  1. I guess the first thing I should do is get the dust rag out and wipe the spiderwebs off of my blog. I can't believe it's been so long since I've logged on to GA. Actually, this is the first time in a long time I've been able to sit down and catch my breath in a long time. I'm sure that everyone knows by know, but for those that might not know, I became a dad in April. My head's still spinning a little bit, but the newness of it is pretty much gone now, if that makes any sense. My daughter already knows how to get what she wants, which is pretty much to be held at all times during the day and night, for no one to talk while she's nursing, and to never, EVER, be put in her carrier. I don't know what I'd do if it weren't for my fianc
  2. So yesterday was interesting. As most of you know, I work for a golf course not too far from my house working on golf carts. I repair the ones that are down and I maintain the rest of them. Part of my job is keeping the shop in order. I organize and hang belts, hoses, and tools. I also order replacement parts and keep track of inventory. Well, until March I was the only one doing the job, but since I've been getting more and more yard maintenance work, I've really cut back at the golf course, so they hired someone else. Now, when I say someone else, I don't mean someone who's competent. This idiot, and that's being kind, gets absolutely nothing done when he's at work. One of his jobs is to move the chemical drums from one raised platform to another as needed, something I'm not supposed to be doing because I'm not 18 Well, half the time, I wind up having to do it anyway because that lazy bum didn't do it on his shift. To make matters worse, when a new shipment of belts or hoses comes in, he either doesn't hang them at all, or even worse, he hangs them out of order even though there's a clear method for how it's supposed to be done. So then what happens? I have to go back and clean up his mess when I'm on. So yesterday we were scheduled to overlap each other for an hour, and when I got there, nothing was done. There was an empty chemical drum, there were carts sitting in the shop that needed to be routined (that's what we call a regular tune up/inspection) and there were f**king shop rags almost everywhere I looked. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the fact that he goes through about three times as many shop rags as I do, and never puts them in the Aramark bin when he's done with them. And where was he? In the office, sitting at the PC, which wasn't even on, pretending to be working on something important. Of course, the AC was cranked and he was relaxing in the cool air, and in the meanwhile, the shop was hot and in a disaster state. So I went into the office and told him nicely that the drum was empty, and asked him to change it while I took care of the carts. He tells me to move the drum, that he doesn't feel like it. I told him that I wasn't supposed to be moving the chemical drums around, and he told me that he wasn't supposed to be doing it either. Right at that moment, I felt a flash of heat run over my whole body and I felt like I wanted to kill him, but instead, I just turned and went to our boss. I told him what Herb (the jerk) said, so my boss walked with me back to the shop. Of course, Herb got up and did what he was supposed to do right away, but as soon as our boss was gone, he walked up and told me off. I was already pissed, and he was trying my nerves as it was. But at some point, he poked my chest with his finger, and it just set me off. I never put a hand on him, but I went off and told him exactly what he was: a fat, disgusting, lazy f**K who probably can't even pay for pussy, then I used my thumb and my forefinger to show him him how small I guessed his dick was before I stormed off. Of course, he ran back to my boss, and I was sent home. I don't live far at all from work, so it didn't take me long to get home. About ten minutes later, my boss calls and asks if I'd like a chance to get my job back. I said yes and he said to come talk to him, so I went back. The three of us wound up sitting down in his office for what I thought was going to be a civil discussion, but it turned into a forum for Herb to go off on me. He actually tried to stand over me while I was sitting and tell me what line I was going to tow. I got right back up in his face, and I swear I was about to spit on the son of a bitch but instead I just walked out and went back home. So at that point, I'm figuring that my job is gone for sure, so I decided that I just wanted to lay down. About 20 minutes later, my cell phone rings and it's my boss's boss, the guy who originally hired me, and he asks if I have time to meet him for lunch. So we meet and he lets me tell him what's been going on since March, and when I was finished, he promised me that I wouldn't have to put up with that kind of crap anymore and that I wasn't terminated, which was incredibly cool considering the fact that I've cut my schedule back so much. I actually wound up working an extra hour yesterday, and I was so amped up from what happened that when I got home, I sat down at my desk and pounded out a chapter and a half of If By Chance. I guess in a way I should feel sorry for Herb. I mean, he's a total slob. He has a belly that looks kinda like bread dough in his shirt, he slouches, and he's got a remarkably wide ass. I say that because it's not proportional to the rest of his body. Also, he rides his bike to work, but he doesn't lose any weight because he only rides the damn thing fast enough not to fall over. Literally, if he rode any slower, he'd fall. It's pathetic. Add to that the fact that he smokes, his teeth are gross and it doesn't look like he washed his knees or elbows, and I'm sure you can get the picture. So yeah......
