having snagged a celebrity host for the fête—rising television and movie star Clifton O’Keefe, and ex-resident of Crumbington—is met with indifference.

Not by Nathan Fresher, though, local baker and captain of the football team. He had been Clifton’s boyfriend in high school, until Clifton and his family disappeared into the night over ten years ago.

A naked calendar of village footballers (aka soccer players)? Sign me up (to buy the calendar). When do I get my copy?
;–)

Nathan Fresher is the village baker. He runs the bakery that his relatives have run for generations. But he’s just going through the motions, dreaming of escaping the burden of owning the family business.

If you’ve read any of lomax’s previous stories, you know that there are complications, detours, and surprises around every corner. There are also a couple of cameos from previous stories. Find out for yourself why there are so many Comments for each chapter! You won’t regret it!

Response from the author:

Thanks @droughtquake. Not only for the lovely recommendation, but also for being the first most times to review each chapter. Also love your little stories and memoirs when you post a review, so please keep doing so.

This is the story about the village of Crumbington that gets a wake up call when the new Chairpersons of the Committee wants to make a naked calendar of the village footballers.

Nathan Fresher, the football captain has been running the village bakery for generations, shows no surprise when she announces that she has a celebrity as he and his family disappeared from the village 10 years earlier.

As with all Lomax’s stories there are cameos from previous stories and plenty of complications, detours, surprises and mysteries around almost every corner.

A truly fantastic story that I highly recommend as a great read,

Response from the author:

@chris191070 You are such a sweetie. Thanks for coming along for the ride. Love the beautiful review, and I’m ready to write a short tribute to many of my recent characters. Hope you recognise some of them, because they’ll all be in the same story.

Fantastic from beginning to end! It had everything I look for in a story. There were many steamy moments, laugh out loud scenes, and I wept (wept!) when reading the sadder chapters. It was a lovely rollercoaster of emotions, I highly recommend it.

This story is like one of your favourite recipes so full of different flavours and textures that you just can't have enough of it.  Lomax has written this story of love spiced with a lot of different emotions, but heavy on love and laughter.  The Nude Calendar is the catalyst for change of a delightful English village and it wonderful people.  Nathan, the village baker, is the main character, but he is supported by the delightfully different characters of the village. Settings, characters and dialogue have a very authentic feel.

Lomax is a highly talented writer with a wicked sense of humour.  His talent is obvious by comments of the many readers who follow his stories. I highly recommend you read this story.

Funny, witty, sensitive, sexy, caring and endearing characters; some kindhearted, honest and loyal, others...not so much but in all a very entertaining bunch. If you are a diehard romantic who enjoys nicely paced stories with plausible, uber relatable plots with just the right amount of twists and turns to keep you on your toes, and some superb writing: this will definitely be your cup of tea.

Enjoy! I most certainly did😉

Response from the author:

Thanks so much @Cachondeo for the the kind review, and for coming on the journey with me. A lot of this was dreamed up and written after reading reader’s comments such as your own. Getting a lovely review like this makes all the effort feel worthwhile.

Naked Calendar is my absolute favorite story of yours @lomax61  you created a character who had all sorts of loss and abandonment. He meets a man and falls in love. He gets closure In many ways. It completes him and opens the doors to his life and happiness. I read this book often. Chapter 21 makes me a blubbering idiot every time! Thank you!  I cannot recommend this story enough.

Response from the author:

This has been the first @lomax61 story I have red, and it has been a great joy reading it, so, as relatively new active member her at GA, I have decided to leave a review.

The story is situated in picturesque English countryside, beautifully and eloquently described. The author, in a best old English writers style, lead as through landscapes, villages and towns we have seen in those great BBC series and dramas. We meet Nathan, local baker and football player, dreaming about leaving this small place. In story rich with good English humor, author makes a plot around village holiday, and idea to promote the event by selling naked calendar, with pictures of local football team. When you add new love, former love and celebrity, some cunning ladies, cousin from Australia, friends and teammates, you get a gallery of wonderful characters with such entertaining story that you cannot leave till you reach the end.

Response from the author:

Sorry for the late response @Cane23,

Thank you for your kind review, I'm glad you enjoyed the story. As you say, there's a lot crammed in here and I worry sometimes that I try to include too much in my stories.

Thanks for reading,

English is not my mother language (I'm italian...) but read this story it's been pure pleasure. The love story between the two main characters was clear since the beginning but... many things happened until the end.  The calendar at last is the center of many situations and different people following the energy that in moving around Nathan and Jaymes. And the movements goes around touching everyone in this story. But not only the characters, also the readers as I saw from all the messages.

So at last, forgive my poor english and

Grazie Brian!

Thank you, @GoodReader for your wonderful review. I’ve been a little absent from the site recently due to some life issues, but am always grateful for feedback on my stories. I’m in the process of rewriting this tale and condensing elements to make this a two book series. I also need to start posting a few more stories, so I hope you’ll keep reading.
