  1. Did you catch Monday's blog featuring Comicfan's story, The Life of Seeon, as this month's Signature Feature? If not, go check it out and then download a copy of the graphic to share in your signature if you want to show your love for his story. If Monday's blog wasn't enough to move this story to the top of your TBR list, maybe today's excerpt will! Comicfan said: I picked it because it sets up the whole tale. Right from the start you know Seeon is seen as the lesser of the princes. The world he is used to, first two sons are important, then daughters so power can be gain by marriage. A third boy isn't needed and this excerpt shows that. To read more, check out the rest of the story here.
  2. This month we're changing it up a little and doing a feature for one of our Signature authors--and resident prompt guru--Comicfan. The story he chose to be featured was The Life of Seeon. Make sure you check it out (I bet those reviews will help you decide to read it sooner rather than later!) and then download the signature graphic below if you want to share you love for Comicfan's story. Length: 31,995 Description: Seeon Toleran is the fifth child of the ruling royal family. His life was one of study and devotion to his Gods. Then war came and the world Seeon knew ended. There were decisions that were made for him which drastically altered the direction of his life. Suddenly the world of the priesthood is gone as an option in Seeon's life. Instead he is made Ma' Nee. What will this mean to a youth who has known neither love nor choice? Will this end his world or open new vistas? Time will tell. Some Readers Said: If you want to spread the word about Comicfan's story, download the graphic below and add it to your signature! Make sure you come back on Wednesday to see the excerpt he chose to share!

Improve & Encourage #4: Hard Choices

I hope you all enjoyed the last Improve & Encourage feature, because it's time for another one. These features are meant to both provide feedback to authors and, similar to story reviews, point out stories that readers might not otherwise have found. It's similar to a review, in that the person doing the critique tells you what they liked about the story, but it differs in that they also provide constructive criticism. Each author signed up to participate, and sign up's are still open! These will post once a month until we no longer have content. Once that happens, I will critique the last author that posted. If you'd like to provide a critique for the blog, sign up in the thread. I'm hoping to have a lot more authors sign up, and just remember, by signing up, you are also volunteering to have your story critiqued and featured. Hard Choices Comicfan Critique By: JayT Please give us a short summary of the story you chose. Sean, a twenty-five-year-old business owner, meets Will one day when Will hires Sean’s business for a job. The two become fast friends, with Will giving Sean thoughtful gifts in hopes of brightening his day. The morning after their first official date, Sean literally runs into Caesar and finds himself attracted him. Now Sean faces trying to choose between the two men. He knows this choice will affect his entire life; who will he choose? What do you see as the strengths of the story/poem? The story is well written and told all the way through, leaving the reader with no lingering questions. Comicfan did an amazing job of developing Will’s character, almost as if he wanted the reader to fall in love with Will. Although there was potential to tell more of this story, Comicfan kept it short, bringing the tale to completion in one chapter. What do you see as the weaknesses of the story/poem? Though they are few, there are some (maybe three or four) grammatical mistakes; common ones that I myself make often. The main weakness of this story is character development and growth. While Will’s character was developed nicely, the other characters hardly grew at all. We, as readers, know that Sean is attracted to both Will and Caesar, but he never lets on that he loves Caesar at all. It was almost like he was settling for Caesar because Will left. If Sean had said ‘I love you’ to Caesar, letting the reader know that it is true, the story would not have been as bitter. How do you think the story/poem could be improved? There will always be the “what if’s” of life, but we cannot linger on them and be happy where we are. If Sean had shown any other emotion besides hurt at the end, letting the reader know that he was happy and in love, the story would be greatly improved. What was your favorite part? (scene/sentence/etc) I think my favorite part of the story, although I say favorite reluctantly, is the breaking of the Pez Dispenser. This scene symbolizes the end of Sean and Will’s relationship, making it one of the most influential scenes of the story.
  4. Hi All, I just wanted people to know I am still working on things. Jonas is down to his last two chapters and I am working hard on finishing them up. I also picked up Seeon and have the first of three chapters done to finish that story up. To add to my stuff, I do have a new chapter coming on a story called A Day in the Life of a Seer. That doesn't include the anthology story I am working on for the upcoming Roadtrip Anthology about the characters from Accidents Happen. The good thing about it is the fact you never have had to read the original, but it will stand on its own, but if you have it just means you will know what is happening in it more intimately. Wayne PS - Now that everything is nearly done any other thing I have forgotten to finish that you as my reader want?

    Coin In The Fountain

Everyone has a wish, but what happens when you get what you wish for? Is it perfect? Is it really what you want? Will you change the wish or will the wish change you? Dan didn't know what he was in for when he went to visit his grandmother. Sometimes you can't help what you do, even when you are warned not to. Not everyone gets the happily ever after that Disney promised. For a wish is magic, and magic always comes at a price. Careful when you toss that coin in the fountain, you might just be paying more than you thought you were. Comments are always welcome. I hope you enjoyed.

    Life Changes

I have a few stories I have been working on but I figured if I didn't get something going besides the anthologies people were going to think I didn't do anything. Hence the story Life Changes. Inspired by the work being done by Renee Stevens who is putting out a chapter a week based off the prompts, I figured I could do that too, especially since I create the prompts. The story will mainly revolve around Ralph and his brother, Neil. Their lives will undergo some changes and they will have to figure out how to roll with the punches. I hope to keep everyone's interest so comments will help to know if I am close to the base or not. Each chapter will be fairly short, meaning between 800 to a 1000 words approximately. Let me know what you think.