  3. Steve's reference to Bone Thugs and Harmony made me bust out with some of their stuff...here's one of my favorite songs by BT~n~H http://youtube.com/watch?v=-L5Gkv03HaY Oh yeah, and here's my answers to Kevin's living will question, too. Living Will: I don't see why anyone wouldn't have one. I guess I can't have one yet, but in 6 months, it seems like it only makes sense. Life Support: Not for me, thank you Do not Resuscitate: I can see this if I'm already terminally sick and I'm dying anyway, but I think that if I haven't been breathing for a few minutes and there's a major possibility of brain damage, no way. Euthanasia: I support this for myself and for anyone else who wants it, but it should never be forced on someone or be a decision made without the person being Euthanasize'd consenting
  4. Ok, so as most people know, I'm not much of an environmentalist. I believe that global warming is a hoax and that we need to industrialize Africa so that the people of that continent can enjoy the fruits of a thriving economy. I also believe that relaxing environmental standards on industry will benefit the entire world in the long run. But I'm not completely void of environmental stewardship. I stopped eating red meat, pork and chicken almost a month ago and I'm working on my pesky addiction to seafood as we speak. I also drive a gas stingy Japanese car (a Honda Civic) and have taken a vow never to own an SUV or an American made (GM, Ford, Chrysler) car. But I think that's not enough. So here's my new pledge. I vow never to buy a subscription to a major newspaper or magazine. In 2006, it was estimated that it took nearly 4 billion trees a year to publish newspapers around the world alone. That's not including magazines. In the United States alone, we consume 187 billion pounds of paper each year. Add to that the fact that most newspapers are delivered by cars, and most likely, not very nice cars. Or even worse, if it's a big paper route, a truck or SUV, and that's some horrible pollution all the way around. So I'm asking anyone who reads this to reconsider your subscription to the newspaper. You can read the news online just as easily, and with minimal damage to the environment. Also, cancel your magazine subscriptions and read them online too. Or better yet, don't get online subscriptions to the newspapers and magazines because of the selfish way that they've destroyed our environment. Look for publications that are published exclusively online and give them your business instead. Ok, I'm done now.
  5. Wisconsin Gay Couples Could Face Jail For Marrying In California by 365Gay.com News Center Staff LINK (Madison, Wisconsin) Same-sex couples from Wisconsin who go to California to marry could find themselves facing criminal charges when they return home. A little known Wisconsin law makes it a criminal offense to enter into a marriage outside the state if that marriage were illegal in Wisconsin. While the law was passed decades ago to prevent underage couples from crossing state lines to marry it could be used against same-sex couples the Madison Capital Times reported Wednesday. The penalty is a fine of up to $10,000, nine months in prison, or both. Wisconsin law limits marriage to opposite-sex couples. Same-sex marriage became legal in California following a state Supreme Court ruling that went into effect June 17. Unlike Massachusetts which limits gay marriage only to out-of-state couples whose marriages would be legal at home the California ruling opened up marriage to anyone. LGBT civil rights group Fair Wisconsin is warning couples they could face arrest if they marry in California. It is not known how many gay and lesbian couples from the state have wed in California. One couple from Madison who are preparing to marry say they are willing to take the chance. "It would be interesting to be prosecuted," Bob Klebba who is planning to marry longtime partner David Waugh told the Capital Times. "It would really bring up a reaction in the public sentiment." In 2006, Wisconsin voters approved a constitutional amendment limiting marriage to opposite-sex couples. Fair Wisconsin said it is now focusing its efforts on seeking passage of bills granting recognition of domestic partnerships. Spokesperson Glenn Carlson said he is hopeful of getting a bill passed in the next session of the legislature.
