This is the story of the trials and troubles of Johnnie, born Edward John Lester in Scotland, in 1842

Although he came from a poor background, with the assistance of a wealthy uncle, Johnnie was able to complete his education and university studies to become a doctor, only to be falsely accused of housebreaking and larceny, and he is sentenced to transportation to the Swan Colony in Australia.

Fremantle Goal / Prison was operational from 1855 till 1991, and is now a museum, function centre and YHA hostel.

A total of 43 Men and 1 Women were hanged at the prison from 2/3/1889 to 26/10/1964.

A great short story from Quokka. It features Jonny who is wrongly accused, sent to prison and truly discovers himself while there. It has plenty of history in this story. I would definitely recommend a read if you fancy a quick story.
