A realistic look at a day in the life of someone who allowed his partner to be the control factor - thus, an unequal relationship to begin with.  In the end, he does stand up for himself.  I like the analogy of editing a film to editing life.  Perhaps the roughness of the story is in itself another analogy...

Well done, worth the read, brings a gritty realism to the forefront, life after all isn't all cupcakes!

An interesting piece.

Written in first person. I felt the characters were a bit under developed and didn't feel particularly sympathetic to either of them. It was also a little rough as it could do with an editor. However, it wouldn't need much.

I like the realism here, and I understand that happily ever after just isn't realistic in every story. Thanks for posting this brave piece.

Thanks for your useful comments. I don’t usually write in first person or present tense, so the whole thing was an experiment.

Very sad. After a whole day spent working in a Covid Hospital I needed a romantic Happy Ending.