  6. American Family Association calls for boycott of McDonald's by Roger Sinasohn Jul 6th 2008 9:01AM I've heard of a lot of reasons why people avoid "Old McDonald's", as the famous fast food chain is known around our house -- the general unhealthiness of the food, the destruction of the rainforests, their marketing through school notices, and so on -- but the American Family Association has come up with a new one. The AFA is calling for a boycott of the golden arches because the company is "promoting the homosexual agenda, including homosexual marriage." According to AFA founder and chairman Rev. Don Wildmon, McDonald's is "promoting a lifestyle that would utterly destroy the traditional family." He's right, of course -- now that my neighbors are allowed to get married, my wife and I are required to get a divorce and I have to shack up with a guy. McDonald's has said in the past that it is "a company that actively demonstrates its commitment to the gay and lesbian community" -- I guess for some, that's a reason to boycott them; for me, it's a reason to support them.
  7. NEW YORK - Rush Limbaugh will make about $38 million a year to continue his radio show over the next eight years. In addition, he says will be getting a nine-figure signing bonus from Premiere Radio Networks. ADVERTISEMENT Premiere wouldn't disclose details of the deal but Limbaugh gave the information to The New York Times for an article to be published Sunday. Limbaugh's three-hour show, broadcast from his office in Florida, is heard on some 600 radio stations across the country. More than 14 million people listen to him at least once a week, according to Talkers magazine. Sean Hannity is second with more than 13 million listeners. "This is exactly where I want to be, doing what I was born to do, with an amazing audience and phenomenal support from affiliate stations and sponsors," Limbaugh said in a statement. "I'm having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have." He declined an interview request from The Associated Press. Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos" this year showed his continuing influence in political discourse. He urged his listeners to vote for Hillary Clinton to keep the Democratic nomination fight going in the hopes of hurting Barack Obama. Limbaugh, however, is no big fan of presumptive Republican nominee John McCain, even though he prefers him to Obama. Limbaugh, 57, said in January that if McCain were nominated "it's going to destroy the Republican Party." Keeping Limbaugh in the fold is crucial if radio is going to be competitive with the Internet and satellite radio, said Michael Harrison, publisher of Talkers. "It shows that there's a strong commitment on the part of one of the leading companies in our industry to remain viable for the next decade," he said. "If radio is going to continue and to survive it's got to do what it takes to keep its biggest players happy and exclusive to radio." Premiere Radio Networks, which is owned by Clear Channel Radio, is also partners with Limbaugh in "The Limbaugh Letter," a monthly newsletter, and the Web site RushLimbaugh.com. The company also syndicates "The Rush Limbaugh Morning Update," a 90-second commentary that airs Monday through Friday. Charlie Rahilly, Premiere president, said advertiser and affiliate demand for Limbaugh's show is at an all-time high. Despite the reported big price tag, Rahilly said: "It's a really rational decision ... It's great for Premiere and Clear Channel." He said there are new media opportunities that can make the deal more lucrative in the coming years. For example, the possibility of streaming Limbaugh material on demand on the computer, or making commentaries available on wireless devices, are potential future ways to raise revenue.
  8. Sorry in advance for anyone creeped out by this entry. Lately I've been thinking a lot about dying. Not wanting to die, but just dying in general. I guess more to the point, it's been consuming all of my thoughts and even my dreams at night. I just get the feeling that death might be right around the corner for me, and I can't shake it. Last night I woke up in a cold sweat from a dream that I was being murdered, and a couple of nights before, I actually woke up kneeling at my bedside, and I swear I was talking to God. I'm a religious person, and I believe in God, but I don't necessarily believe in premonitions. Still, I can't shake this feeling that something's about to happen to me. It's like a sense of urgency I have to tie up all of my loose ends and do what I can to patch things up with people who matter to me, especially Taylor. Of course this is probably all just stupidity on my part, but as stupid as it seems, it is what it is. We all have to go sometime, and maybe my time is coming sooner than later. Or, maybe not. I guess only time will tell, huh?
