Fleeting Eternity

   (11 reviews)
Genres: Romance
Sub-genres: General Romance

Does anything last forever?

This question is on the minds of all of our characters in this tale.  This isn't a story of eternal happiness.  Instead, it is one of using the time we have the best way that we can.

A life well-lived means that we go on long after our last breath - a fleeting life, rippling out forever.

This is a very emotional story.  I will update it 2x a week until it is done (19 chapters).

This story contains relationships with Dom/sub dynamics. This is in no way meant to be representative of D/s relationships in general. After all, there are as many ways of being together in the world as there are relationships.

Do yourself a favor and read this story. Wayne is a terrific writer! He created a cast of wonderful characters.  He wrote realistic dialogue and descriptions that put you in the scene immediately. The message of the story is clear and beautifully illustrated through Wayne's writing. Also read the other reviews. They said many things I thought but didn't repeat.

Response from the author:

Thank you, Jeffrey.  I'm so happy that you enjoyed the story, and that you stuck with me throughout the tale.  It means a lot to know folks like and enjoy the work I put into it, and you never hesitated to let me know when you found a chapter or a scene particularly engaging.  Thanks again.

If you want a funny, light-hearted, cute little romance, don't read this book. Read this book if you want to feel. If you're prepared for a rollercoaster of raw emotions and probably a few tears, this is the book for you. And even if you're not ready, read it anyway. You'll read the final word of the final chapter, and you'll be glad that you did. Wayne is a fantastic writer who will take you on a remarkable journey, so let him.

Response from the author:

Thank you so much, Thorn.

You're 100% right.  There are times when this story is tough to read, I know that's true.  The goal wasn't to write an easily digested tale; it was to show the power of a legacy, and as an example of how our actions affect the world beyond ourselves.  Thanks for editing this, talking with me about it, and helping me hone it to a fine point.  I appreciate you.

Response from the author:

Hi Chris.  Thank you for the great review, and for always taking the time to comment on the chapters.  I also appreciate that you read it pre-edit, and in its first incarnation with the photos.

I'm glad this work could touch you.  Thanks for reading.

This is an extremely well-written and powerful read.  It involves the reader from the first paragraph to the last, allowing one to experience the emotion, the values and the challenges presented.  Wayne is an excellent author and I encourage all to read his stories.

Response from the author:

Thank you, Tony.

You were one of the very first to read this story.  I asked initially for your help, so you could assist with some of the nuances of psychology, and helping me make sure I got things right with Tad and his process.  You were a great asset.  I appreciate that you took the time to ensure I got things right.  You helped make this a better story.  🙂

There are dozens upon dozens of fluffy romances out there. This isn’t one of them. Wayne Gray shows great skill in weaving the stories of different men together, giving the reader a beautiful, challenging  emotional tapestry to experience. Though you may want to, you ought not devour this tale. It needs time to savor, and is worth every moment you spend with it.

Response from the author:

Thank you, Parker.

I wondered if this story was just too much.  Was it too challenging, or did it ask too much of the reader?  Because you’re right... it’s not a fluffy tale.  It’s as true to life as I can get, and sometimes those stories are hard.  I’m glad you found the result worth the journey.

Thank you, Wayne. This isn't so much a review as it is to convey my gratitude for your story. Yes, this one was particularly difficult to finish and was definitely an emotional roller coaster. I woke up around 2:30 this morning in tears, having dreamt of Tad's final moments.

Me having been in Markus' shoes and you having mentioned that it only takes one person to make a difference... well, thank you for being that person not only to me, but to many others, as well. Thanks again.

Response from the author:

Thank you so much for the fantastic comment - review or not! 🙂

This story ... man. It was hard. It was hard to write, hard for Thorn to edit, hard to read. But I truly do think the journey is worth it. I mean, that's life. There's so much effort, hurt and pain wrapped up in life, but there's a lot of joy to be had too.

Markus' sections hit close to home for me too. We write what we know, right? Well, unfortunately, I know the desolation that comes from rejection, self-loathing, and a lack of support. I hope his arc helped show that even people like us can find happiness.

You're so welcome. Thanks for reading.

Wayne gives us an INCREDIBLE story...  very well written.  Packed with emotion and life lessons.  Great examples of how personal lives really can be successfully and happily lived outside the mainstream.  Great lessons on love, loss, memorializing, honoring, and finally adjusting and moving forward with life.

Many thanks to Wayne for stepping outside his comfort zone.  Many of us benefited from his stretch!!!  Come join us!

Tom

Response from the author:

Thanks for the great comments, Tom.  I’m thrilled you found the story so engaging.

You're right - I had to push myself to produce this work.  There were times it made me wonder if I was doing the right thing, if people could handle both of the relationship dynamics I picked.

But I’m glad we ended up where we did.  Thanks for going along with me on this journey.

This story is not always easy to read. It takes you through some very dark places, but is also filled with hope. I cried several times. The characters are very well written and even though I had other things I should have been doing, I kept on telling myself, ‘just one more chapter’.

Response from the author:

Thank you for the great review.

This was a tough story to tell, but I wanted very badly to do it. How will time be used when it becomes precious currency? I think that shows someone's true character, more than anything else.

I'm glad you read through the dark. I hope any light you found made the trip worth taking.
