A Mourning Storm

The family (families) dynamics were well illustrated, even when not particularly enjoyable. While background and present tense (story time) descriptions are helpful, particularly if they are negative or uncomfortable, make sure to efficiently move through them to keep the story tempo and progression moving. Always ask the question, "Will a paper-weight do, or does it require the full brick." This story, over all, was well developed, and presented a  diversity of characters. In the romance relationships, try to be sensitive to presenting a balance of both side's full character development. I Thought this was an overall interesting and enjoyable read. Thank You for all your good work.

I’ve been reading Ronyx’s stories for some years.  This is probably one of his best works.  It begins by drawing the reader deeply into the hurt his main character felt from his loss and carries the reader through the main character’s emotional healing.  All through those tumultuous teen years.  Splendid story.  Xrgt

This is the story about an emotional journey. Richie has just lost his mother to cancer, only to find that the sperm-donor who left him, his little brother and sister, and his mother, has returned. Richie is so angry, he can only think of his father as a pronoun, not a name, not even "father" or "dad".

Richie's journey through the anguish of his loss, the hatred directed at his father, and the rebellion against a world that appears to have turned against him, is not an easy one. His mourning for his mother really is a storm of emotions, not all of them healthy, but eventually the storm abates. What it leaves behind is what the reader needs to discover

Richie faces a very rough transition from being a 15-year-old ‘adult’ who took care of his dying mother as well as his younger brother and sister, to having his long-absent father move his new family into Richie’s life and home. Richie’s father immediately tries to assert his authority over a son who had become used to making his own decisions. To add insult to injury, they move his father’s stepson into his room while he’s in school! Richie’s life is falling apart all around him.

Ronyx takes us on a journey along with Richie that’s more painful than his other stories. Richie definitely learns about himself and others as he progresses in his life. We see Richie's emotional growth and maturity. He is not the same person he was by the end of the story.

This is one of Ronyx’s sadder stories.

It deals with an angry gay kid, his absent father. Richie isn’t an easy person to live with, we follow him as he goes through life, as he overcomes various problems. We discover that Richie wears his heart on his sleeve,We watch him discover middle ground with his father and learns to get on with his new family.

Highly recommend as a great read.

This story may be one of Ronyx's saddest but it's one of my favorites. Ritchie isn't a character I relate to easily because let's face it, he can be a bit of a dick. But his pain cuts deep and not just from his mother's death. Reading Ritchie try and navigate life is hard at times but a others you get a real understanding of him as he wears his heart on his sleeve.