  9. Ok, so it's been 4 nearly meat free days for me I can't say that I haven't indulged a little, since I had 3 ounces of shrimp with my dinner last night, but so far I'm doing pretty good My diet has mainly consisted of leafy greens, colorful fruits and berries, whole grain carbs and at least a gallon of water a day. I was craving seafood last night, so I had my stepmom saut
  10. Finally, after two long months of making my initial request, I can finally say that my work is mine again. I'm not going to mention a domain, but what I will do is caution other authors to be careful where they ask to have their work hosted. Not all site owners will be as willing to take your stories down, and the process could take several weeks. It hasn't been fun, and unfortunately, this morning I had to be very assertive about what I wanted. And as everyone here knows, I hate being assertive. I'm now one step closer to my goal of having my work hosted exclusively at Gay Authors, which in hindsight, is the only site I should have ever committed to in the first place. I certainly wish all other sites good luck, but I think that in order to be the best, you have can't be on a second rate site with second rate authors. And if it isn't GA or one of its affiliated sites, it's second rate. _______________________________________________________________________________________ So I've made a new goal for myself this summer. On top of working and earning as much money as I can, and besides writing and churning out stories that people want to read, I've decided to research NAFTA so that I can form an educated opinion on the issue. It seems to me that NAFTA has been a disaster for the United States and its working class sector, but for some reason, it's been supported by democrats and republicans alike. In fact, in 1993, Al Gore debated Ross Perot on CNN in favor of ratifying NAFTA. Here's part one of that debate. http://youtube.com/watch?v=GhwhMXOxHTg

  14. Disclaimer: I'm writing this blog entry with about an hour's worth of sleep. One of my friends lost his dad last night, and along with the rest of our crew, I've been at his house off and on all night and morning. Please forgive me if I don't make any sense. So Barrack Obama's the Democratic nominee for the year 2008. Hillary is out(though not technically), and everyone's wondering what's next. More specifically, everyone wants to know if Obama will pick wild Hillary to be his VP. Well guess what....it's way too early for that kind of talk. Obama and Clinton are in talks right now about setting up a meeting between the two, and everyone's buzzing about what'll be said. Well, wonder no more, people. I already have this figured out. Hillary's campaign is $30 million dollars in the hole. If she ends it now, she won't be able to hold any fundraisers to try to pay it all off. Especially the debt that the campaign owes Hillary and Bill. Of course, that opens up a whole new set of questions.... If she goes on, who would donate money to her campaign? If she quits, how will she pay off her campaign debt when she can't raise money? If she doesn't just go away quietly, and pressures Obama to make her the VP, who will it hurt more? Her or Obama? If Obama does make her his VP, does it help or hurt his campaign and his presidency (assuming he wins)? The answer to these questions are so simple. The fact is, Barrack Obama bin Laden has a ton of campaign cash left over, and now that he's got the nomination locked up, he's going to get 300 wheelbarrels full of even more cash. We know he wants Hillary to go away, and he definitely doesn't want her to be his VP. So what does he do? Simple, his campaign pays off her debt, she gives him her blessing, works hard for him on the campaign trail and after November, she goes on with her life. It's way too early to talk about Obama's pick for VP, but everyone's doing it. I think he should look to the Old Dominion for his pick if he's really interested in the best candidate. Tim Kaine, Mark Warner or Jim Webb. All three of them would be excellent choices for the VP slot, and they would all give his ticket the conservative touch it needs to win over repukes that hate John McCain. But that's a topic for another entry, so I'm just gonna break it off right here and look for some pudding or some ice cream since my belly's growling.

