All Over The Road 4. American Songbook

Genres: Romance
Sub-genres: General Romance

Deputy Sheriff Blake Alston is driving around a nothin' town on a Saturday night and sick of going back to an empty house and cold bed. But Axel Carmichael seems to have a talent for being in the right place at the right time. Blake isn't ready to have his heart broken again, but even with the fact that Axel is seven years his junior and in love with someone else, he can't quite get the young man out of his head.

Inspired almost entirely by the Easton Corbin song of the same name, and lot of long late night drives.

A truly heartwarming tale of a budding romance. This has all the elements of a compelling first chapter in a very long series, that I would eagerly follow. Yet, it is a complete story involving two wounded souls willing to embrace a potential future together in spite of remembered pain.

This short story packs a powerful punch. The dangers of unrequited affection and the need to remain hidden are interwoven beautifully in this tale from the American heartland.
