Johnny's been on the road with Santiago's Aldecaldos for years. Upon their return to California, Johnny meets V, another nomad, who seems to have a strange ability to put him at ease. When Johnny returns to Night City, V decides to come with. Johnny wants to bring his band back together, and to do that there's one person he needs more than anybody else: Kerry Eurodyne. Kerry, who hasn't seen Johnny in six years and is really pissed.

This is a fanfic based on the tabletop RPG franchise Cyberpunk and the video game Cyberpunk 2077, but all you really need to know is the world has fallen to pieces and everything is owned by corporations.

While I've taken characters, settings, and background events from these games, it should be perfectly fine to read even if you're not familiar with these, as it's my own story. All you really need to know is the world has fallen to pieces and everything is owned by corporations.

The idea for this story was inspired by the deep friendship the player character V can form with Johnny in Cyberpunk 2077. It got me wondering. If V had been around 50 years earlier, could he have prevented Johnny from self-destructing? So what I've done is move V from 2077 to the 2020s.