  16. From the look of things, Hillary Clinton is at the end of the road, so to speak. We can only hope that in this case, the end of the road also means the end of her political career, as it seems she won't be the president of the United States. She doesn't need New York anymore, and while she may run for re-election, I can't see her being re-elected. Her ugly side was on full display for all to see this year, and boy was it ugly. My guess is that Obama and McCain are going to have a close election, but that Obama will pull it out. McCain is just too old to win the presidency. People in this country have to understand that a near centurion has old, out of date views that have no relevence in today's society. I'm not wishing the man harm or anything, but I wouldn't mind seeing his health take a bad turn right before the repuke convention so that they can put someone a little more tolerable than McCain up against Obama, someone like Ron Paul...ok, just kidding. I know he'd never have a chance to be nominated, much less win the Whitehouse, but the reason for that is sad, really. You've got a guy who respects the constitution and the rights of everyone in the nation, and because of that, he's cast as crazy. I guess what I'd like to know is how he's considered crazy while our current president took us to war against the wishes of the nation, and in spite of the warnings from people all around him who knew what was coming. Now we know that everything they said would happen was right, and McCain wants to continue on with this war. And somehow Ron Paul is crazy? Wow. What's amazing to me is how so many people are willing to vote for McCain. I imagine that most of them live in a singlewide trailer full of rent to own furniture, but that's another rant altogether. But it furthers my argument that not everyone should be allowed to vote. Ok, so that ends today's political rant. I've decided for personal reasons not to post in the political forums for the time being. If you'd like to debate anything I've said, or add to it, feel free to do so right here, because I won't be replying to posts in the political forums until further notice.
  17. So Barack Obama is having more pastor issues, or I guess in this case, it's priest issues. Either way, I don't think that this guy said anything bad at all, and I find his rant on Hillary especially hilarious. I don't think I can ever get enough of him acting out his version of what happened in Iowa when Hillary broke down and cried http://youtube.com/watch?v=EBvYICKJ3TI

Lately there's been a lot of discussion about reproductive rights, and whether they exist or not. Some people suggest that there are no such rights for individuals. For the record, I'd like to say that while I vehemently disagree with what they say, I will defend to the death their right to say it. I just thought it would be fun to run down a list of some very famous people who say that people have no reproductive rights. Shall we?? Randall Terry Pat Robertson Fred Phelps Shirley Phelps-Roper Jerry Falwell John Hagee Sam Brownback James Dobson Sally Kern John McCain Mike Huckabee Newt Gingrich Dick Armey Dr. Laura I guess I could be wrong. I mean, with so many moderate voices who have never expressed extremist views on any topic, and who aren't hateful toward women and gays in the least, how could I have possibly questioned the stance that there's no such thing as individual reproductive rights? And just to prove my point, watch this.... http://youtube.com/watch?v=gvxWdnu9iDE

  20. Warning: Rant Ahead I know I probably could have started this discussion in the Soapbox, but my feelings are too strong to take what I'm about to say there. I feel a real anger when I think about the people of Africa, and what they're subjected to on a daily basis. Not just by outsiders, but their own people. If you've been following the Global Warming thread in the Soapbox, you can see where I addressed the issue, but I really held back. I don't understand how someone can be against global warming and cutting down the rain forests to the extent that they would advocate the suffering of almost an entire continent of people. Now, I'm not saying that anyone on GA feels that way. Unless someone says they'd rather see people die than to cut down the rain forests or indutrialize Africa, I refuse to believe that anyone here would feel that way. But the fact is, there are people who feel that way. Most of them are global warming extremists, who don't mind if the people in Africa suffer un-necessarily for someone else's cause. I keep trying to work out in my head how these people can live in their homes or apartments or whatever they have, use energy, drive cars and SUV's, take plane trips, eat meat, shop at malls, use their air conditioners and heaters, talk on their cell phones and spend money while, at the same time, expecting the people of Africa to live like it's the year 1800. http://www.independent.org/pdf/tir/tir_08_1_nelson.pdf The only reason I can come up with in my head is that they see themselves as a little, or a lot, better than Africans. And that view of themselves is probably born of racism. Basically, in their minds, the Western world is mostly white, and Africa is almost exclusively black. So it doesn't matter as much, right? Wrong. It's time for these idiots to get over themselves and their racism. Sell their cars, move out of their homes, live in the elements and see how they like it. In fact, they should give up whatever wealth they have and move to Africa so they can live the way they want others to live. Maybe then they'll change their minds.
