Parasitic Love

   (2 reviews)

Connor is a miserable guy. He hates his job, hates his family, his girlfriend, and pretty much everyone else too. Then he finds a naked boy in his backyard with a serious case of amnesia, and slowly, Connor begins to care. But the boy has secrets. Someone is hunting him, and lights appear in the sky. Just who is this odd, beautiful boy, and just what is he capable of?

This is a scifi story with plenty of twists, turns, and mysteries to unravel. Connor lives in a decrepit and isolated trailer on the edge of a swamp. It's indicative of his entire life. He has a dead end job delivering pizzas and he lives day by day. His entire life is upended when he finds a naked boy in the swamp who is in such a state of dissociative fugue he is like an infant.

Connor is very much an antihero. He's had a hard life. He angers easily and is difficult to like. One of the beauties of mastershakeme's storytelling is her ability to get the depth of the psychology of her characters right. The central characters seem like real people who are out there living their lives and she is giving you a privileged window in which to view them. You'll love Connor and you'll hate him. He'll frustrate the hell out of you almost as much as he is frustrated by his own life. Don't let this dissuade you, it's one deusy of a read.

Response from the author:

Thank you @drpaladinfor the glowing review. I didn't mean to make Connor so off-putting, but it is what it is! I'm definitely keeping it in mind for the next story I'm working on... I've done way too many anti-heros 😅 it was a pleasure entertaining you!

This is an amazing story. I would love for it to continue if it was possible.