  21. So it's pretty obvious that Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee. Unless there's some underhanded deal in a back alley abortion clinic somewhere that gives Hillary the nomination, that is. So, now it's Obama vs. McCain, and the attacks will no doubt start flying his way from the repukes. So what's an extreme leftist piece of crap like Obama to do? Give the Iraqi's a real date to have control over the violence in their own country Offer incentives to American companies to research and develop new, innovative sources of energy Don't pick Hillary as his VP Do pick a govenor from the South as his VP Highlight the HUGE age difference between John McCain and himself in a respectful way Stop threatening to take profits away from oil companies, or any company Get domestic spending under control Don't raise taxes Do lower taxes on everyone, especially businesses that create jobs in the US Set a goal that the entire nation can work towards, like being entirely energy independent by 2020

    Religion

I wanted to bring this to my blog, because what I'm about to say isn't going to be allowed in the forums. Remember, before proceeding, that this is my blog, and I am not obligated to respect your position or opinion on any manner. There's a good chance that I probably will, though. I want to take this opportunity to respond to a certain number of posts in the Soap Box without starting a flame war or taking the thread off topic. You see, when the conversation starts to veer away from the original topic at hand, moderators come around and are justified in closing them. That's why there are headings for each topic. Let's proceed. This is a forum where people who are gay, lesbien, transgendered, bisexual, straight, black, white, hispanic, asian, middle eastern and anyone else comes. We don't come here to be labeled as "the enemy" because of our faith. There are certain radical elements of every religion, and they tend to cause the most trouble in the world. Christians have Fred Phelps and Pat Robinson. Muslims have Osama Bin Laden. it happens. When you label someone for their beliefs, regardless of what those beliefs are, you belittle yourself. You see, the reason I don't want this posted in a thread in the soapbox is because when I read such posts, my opinion for the people who say such things is lowered. This has nothing to do with the fact that they believe in something different than I believe in, or that they might not believe in anything at all. It has to do with the fact that they are painting with a broad brush, and each and every stroke of that brush hits me and everyone else in this community that holds a belief in their heart. If you don't understand those beliefs, read a book. Or better yet, reach out to someone and ask some questions. Because, as intellegent as you try to sound in your critism of those of us who practice with "snake oil, smoke and mirrors", you really come off as an intolerant bigot, and there's nothing intellegent or enlightened about being a bigot. If my faith is a part of a "con" then that's my cross to bear, not yours. I understand that some people on this board have been victimized in the name of religion. I think that's awful, and my heart goes out to you. I can also understand that some people are turned off by the fact that most, if not all, of the worlds major conflicts have been driven by religion. The war we're in right now is against a group of fanatics who want to force others to be what they are, or to murder them for not conforming. I also understand that there are those who claim to be men or women of faith, but who abuse their position in the church. Catholic priests, baptist ministers and muslim clerics are all guilty of such a breach of trust. I'm not going to get into a long debate here on how the actions of a few can have a profound effect on an entire religion. We can all figure it out for ourselves. What I am going to do, though, is tell anyone who wants to belittle muslims, christians, hindus, jews, catholics, protestants, atheists, agnostics, gays, lebians, bisexuals, heterosexuals, blondes, men, women, transgendered people, satan worshipers or anyone else who might be different from you to get a grip. You're not better than anyone else here on GA, or in the world. This community is supposed to be friendly to people who are different, so don't point your finger and put labels on people who are just being themselves.
  24. So I'm thinking about getting one of those bean bag thingy's to hold my Garmin in place on top of my dashboard. I was actually determined to buy one last night, but I left my check card on my dresser and didn't have enough cash on me to do that and be able to buy gas so I could drive to Smithfield and back, so I had to wait. Then I thought about how important it is that I have one. Actually, it's really important, because right now, using my Garmin is a pain in the ass. I place it in my cup holder, with the cord wrapped around the base of the plastic piece that's supposed to mount to my windshield, and that kinda holds it in place. But if I mess up with the clutch and the car jerks, which happens more often then I want to admit it does, then the friggin thing flops over and either lands on the floorboard of the passenger side, or even worse, on my side. Sometimes I get the feeling that my Garmin is catching an attitude with me, too. If I don't drive the highlighted path, it tells me that it's recalculating, but in a rather impatient tone. If it had a face, I bet it would be rolling its eyes at me while it tells me its recalculating. Oh well, I guess the point of this is that I don't want to part with the forty snaps for the bean bag base, but at the same time, me and Kate are getting out of town for the rest of the week and the weekend, and I don't want the stupid thing to keep falling over. Also, since I'll be driving back and forth from Smithfeild everyday, I don't want to have to hassle with it all the time.
